¹⁶ and sayd vnto them that solde doues: Haue these thinges hence & make not my fathers house an house of marchaundise.

⁵ Vnto them wyll I geue in my housholde and within my walles, a better herytage and name then yf they had bene called sonnes and doughters I wyll geue them an euerlastynge name, that shall not peryshe. ⁶ Agayne, he sayeth vnto the straungers that are dysposed to stycke to the Lorde, to serue hym, and to loue hys name: That they shalbe no bonde men. And all they whiche kepe them selues, that they vnhalowe not the Sabboth, namely that they fulfil my couenaunt. ⁷ Then wyll I brynge to my holye mountayne, and make them ioyfull in my house of prayer. Their burnt offeringes & sacryfyces shalbe accepted vpon mine aulter, for my house shalbe an house of prayer for all people. ⁸ Thus sayeth the Lorde God whiche gathered together the scatred of Israel: I wil bring yet another congregacion to him. ⁹ Al the beastes of the felde, and al the beastes of the wood shal come to deuoure hym. ¹⁰ For hys watch men are al blind, they haue altogether no vnderstandyng, they are al domme dogges, not beyng able to barcke, they are slepery: slogish are they, & lye snortynge: ¹¹ they are shamelesse dogges, that be neuer satisfyed. The sheperdes also in lyke maner haue no vnderstanding but euery man turneth his owne way, euery one after his owne couetousnes with all hys power.

¹¹ What? thincke you thys house that beareth my name, is a denne of theues? And these thinges are not done priuelye, but before myne eyes sayeth the Lorde.

⁷ But the marchaunte hath a false weyght in his hande, he hath a pleasure to occupye extorsion. ⁸ Ephraim thinketh thus: Tush, I am ryche, I haue good ynoughe. In all my worckes shall not one fawte be founde, that I haue offended.

¹³ and sayde to them: It is writen, my house shalbe called the house of prayer. But ye haue made it a denne of theues.

¹⁷ And he taught saying vnto them: is it not wryten: my house shall be called the house of prayer vnto al nacions? But ye haue made it a den of theues.

⁴⁹ And he sayed vnto them: howe is it that ye sought me? Wyst ye not that I must go about my fathers busynes?

¹⁷ And Iesus answered them: my father worketh hither to & I worke.

⁴⁹ Iesus aunswered: I haue not the deuyll: but I honoure my father, & ye haue dishonoured me.

²⁹ My father whiche gaue them me, is greater then all, and no man is able to take them out of my fathers hande.

¹⁷ Iesus sayd vnto her touch me not, for I am not yet ascended to my father. But go to my brethren, & saye vnto them: I ascende vnto my father and youre father: to my God and your God.

²⁴ For a certain man named Demetrius, a siluersmith, whiche made siluer shrynes for Diana, was not a litel beneficial vnto the craftes men. ²⁵ Whiche he called together with the workemen of like occupacion, & sayde: Syrs: ye knowe that by thys crafte we haue vauntage. ²⁶ Moreouer ye se & heare that not alone at Ephesus, but almoste thorough out al Asia, this Paule hath persuaded and turned away muche people: saying that they be not Goddes, whiche are made wyth handes. ²⁷ So that not onelye thys our craft cometh into pacel to be set at nought: but also that the temple of the great Goddas Diana shoulde be despised, and her magnificence should be destroied, which al Asia, and the world worshyppeth.

⁵ and vayne disputacyons of men wyth corrupte myndes, and destytute of the trueth, whiche thynke that lucre is Godlines, from suche separate thy self.

³ and thorowe couetousnes shal they wyth fayned wordes make marchaundyse of you, whose iudgement is not farre of, and theyr dampnacion slepeth not.

¹⁴ hauinge eyes full of aduoutrye, and that can not cease to synne, begilinge vnstable soules. Hertes they haue exercised with couetousues.
