¹² For I delyuered the poore when he cried, and the fatherlesse that wanted helpe.

²² Ye shal trouble no widdowe nor fatherlesse chylde: ²³ If ye shall trouble them: they shall crye vnto me, and I wyll surelye heare their crye ²⁴ and then wyl my wrath waxe hote and I wyl kil you with the sweard, and your wiues shalbe widdowes and your chyldren fatherlesse.

¹⁸ but doth right vnto the fatherles & wydowe and loueth the straunger, to giue him fode and raiment.

² And there were some that sayde: oure sonnes and doughters are to manye, let vs take corne for them and eate, that we maye lyue. ³ Some sayde: let vs set oure landes, vyneyardes and houses to pledge, and take vp corne in the darth. ⁴ But some sayde: let vs borowe money of the kynges trybute for oure landes and vyneyardes. ⁵ Now are oure brethrens bodyes as oure owne bodyes and their children as oure chyldren: els shoulde we subdue oure sonnes and doughters vnto bondage, & some of oure doughters are subdued already, and no strength is there in oure handes, and other men shall haue oure landes and vyneyardes. ⁶ But when I hearde theyr complaynte and such wordes, it displeased me sore, ⁷ and I aduysed so in my mynde, that I rebuked the councelers, and the rulers, and sayde vnto them: wyll ye requyre vsury one of another? And I brought a greate congregacion against them ⁸ and sayde vnto them: we (after oure abilyte) haue bought oure brethren the Iewes, which were solde vnto the heythen. And wyll ye sell youre brethren, whom we haue boughte vnto vs? Then helde they theyr peace, and coulde fynde nothynge to aunswere. ⁹ And I sayde: It is not good that ye do. Oughte ye not to walcke in the feare of God because of the rebuke of the Heythen oure enemyes? ¹⁰ I and my brethren, and my seruauntes haue lente them moneye and corne: but as for vsury, let vs leaue it. ¹¹ Therfore thys same day se that ye restore them theyr landes agayne, theyr vyneyardes, oyle gardens and houses, and the hundred part of the money of the corne, wyne and oyle that ye haue wonne of them. ¹² Then sayde they: we wyll restore them agayne and wyll requyre nothynge of them, and wyl do as thou haste spoken. And I called the priestes, and toke an othe of them, that they shuld do so. ¹³ And I shoke my lappe, and sayde: God shake oute euerye man after the same maner from hys house and laboure, that maynteyneth not thys worde: euen thus be he shaken oute, and voyde. And all the congregacyon sayde: Amen, and praysed the Lorde. And the people dyd so.

⁵ Commeth not this for that great wickednesse, & for thine vngracious dedes which are innumerable? ⁶ thou hast taken the pledge from thy brethren for nought and robbed the naked of their clothing. ⁷ To suche as were wery, hast thou geuen no water to drincke, thou hast withdrawen bread from the hungry. ⁸ Shoulde suche one then as vseth violence, wrong and oppression (doing al thing of parcialite, and hauinge respecte of personnes) dwel in the lande? ⁹ Thou hast sent wyddowes away emptye and oppressed the poore fatherlesse.

⁴ that thrust the poore oute of the waie, and oppresse the simple of the worlde together.

¹⁷ Haue I eaten my porcyon alone, that the fatherlesse hath had no parte wyth me?

²¹ Dyd I euer lyfce vp my hande to hurte the fatherlesse? yea in the gate where I sawe my selfe to be in auctoryte:

⁵ He is a father of the fatherlesse, he is a defender of widdowes: euen God in his holy habytacyon.

² How long will ye geue wrong iudgement, and accept the personnes of the vngodly? Selah. ³ Defende the poore and fatherlesse, se that suche as be in nede & necessitie haue right. ⁴ Deliuer the outcaste & poore, & saue hym from the hande of the vngodly.

¹³ Who so stoppeth hys eare at the cryenge of the pore he shal cry him selfe and not be herd

¹¹ Delyuer them that go into death, and are led away to be slayne, & be not negligent therin. ¹² If thou wylt saye: I knewe not of it. Thinkest thou that he which made the herts, doth not consider it? & that he which regardeth thy soule, seyth it not? Shall not he recompence euerye man accordynge to his workes?

¹⁶ Yee when he helped the oppressed and poore to their ryght then prospered he well. From whence came this, but onlye because he had me before hys eyes, sayth the Lorde.

²⁷ Pure deuocyon and vndefyled before God the father is thys: to visite the fatherlesse and wyddowes in theyr aduersitye, and to kepe hym selfe vnspotted of the worlde.
