⁵ And ye haue forgotten consolacyon, which speaketh vnto you as vnto chyldren: my sonne despyse not the chastenynge of the Lorde, neyther faynte when thou arte rebuked of hym:

⁹ Take hede to thy selfe therfore only & kepe thy soule diligently, that thou forget not the thynges whych thyne eyes haue sene, & that they departe not oute of thyne herte, all the dayes of thy lyfe: but teach them thy sonnes and thy sonnes sonnes. ¹⁰ The day that I stode before the Lorde your God in Horeb, when he sayed vnto me, gather me the people togither, that I may make them heare my wordes that they maye learne to feare me as longe as they lyue vpon the earth & that they may teache theyr children:

⁷ And Iosua sayde, Ah, Lorde Iehouah, wherfore haste thou brought this people ouer Iordan to delyuer vs into the handes of the Amorytes to destroye vs: wolde to God we had aduentured & dwelt on the other side Iordan. ⁸ Oh Lorde what shall I say, when Israel turneth theyr backes before theyr enemyes: ⁹ Moreouer the Cananites, and all the inhabyters of the Lande shall heare of it, and shall come about vs, and destroye the name of vs out of the world. And then what wilt thou do vnto thy myghtye name. ¹⁰ And the Lorde sayde vnto Iosua, gette the vp, wherfore lyest thou thus vpon thy face? ¹¹ Israel hath synned & also transgressed myne appoyntement, which I commaunded them, and haue taken of the excommunicate thinges and haue stolen and hydde them, and also put them vnto theyr owne stuffe:

⁷ And the Lorde was wrath wyth Ozah and God smote hym in the same place for hys faulte, & there he dyed by the arcke of God. ⁸ And Dauid was dyspleased because the Lorde had rent Ozah. And the name of the place was called Perez Ozah vnto thys daye. ⁹ And Dauid was then afrayed of the Lord, and sayd: how shulde the arcke of the Lord come to my house ¹⁰ And so Dauid wolde not bryng the arcke of the Lord wyth hym into the cytye of Dauid. But caryed it into the house of Obed Edom a Gethite.

⁹ And when they came on the thressynge flowre of Chidon, Oza put forth his hande to holde the arcke, for the oxen stombled. ¹⁰ And the Lorde was wroth with Oza & smote hym, because he put hys hande to the Arcke. And there he dyed before God. ¹¹ And Dauid was displeased, because the Lorde had rent a rent in Oza and called the sayde place Perez Oza vnto this daye. ¹² And Dauid was so afrayed of God that daye, that he sayde, how shall I brynge the Arcke of God whome to me. ¹³ And so Dauid brought not the Arcke home to him to the cytie of Dauid: But turned it in to the house of Obed Edom o Gethite.

¹² & sayde vnto them: ye are the princypall heades of the Leuites, sanctefye therfore youre selues and youre brethren, and brynge the Arcke of the Lord God of Israel vnto the place that I haue prepared for it. ¹³ For because ye were not ther at the fyrst tyme, the Lorde oure God made a rent amonge vs, for that we sought hym not as the fashion ought to be.

¹⁷ Beholde, happye is the man, whom God punisheth: therfore, despyse not thou the chastenynge of the Almyghty. ¹⁸ For though he make a wound, he geueth a medicine againe: though he smyte, hys hande maketh whole agayne.

³¹ For so muche then as I haue begonne to talke of GOD, I wyll not hyndre the.

¹ To the chaunter by Negynoth vpon Sheminith, a Psalme of Dauid. Oh Lorde rebuke me not in thyne anger: Oh chasten me not in thy heuy dyspleasure. ² Haue mercye vpon me (O Lorde) for I am weake: O Lorde heale me for all my bones are vexed.

¹² Blessed is the man, whome thou learnest (O LORDE) and teacheste hym in thy lawe.

¹⁸ The Lorde hath chastened and correcte me, but he hath not geuen me ouer vnto deathe.

¹⁶ My delite shalbe in thy statutes, I wyll not forget thy wordes.

⁷⁵ I knowe, O Lorde, that thy iudgmentes are right, and that thou of very faithfulnes hast caused me to be troubled.

⁸³ For I am become like a botel in the smoke, yet do not I forget thy statutes.

¹⁰⁹ My soule is alwaye in my hande, yet do not I forget thy lawe.

¹ O my sonne, forget not my law but se that thyne hert kepe my commaundementes.

¹¹ My sonne, despise not the chastening of the Lorde, neyther faynte when thou arte rebuked of hym. ¹² For whome the Lord loueth hym he chasteneth: & yet deliteth in him euen as a father in his owne sonne.

⁵ Get the wysdome, get the vnderstanding forget not the wordes of my mouth, & shrinke not from them.

¹⁸ Moreouer I hearde Ephraim, that was led awaye captyue, complayne on thys maner: O Lorde, thou haste correcte me, and thy chastening haue I receyued, as an vntamed calfe. Conuerte thou me, and I shalbe conuerted, for thou arte my Lorde God:

⁹ Do ye not yet perceyue, neither remember those fyue loues when there were .v.M. men, & how many baskettes toke ye vp: ¹⁰ Neyther the seuen loues when there were .iiij. thousand, and how many baskettes toke ye vp?

⁶ he is not here, but is rysen. Remember howe he spake vnto you, when he was yet with you in Galile,

⁸ And they remembred his wordes,

³² But when we are iudged of the Lorde, we are chastened, because we shoulde not be dampued wyth the worlde.

⁸ We are troubled on euerye syde, yet are we not withoute shyfte. We are in pouerte, but not vtterlye withoute some what. ⁹ We are persecuted, but are not forsaken. We are caste doune, neuerthelesse we peryshe not.

⁹ And he sayde vnto me: my grace is suffycyent for the. For my strengthe is made perfecte thorowe weakenes. Very gladly therfor wil I reioyce of my weakenes, that the strength of Christe maye dwell in me ¹⁰ Therfore haue I delectacyon in infyrmities, in rebukes, in nede, in persecutions, in anguyshe, for Christes sake. For when I am weake, then am I stronge.

³ Consydre therfore how that he endureth such speakyng agaynst him of synners least ye should be weryed and faynte in youre myndes. ⁴ For ye haue not yet resysted vnto bloude sheding stryuynge agaynst synne.

⁷ Yf ye endure chastenynge, God offereth hym selfe vnto you as vnto sonnes. What sonne is that whom the father chasteneth not?

¹² Happy is the man that endureth in temptacyon, for when he is tryed, he shal receyue the croune of lyfe, which the Lorde hath promised to them that loue hym.

¹⁹ As manye as I loue, I rebuke and chastes. Be feruent therfore and repente.
