For what his mouth commaundeth, that same doth hys sprete gather together (or fulfylleth.) ¹⁷ Vpon whom soeuer the lot falleth, or to whom he dealeth it with the lyue: those shall possesse the enheritaunce from generacyon to generacyon, and dwell therin.

No, no: thou shalt neyther be quyte nor fre but thou muste drincke also: ¹³ For why, I haue sworne by my selfe (sayeth the Lord) that Bozrah shal become a wyldernes, an open shame a laughynge stocke and cursynge: and her cytyes shalbe a continuall deserte. ¹⁴ For I am perfectly infourmed of the Lord, that he hath sente a message all readye vnto the Heathen. Gather you together, and go forthe agaynste them: make you readye to the battayle: ¹⁵ for lo, I wyll make the but smal among the Heathen, and lytle regarded among men. ¹⁶ Thy hye stomack & the pryde of thy herte haue disceyued the, because thou wylte dwell in the holes of stony rockes, and haue the hye mountaines in possessyon. Neuertheles though thy neste were as hye as the Aegles, yet will I caste the doune, sayeth the Lorde. ¹⁷ Moreouer Idumea shall be a wyldernesse: who so goeth by it, shalbe abashed, & wodre at all her myserable plages. ¹⁸ Lyke as Sodome Gomor, and the cytyes that laye there about, were turned vp syde doune (sayeth the Lorde) so shall no bodye dwell in Idumea, & no man shall haue hys habytacyon there. ¹⁹ Beholde, lyke as the Lyon commeth vp from the pleasaunt medowes of Iordane vnto the grene pastures of Etham, so wyll I dryue hym, and make hym runne agaynste her. But who is the yongeman that I wyll ordeyne thereto? Who is lyke vnto me? What is he that wyll stryue wyth me? ¹³ therefore thus sayeth the Lorde: I wyll reache oute myne hande vpon Edom, and take awaye man and beast oute of it. From Theman vnto Dedan will I make it desolate, they shalbe slayne wt the swearde. ¹⁴ Thorowe my people of Israell will I auenge me agayne vpon Edom: they shall handle him, accordinge to my wrath & indignacion, so that they shall know my vengeaunce, sayeth the Lorde God.

Therfore, thus sayeth the Lorde God: ¹¹ As trulye as I lyue, I wyll handle the accordynge to thy wrath and gelousy, lyke as thou hast dealt cruellye with them: that I maye be knowen amonge them, how I haue punished the. ¹² Yee and that thou also mayest be sure, that I the Lord haue hearde all thy despytefull wordes, whiche thou hast spoken agaynst the mountaynes of Israel, sayinge: Lo, they are made waste, & geuen vs to deuoure. ¹³ Thus wyth youre mouthes ye haue mayde youre boost agaynst me, yee & multyplyed youre proude wordes agaynst me, which I haue hearde altogether. ¹⁴ Wher vnto thus sayeth the Lorde God: when the whole worlde is in wealth, then wyll I make the waste. ¹⁵ And like as thou (O mount Seyr) wast glad, because the heretage of the house of Israell was destroyed: euen so wyll I do vnto the also that thou & whole Edom shall be destroyed, and knowe, that I am the Lorde.

³⁷ Thus sayeth the Lorde God: I wyll yet ones be found agayne of the house of Israel & do this for them: I shall increase them as a flocke of men.

Thou shalt sende out no man agaynst their hooste, in the daye of their aduersyte: ¹⁴ nether shalt thou stande waytynge any more at the corners of stretes, to murthur soch as are fled or to take them presoners, that remayne in the daye of their trouble. ¹⁵ For the daye of the Lord is harde by vpon all the Heathen. Lyke as thou hast done, so shalt thou be dealte wythall, yee thou shalt be rewarded euen vpon thyne head. ¹⁶ For lyke wyse as ye haue droncken vpon myne holy hyll, so shall all Heathen dryncke contynually: yee dryncke shall they, and swalowe vp, so that ye shalbe, as though ye had neuer bene.

¹⁴ Ye haue sayed. Is it but lost labour, to serue God? What profyt haue we for keping his commaundementes, and for walkinge humbly before the Lorde of Hostes?
