⁹ Sara sawe the sonne of Hagar the Egyptian whyche she had borne vnto Abraham, a mockynge.

¹ Sarai Abrams wyfe bare hym no chyldren. But she had an hand mayd an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.

³ Than Sarai Abrams wyfe toke Hagar her mayd the Egyptian (after Abram had dwelled .x. yere in the land of Canaan) & gaue her to hyr husbond Abram to be his wyfe. ⁴ And he went in vnto Agar, & she conceyued. And when she sawe that she had conceyued: her mastresse was despysed in her syght. ⁵ Than sayde Sarai vnto Abram: Thou dost me vnryghte, for I haue geuen my mayd into thy bosome: and nowe because she seeth that she hath conceyned, I am despysed in her syghte: the Lorde iudge betwene the and me. ⁶ Than sayde Abram to Sarai: beholde, thy mayde is in thy hande, do wyth her as it pleaseth the. And because Sarai fared foule with her, she fled from her.

¹⁵ And Hagar bare Abram a sonne, and Abram called his sons name whyche Hagar bare Ismael.

²⁰ And as concernynge Ismaell also, I haue herde thy request: loo, I wyll blesse hym and encrease hym, and multiplye hym excedyngly. Twelue princes shall he begette and I wyl make a greate nacion of hym.

²³ And he went from thence vp to Bethel. And he was goynge vp in the waye, there came lytle laddes out of the citie and mocked him, and sayde to him: go vp thou bald head, go vp thou bald heade. ²⁴ And he turned backe and loked on them and cursed them in the name of the Lorde. And there came two Beares out of that wood, & tare .xlij. of the boies.

¹⁰ And the postes went from cytie to cytye thorou oute the lande of Ephraim and Manasseh and euen vnto Zabulon. But they laughed them to skorne & moked them.

¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God & despised theyr wordes & mysse vsed his prophetes, vntyll the wrath of the Lord so arose agaynst hys people that it was past remeadie.

¹ Bvt now they that are myne inferiours and younger then I, haue me in derision: yea euen they, whose fathers I woulde haue thought scorne to haue set with the dogges of my cattell.

⁶ But as for me, I am a worme & no man: a very scorne of men and the outcaste of the people.

¹⁰ Whyle my bones are broken, whyle mine enemyes cast me in the teeth, daylye saiynge vnto me: where is now thy God?

¹³ Thou makeste vs to be rebuked of oure neyghboures, to be laughed to scorne & had in derision, of them that are rounde about v ¹⁴ Thou hast made vs, a very by word among the Heathen, and that the people shake their heades at vs.

¹¹ A chylde is knowen by hys conuersacion, whether hys workes be pure & right.

⁷ Zain. Now doth Ierusalem remembre the tyme of her misery & dysobedience, yee the ioye and pleasure that she hath had in tymes past: seynge her people is brought downe thorow the power of their enemie, & there is no man for to helpe her: her enemies stande lokinge at her & laugh her Sabbath dayes to scorne.
