³² And he sayde: O let not my Lorde be angrye, that I speake yet, but euen once more oulye. What yf ten be found there? And he sayde: I wyll not destroy them for .x. sake.

³⁰ And he sayde: O let not my Lorde be angry, that I speake. What yf there be founde .xxx. there? And he sayde: I wyll not do it, yf I fynde .xxx. there.

⁹ And the Lord sayd vnto Moyses: beholde I se this people that it is a styfe necked people, ¹⁰ & and nowe therfore suffer me that my wrath may waxe hote vpon them, and that I may consume them and then wyl I make of the a mightye people.

¹⁴ And the Lord refrained him selfe from the euil whych he sayed he wold do vnto his people.

¹³ Now therfore, yf I haue found fauoure in thy sight, then shewe me thy way & let me know the: that I may fynde grace in thy syghte. And loke on thys also, howe that this nacion is thy people. ¹⁴ And he sayde: my presence shal goo wyth the, and I wyll geue the rest.

⁶ And when the Lord walked before him, he cried: Lord Lord God full of compassion and mercy, which are not lightly angry but abundaunt in mercy and truth, ⁷ and kepest mercye in store for thousandes, & forgeueste wyckednes, trespace, and synne (for there is no man innocent before the) and vysitest the wyckednes of the father vpon the chyldren and vpon chyldrens chyldren, euen vnto the thyrd and fourth generation.

⁹ & said: If I haue found grace in thy sight, O Lorde, then let my Lorde go wyth vs (for it is a stubburne people) & haue mercy vpon our wickednes & our sinne, and let vs be thyne enheritaunce. ¹⁰ And he sayd: behold, I make an appoyntment before all thys people, that I wyl doo maruails: such as haue not bene done in all the world, neither among any nation. And all the people among whych thou arte, shall se the worckes of the Lord: for it is a terrible thynge that I wyll do wyth the:

¹¹ And the Lorde sayde vnto Moses: Howe longe shall thys people rayle vpon me, & how long wyll it be yer they beleue me, for all my sygnes whiche I haue shewed amonge them? ¹² I wyll smyte them wyth the pestilence and destroy them, & wyll make of the a greater nacion & a myghtier then they. ¹³ And Moses sayd vnto the Lorde: then the Egyptians shall heare it, for thou broughtest thys people wyth thy myghte from among them. ¹⁴ And it wylbe told to the inhabiters of thys land also, for they haue heard likewyse, that thou the Lord arte among thys people, & that thou art sene face to face, and that thy cloude standeth ouer them & that thou goest before them by day tyme in a pyller of a cloud and in a pyller of fire by night. ¹⁵ If thou shalt kyl al thys people as they were but one man then the nacions which haue herde the fame of the, wyl speake saying: ¹⁶ because the Lorde was not able to brynge in thys people in to the land which he sware vnto them, therfore he slewe them in the wyldernesse. ¹⁷ So nowe let the power of my Lorde be greate, acordyng as thou hast spoken saying: ¹⁸ the Lord is longe year he be angrye, and ful of mercy, and suffereth synne and trespace, and leaueth no man innocent, and vysyteth the vnrighteousnesse of the fathers vpon the chyldren, euen vpon the thyrd and fourth generacion, ¹⁹ be mercyfull I beseche the therfore vnto the synne of thys people according vnto thy greate mercy, and accordyng as thou hast forgeuen thys people from Egypt euen vnto thys place. ²⁰ And the Lorde sayde: I haue forgeuen it, accordyng to thy request.

³⁹ And Gedeon sayde vnto God: be not angrye with me that I speake once more, let me proue onelye once agayne with the flece. Let it be drye onelye vpon the flece, and dewe vpon al the ground about.

²³ Nowe yf there be a messenger (one amonge a thousande) sent for to speake vnto man, and to shewe hym the ryght waye:

⁵ For thou Lorde arte good and gracyous, and of greate mercye vnto all them that call vpon the.

⁸ The Lorde aborreth the sacryfyce of the vngodlye, but the prayer of the rightuous is acceptable vnto hym.

⁶ I the Lorde haue called the in rightuousnesse, & led the by the hande. Therfore wyll I also defende the, and geue the for a couenaunt of the people, and to be the lyght of the Gentyles. ⁷ That thou mayest open the eyes of the blynde, let out the prisoners, & them that syt in darknesse, out of the dongeon house.

⁸ Moreouer thus sayeth the Lord: lyke as when one would gather holy grapes, men say vnto him: breake it not of for it is holy: euen so wyll I do also for my seruauntes sake, that I wyll not destroye them all.

¹⁸ Where is there such a God as thou? that pardonest wickednes, and forgeuest the offences of the remnaunte of thyne herytage? He kepeth not hys wrath for euer. And why? his delyte is to haue compassyon:

⁷ Axe and it shalbe geuen you. Seke and ye shall fynde. Knocke & it shalbe opened vnto you.

²⁰ Vnto hym that is able to do excedinge aboundantly aboue all that we are or thinke, accordinge to the power that worketh in vs,

¹⁵ and the prayer of fayth shall saue the sicke, & the Lorde shall rayse hym vp: and yf he haue commytted synnes, they shalbe forgeuen him. ¹⁶ Knoweledge youre fautes one to another; and praye one for another, that ye maye be healed. The prayer of a ryghtuous man auayleth muche yf it be feruente. ¹⁷ Helias was a man mortall, euen as we are, and he prayed in hys prayer, that it might not rayne: and it rayned not on the earth by the space of thre yeares & sixe monethes.

¹⁵ And yf we knowe that he heareth vs whatsoeuer we axe, we knowe, that we shall haue the peticyons that we desyre of hym. ¹⁶ If any man se his brother synne a synne that is not vnto death, let him axe, and he shal geue him lyfe, for them that synne not vnto death. There is a synne vnto death, for which saye I not that a man shoulde praye.
