⁶ With that sayde the Lorde God on thys maner: Wo be vnto the bloudye citie of the pot, whervpon the rustinesse hangeth, and is not yet scoured awaye. Take out the peces that are in it, one after another: there neade not lottes be cast therfore,

¹⁶ And so Iosua rose vp erly in the mornynge and brought Israel by theyr trybes: and the trybe of Iuda was caught. ¹⁷ Then he broughte the kynredes of Iuda, and founde the kynred of the Zarehites gyltye. And he brought the kynred of the Zarehytes by housholders, and Zabdy was caughte. ¹⁸ And he brought hys housholde man by man, and Acan the sonne of Carmy, the sonne of Zabdi, the sonne of Zareh in the trybe of Iuda was caught.

²² Then sayde Iosua, open the mouth of the caue, and bringe out these .v. Kynges vnto me out of the caue.

⁴⁰ Then he said vnto all Israell: be ye on one syde, & I & Ionathas my sonne wylbe on another. And the people sayde vnto Saule: what thou thynkest best that do. ⁴¹ And Saule sayde vnto the Lorde God of Israell: geue perfecte knoweledge. And Saule and Ionathas were caught, & the people skaped free. ⁴² Then sayde Saul, cast lottes betwene me & Ionathas my sonne. And Ionathas was caughte.

² And he bette the Moabytes, and measured them wyth a lyne makynge them lye a longe on the earth, and then meatynge the length of .ij. lynes to sley, and the length of one lyne to saue a lyue. And so became the Moabites Dauids seruauntes & payde trybute.

¹⁶ And therto Manasseh shed innocent bloud exceadynge aboundantly, in so mnche that he replenysshed Ierusalem in all corners, beside his synne wherwyth he made Iuda synne & to do euyl in the syght of the Lorde.

⁴ and for the innocent bloude, that he shedde, and fylled Ierusalem with innocent bloude, whych the Lord woulde not forgeue.

²⁹ The bellous are brent in the fyre, the lead is consumed, the melter melteth in vayne, for the euyll is not taken awaye from them.

⁵ And to the other, he sayde that I myght heare: Go ye after hym thorow the cytye, slaye, ouerse none, spare none: ⁶ kyl and destroye bothe olde men and yonge, maydens, chyldren, and wyues. But as for those, that haue thys marcke Than vpon them: se that ye touche them not, & begynne at my sanctuarye. Then they began at the elders, whiche were in the temple,

⁶ Many one haue ye murthered in thys cyte, and fylled the stretes full of the slayne. ⁷ Therfore, thus sayth the Lord God: The slayne men that ye haue layed on the grounde in thys cytye, are the fleshe, and thys cytie is the cauldron: But I wyll brynge you oute of it: ⁸ ye haue drawen out the sweard euen so wyll I also brynge a swearde ouer you, sayeth the Lorde God. ⁹ I wyll dryue you oute of this citie, and delyuer you into youre enemyes hande, and wyll condemne you.

¹¹ This cytie shall not be youre cauldron, neyther shall ye be the fleshe therein: but in the coastes of Israell wil I punyshe you,

² thou sonne of man, wilt thou not reproue his bluodthursty citye? Shewe hem their abhomynacions,

⁶ Beholde, the rulers of Israel haue brought euery man his power, to shed bloud in the. ⁷ In the haue they dispysed father & mother, in the haue they oppressed the straunger, in the haue they vexed the widdowe and the fatherlesse. ⁸ Thou haste despysed my Sanctuarye, and vnhalowed my Sabboth. ⁹ Murtherers are there in the, that shede bloude, & eate vpon the hylles, and in the they vse vnhappynesse.

¹² yea gyftes haue bene receyued in the, to shede bloude. Thou haste taken vsury and encreace, thou haste oppressed thy neyghbours by extorcion, and forgotten me, sayeth the Lorde God.

²⁷ Thy rulers in the ate like rauishing wolues, to shed bloude, and to destroye soules, for their owne couetous lucre.

³⁷ namelye, that they haue broken their wedlocke, and stayned their handes with bloud: yea euen with their ydoles haue they committed aduoutry, & offered them their owne children (to be deuoured) whom they had borne vnto me. ³⁸ Yea, and this haue they done vnto me: also, they haue defiled my Sanctuary in that same daye, & haue vnhalowed my Sabboth. ³⁹ For when they haue slayne their children for their Idoles, they came the same daye into my Sanctuary to defile it. Lo, thys haue they done in my house. ⁴⁰ Beside all thys, thou hast sent thy messaungers for men oute of farre countreyes: and when they came, thou hast bated, trimmed and set forth thy selfe of the best fashion: ⁴¹ thou sattest vpon a goodlye bed, & a table spred before the: whervpon thou hast set mine incense and myne oyle. ⁴² Then was there greate cheare with her, & the men that were sent from farre countreyes ouer the desert, vnto these they gaue bracelettes vpon their handes, and set glorious crounes vpon their heades: ⁴³ then thought I: no doute, these will vse their harlotry also wyth yonder old whore. ⁴⁴ And they wente into her, as vnto a comen harlot: Euen so wente they also to Oholah & Oholibah those fylthy wemen. ⁴⁵ O ye all that loue vertu & ryghteousnes, iudge them, punish them, as aduoutrers and murtherers ought to be iudged & punished. For they are breakers of wedlocke, and the bloude is in their handes.

⁹ Wherfore thus sayeth the Lorde God: O wo be vnto that bloud thursty cyty, for whom I wyll prepare a heape of wood:

¹¹ Moreouer, set the pot empty vpon the coales, that it may be warme & the metall hote: that the fylth & rustinesse maye be consumed. ¹² But it wyl not go of, there is so muche of it: the rustinesse must be brent out. ¹³ Thy filthinesse is abhominable, for I woulde haue clensed the, but thou wouldest not be clensed. Thou canste not be pourged from thyne vnclennesse, tyll I haue poured my wrothfull indignacyon vpon the.

³ yea they haue cast lottes for my people the yonge men haue they set in the bordell house, and solde the Damsels for wine, that they myghte haue to drincke.

¹¹ and that because of the tyme: when thou dydest set thy selfe agaynst hym, euen when the enemyes caryed awaye his hooste, and when the aleauntes came in at hys portes, and cast lottes vpon Ierusalem, and thou thy selfe wast as one of them.

⁷ And they sayde one to another: come, lett vs cast lottes: that we maye knowe, for whose cause we are thus troubled. And so they cast lottes, and the lot fell vpon Ionas.

² There is not a godlye man vpon earth, there is not one ryghtuous amonge men. They laboure al to shed bloud, and euery man hunteth his brother to death:

¹ Wo to the bloudthurstye cytye, which is full of lyes & robbery & wyl not leaue of from rauyshyng.

¹⁰ yet was she dryuen away, and brought into captiuite: her yonge chyldren were smiten doune at the heade of euerye strete, the lottes were cast for the most auncient men in her, and al her mightye men were bounde in chaynes.

³⁵ that vpon you may come all the ryghtuous bloude that was shede vpon the earth, from the bloude of ryghtuous Abel, vnto the bloude of Zacharias the sonne of Barachias, whom ye slewe betwene the tempel and the aulter.

⁷ And when they haue fynished theyr testymonye, the beast that came out of the bottomlesse pyt, shal make warre agaynst them, and shal ouercome them, and kyl them. ⁸ And theyr bodies shal lye in the stretes of the great city, whiche spyrytually is called Sodome and Egypte, where oure Lorde was crucyfyed.

⁶ And I saw the wyfe drounken with the bloude of Saynctes, and with the bloud of the wytnesses of Iesu. And when I saw her, I wondred wyth great maruayle.

²⁴ & in her was found the bloud of the prophetes, and of the sainctes and of al that were slayne vpon the earth.
