²⁰ I haue euer broken thy yocke of olde, and burste thy bondes: yet sayest thou: I wil nomore serue, but (lyke an harlot) thou runnest aboute vpon all hye hilles, and amonge all grene trees,

² & layed against the sunne, the Mone and all the heauenlye hoste, whom they loued, whome they serued whome they rayne after, whome they soughte & worshypped. They shall nether be gathered together nor buryed, but shall lye vpon the earthe, to theyr shame and despysynge.

⁶ He shall be lyke the heeth, that groweth in the wildernes. As for the good thing that is for to come, he shal not se it: but dwell in a drye place of the wildernes, in a salt and vnoccupied lande.

¹⁹ But as an Asse shall he be buried, corrupte and be cast without the gates of Ierusalem.

³⁰ Therfore thus the Lord sayeth of Iehoakim the king of Iuda. There shal none of hys generacyon syt vpon the throne of Dauid. His dead corse shalbe cast oute, that the heate of the daye, and the frost of the nyghte may come vpon him.

¹⁹ Beholde, lyke as the Lyon commeth vp from the pleasaunt medowes of Iordane vnto the grene pastures of Etham, so wyll I dryue hym, and make hym runne agaynste her. But who is the yongeman that I wyll ordeyne thereto? Who is lyke vnto me? What is he that wyll stryue wyth me? What shepherde may stande in my handes?

O how good is the Lord vnto them, that put their truste in him, & to the soule that seketh after him? ²⁶ O how good is it with stylnesse to wate & tarye, for the health of the Lorde? ²⁷ O how good is it for a man, to take the yock vpon hym from hys youth vp.

⁹ straungers haue deuoured his strength, yet he regardeth it not: he waxeth ful of gray hearres: yet will he not know it,

¹ Ephraim kepeth the ayre, and folowed after the east winde: he is euer increasinge lyes & destruccyon. They be confederate with the Assirians, their oyle is caried into Egypte.

⁸ I wyll shewe the, O man, what is good, & what the Lorde requyreth of the: Namely, to do right, to haue pleasure in louynge kyndnesse, to be lowlye, and to walcke wyth thy God:

²⁵ Therfore I saie vnto you, be not tareful for you life what ye shall eate or what ye shall dryncke, nor yet for your bodye, what ye shall put on, is not the lyfe more worthe then meate, and the body more of value then rayment?

²⁴ The sonne of man goeth as it is written of hym: but wo be to that man, by whome the sonne of man shalbe betrayed. It had ben good for that man, yf he had neuer bene borne.

⁶ Both were perfect before God, and walked in al the lawes and ordinaunces of the Lorde, that no man coulde fynde faute with them.

¹⁹ Thou wylt saye then vnto me: why then blameth he vs yet? For who can resist hys wyll? ²⁰ But O man, what arte thou whiche disputeste wyth God? Shall the worke saye to the workeman, why haste thou made me on thys fashion?

⁶ Godlynes is greate ryches, yf a man be content with that he hath. ⁷ For we broughte nothynge into thys worlde & it is a playne case that we can carye nothyng out. ⁸ When we haue fode and raymente, let vs therwyth be content.

¹⁷ Charge them that are ryche in this worlde shal they be not exceadyng wyse, and that they truste not in the vncertayne ryches, but in the lyuyng God, which geueth vs aboundauntly al thynges to enioy them,

²⁷ And as it is appoynted vnto men that they shall ones dye, and then commeth the iudgemente,

¹⁴ and yet can not tell what shall happen to morowe. For what thynge is youre lyfe? It is euen a vapoure that appeareth for a lyttel tyme, and then vanysheth awaye:
