³⁵ Vengeaunce is mine, and I wyll reward: theyr fete shall slyde, when the tyme cometh. For the tyme of theyr destruccion is at hand, & the tyme that shal come vpon them maketh hast.

⁴³ Prayse ye heathen hys people, for he wil auenge the bloude of hys seruauntes, & wyl auenge hym of his aduersaries, and wyll be merciful vnto the land of hys people.

¹⁷ Vntyll I wente into the Sanctuary of God, and considred the ende of these men. ¹⁸ Namely, how thou hast set them in a slippery place, that thou mayst cast them doune headlinges and destroye them. ¹⁹ O how sodenly do they consume, perysh, and come to a fearful ende?

¹ O Lorde God, to whome vengeaunce belongeth: thou God to whome vengeaunce belongeth shewe thy self.

¹⁹ But the waye of the vngodly is as the darcknes, wherin men fal, or thei be aware.

¹⁹ Whiche vse to speake on thys maner: let hym make haste nowe, & go forthe with his worcke, that we maye se it. Let the councell of the holye one of Israel come, and draw nye, that we maye knowe it.

¹⁵ And many shall stomble, fall, & be broken vpon him: yea they shalbe snared and taken.

¹² Therfore thus sayeth the holye one of Israel: In as muche as ye haue caste of youre bewtye, and comforted youre selues with power and nymblenesse, and put youre confidence therin: ¹³ therfore shal ye haue this myschefe agayne for youre destruccyon and fall, lyke as an hye wall, that falleth because of some ryft (or blast) whose breakynge cometh sodenly.

²² The youngest and leest shall growe into a thousande, and the symplest into a strong people. I the Lorde shall shortly bringe this thinge to passe in hys tyme.

²¹ And therfore thus sayth the Lorde: beholde I will make this people fall, & there shall fall from amonge them the father with the chyldren, one neyghboure shall peryshe with another.

¹⁶ Honoure the Lorde youre God herein, or he take hys lyght from you, and or euer youre fete stomble in darcknesse at the hylle lest when ye loke for the lyght, he turne it into the shadowe and darcknesse of death.

¹² Wherfore, their waye shall be slypperye in the darcknesse, where in they maye stacker and fall. For I wyll bringe a plage vpon them, euen the yeare of their visytacyon, sayeth the Lorde.

⁸ Therfore, I will shortly poure out my sore displeasure ouer the, and fulfyll my wrath vpon the. I will iudge the after thy wayes, and recompence the all thy abhominacyons. ⁹ Myne eye shall not ouerse the, nether will I spare the: but rewarde the after thy wayes, and shewe thy abhomynacions, to learne you for to knowe, how that I am the Lorde that smyteth.

² The Lorde is a gelous God, & a taker of vengeaunce: yee a taker of vengeaunce is the Lorde, and wrathfull. The Lord taketh vengeaunce of hys enemyes, and reserueth dyspleasure for his aduersaries.

⁶ Who maye endure before his wrath? Or who is able to abyde hys gryme displeasure? His anger taketh on lyke fyre, and the harde rockes burst in sunder before hym.

³ for the vysyon is yet farre of for a tyme, but at the last it shal come to passe & not fayle. And thoughe he tarye, yet wayte thou for hym, for in very dede he wyll come, & not be slacke

⁷ And shall not God aduenge his electe, which crye daye and nyghte vnto hym, ye though he defarre them? ⁸ I tell you, he wil auenge them, and that quickly. Neuerthelesse when the sonne of man commeth, suppose ye, that he shall fynde fayth on earth?

¹⁹ Derely beloued auenge not youre selues, but geue roume vnto the wrathe of God. For it is wrytten: vengeaunce is myne, and I wyll rewarde sayeth the Lorde.

⁴ For he is the minister of GOD, for thy welth. But and yf thou do euyll, then feare: for he beareth not a swearde for noughte, but is the minister of God, to take vengeaunce on them that do euyll.

³⁰ For we knowe hym that hath sayde: vengeaunce belongeth vnto me. I wyll recompence sayth the lorde. And agayne: the lord shall iudge hys people.

⁸ and a stone to stomble at, and a rocke to offende them whiche stomble at the word, and beleue not that whereon they were set.

³ and thorowe couetousnes shal they wyth fayned wordes make marchaundyse of you, whose iudgement is not farre of, and theyr dampnacion slepeth not.

⁸ Dearly beloued, be not ignoraunt of thys one thinge, howe that one daye is wyth the Lorde, as a thousande yeare, and a thousande yeare as one daye. ⁹ The Lord is not slacke to fulfyl hys promyse, as some men count slaknes, but is patient to vsward and would haue no man loste, but would receyue al men to repentaunce. ¹⁰ Neuertheles the daye of the Lord wyl come as a thiefe in the nyght in the which daye, the heauens shal peryshe wyth terryble noyse, and the elementes shal melte wyth heate, and the earth wyth the workes that are therin shal burne.
