¹ In the thirde yeare of king Cirus of Persia, there was shewed vnto Daniel (otherwyse called Balthazar) a matter, yea a true matter, but it is yet a longe tyme vnto it. He vnderstode the matter well, and perceyued what the vision was. ² At the same time I Daniel mourned for the space of thre weakes, ³ so that I had no lust to eate bread: as for fleshe and wine there came none within my mouth: No, I dyd not ones annoynte my selfe, till the whole thre weakes were oute. ⁴ Upon the .xxiiii. daye of the first Moneth, I was by the great floude, called Tigris: ⁵ I lift vp mine eyes, and loked: and beholde, a man clothed in linen, whose loynes were girded vp with fyne goulde of Araby: ⁶ his body was like the Chrisolite stone, his face (to loke vpon) was like lighteninge, his eyes as the flamme of fyre, his armes and fete were lyke fayre glysterynge metall, but the voyce of his wordes was like the voyce of a multitude. ⁷ I Daniel alone sawe this vision, the men that were with me, sawe it not: but a greate fearfulnesse fell vpon them, so that they fled away & hid them selues. ⁸ I was left there my selfe alone, and sawe this greate vision, so longe till there remayned no more strengthe within me: yea I lost my coloure cleane, I waited awaye, and my strength was gone. ⁹ Yet hearde I the voyce of his wordes: and as sone as I hearde it, fayntnesse came vpon me, and I fell doune flat to the grounde vpon my face. ¹⁰ And beholde, an hande touched me, whyche set me vpon my knees, and vpon the palmes of my handes, ¹¹ sayinge vnto me: O Daniel, thou well beloued man: take good hede of the wordes, that I shal say vnto the, and stande ryght, for vnto the am I now sent. And when he had sayde these wordes, I stode vp tremblinge. ¹² Then he sayd vnto me: feare not Daniel: for why sence the fyrst day that thou set thyne herte to vnderstande, and diddest chasten thy selfe before thy God: thy wordes haue bene hearde. And I had come vnto the, when thou begannest to speake ¹³ bad nor the prynce ouer the kingedom of the Perses withstand me .xxi. dayes. But lo, Michael one of the chefe Princes, came to helpe me, hym haue I left by the kyng of Persia, ¹⁴ & am come to shewe the, what shall happen vnto thy people in the latter dayes. For it wilbe longe yet or the vision be fulfilled. ¹⁵ Nowe when he had spoken these wordes vnto me, I cast doune my head to the ground and helde my tunge. ¹⁶ Beholde, there touched my lippes one very lyke vnto a man. Then opened I my mouthe, & sayde vnto him, that stode before me: O my Lorde, my pointes are lowsed in the vision, and there is no more strength within me: ¹⁷ Howe may my Lordes seruaunt then talke with my Lorde? seynge there is no strength in me: so that I can not take my breth? ¹⁸ Vpon this there touched me agayne, one muche lyke a man, and comforted me, ¹⁹ saying: O thou man so well beloued feare not: be content, take a good herte vnto the, & be strong. So when he had spoken vnto me, I recouered and sayd: Speake on my Lorde, for thou haste refreshed me. ²⁰ Then sayde he: knowest thou wherfore I am came vnto the? now wyl I go again to fyght with the prince of the Perses. As sone as I go forth, lo, the prince of Grekelande shall come. ²¹ Neuertheles I will shew the the thinge, that is fast noted in the scripture of truethe. And as for all yonder matters, there is none that helpeth me in them, but Michael youre prynce.

³² And as concernynge that the dreame was doubled vnto Pharao the seconde tyme, it betokeneth that the thynges is certanly prepared of God, and that God wyll shortlye brynge it to passe.

²² And the fyrst yere of Cyrus kynge of Persia to fynishe the worde of the Lorde by the mouth of Ieremiah, the Lorde stered vp the spirite of Cyrus kyng of Persia that he made a proclamacion thorouout all his kyngdom, and therto sett it vp in wrytynge, sayinge.

⁷ And Kynge Cyrus broughte forth of the vessels of the house of the Lorde, whiche Nabuchodonozor had taken oute of Ierusalem, and put in the house of his God. ⁸ But Cyrus the kynge of Persia brought them forth by Mithridates the treasurer, & numbred them vnto Selbazar the prynce of Iuda.

⁷ Neuertheles they gaue money vnto the masons and carpenters, and meate and dryncke and oyle vnto them of Zidon and of Tire, to brynge them Cedre tymbre from Libanus by Sea vnto Ioppa, accordynge to the commaundement of Cyrus the kynge of Persia.

³ But Zorobabel and Iesua and the other auncient fathers of Israel answered them: It belongeth not to you, but to vs to buylde the house vnto oure God: for we oure selues wil buylde alone vnto the Lorde oure God of Israel, as Cyrus the kinge of Persia hathe commaunded vs.

⁵ and hyred councelers agaynst them, and hindred their deuyce, as longe as Cyrus the Kynge of Persia lyued, vntyll the raigne of Darius kynge of Persia.

¹³ But in the fyrst yeare of Cyrus the king of Babilon, the same kynge Cyrus commaunded to build this house of God, ¹⁴ for the vesselles of gould & siluer in the house of God, which Nabuchodonozor toke oute of the temple at Ierusalem, & brought them into the temple at Babilon, those dyd Cyrus the kinge take out of the temple at Babilon, & deliuered them vnto Sasbazar by name, whom he made captaine ¹⁵ and said vnto him. Take these vesselles, go thy waye, and bringe them vnto the temple at Ierusalem, and let the house of God be buylded in hys place. ¹⁶ Then came the same Sasbazar and layde the foundacyon of the house of God at Ierusalem. Sence that tyme hath it bene in buyldinge, and yet is it not fynyshed. ¹⁷ Yf it please the kynge now, let there be search made in the kynges treasure house which is at Babylon, whether it haue bene kynge Cyrus commaundement, that the house of God at Ierusalem should be builded: & send vs the kinges minde concernynge the same.

³ In the first year of kyng Cirus, commaunded the same king Cirus to buylde the house of God at Ierusalem, in the place where the sacryfyce is made, & to lay the foundacion to beare thre skore cubites height & thre skore cubytes bredth,

¹⁴ And the Elders of the Iewes builded, and they prospered thorowe the Prophesyenge of Aggeus the Prophet and Zachari the sonne of Ado: and they buylded, and set vp the worcke, accordinge to the commaundemente of the God of Israel, and after the commaundement of Cyrus, Darius & Arthaxerses kinges of Persia.

²⁸ I saye to Cyrus: thou art myne herd man: so that he shall fulfill all thinges after my will. I saye to Ierusalem: be thou buylded, & to the temple: be thou fast grounded.

⁷ Vnto these the chefe chamberlayne gaue other names, & called Daniel, Balthazar: Ananias, Sidrach, Misael, Misach, and Asarias, Abednago.

¹⁷ God gaue nowe these foure spryngaldes connyng and learnyng in all scrypture and wysdome: but vnto Daniell specyally, he gaue vnderstandynge of all vysyons and dreames.

²¹ And Daniel abode styl, vnto the fyrste yeare of kynge Cyrus.

²¹ he chaunged the tymes & ages: he putteth doune kynges, he setteth vp kinges he geueth wysdome vnto the wyse, & vnderstandynge to those that vnderstande,

⁸ tyll at the laste, there came one Daniel (otherwyse called Balthazar, accordynge to the name of my God) whiche hath the sprete of the holy Goddes in hym: to whom I tolde the dreame, saying:

¹² because that suche an aboundaunt spryte knowledge & wysdome (to expound dreames, to open secretes, and to declare harde dowtes) was founde in hym: yea euen in Daniel whom the kynge named Balthazar. Let thys same Daniel be sente for, and he shall tell, what it meaneth.

¹⁷ Daniel aunswered, and sayde before the kynge. As for thy rewardes, kepe them to thy selfe, or geue thy ryche gyftes to another: yet not the lesse, I wyll rede the wrytynge vnto the kynge, and shewe hym the interpretacion therof.

²⁸ This Daniell prospered in the raigne of Darius and Cirus of Persia.

¹⁶ and I hearde a mans voyce in the ryuer of Vlai, which cryed and sayd: O Gabriel, make this man vnderstande the vysion.

²⁶ And this vysyon that is shewed vnto the, is as sure as the euenynge & the morninge. Therfore wryte thou vp this sighte, for it wilbe longe, or it come to passe.

²² He infourmed me, and spake vnto me: O Daniel sayde he, I am now come to make the vnderstande it: ²³ For as sone as thou begannest to make thy prayer, it was so diuised, and therfore am I come to shewe the. And why? For thou arte a man greatly beloued. Wherfore, pondre the matter well, that thou mayest learne, to vnderstande the vision.

¹⁴ & am come to shewe the, what shall happen vnto thy people in the latter dayes. For it wilbe longe yet or the vision be fulfilled.

² and nowe wil I shew the the trueth. Beholde, there shall stande vp yet thre kynges in Persia, but the fourth shal be farre rycher then they all. And when he is in the chefest power of his ryches, he shall prouoke euery man against the realme of Grekelande.

⁴ And thou O Daniel, shut vp these wordes, & seale the boke til the last time. Manye shal go aboute here & there, & then shal knowledge encrease.

⁹ He answered: Go thy waye Daniel, for these wordes shalbe closed vp, & sealed, till the last tyme:

²⁰ And behold thou shalt be dombe, and not able to speake vnto the tyme that these thinges be performed, because thou beleuest not my wordes whiche shalbe fulfylled in their ceason.

⁹ And he sayed vnto me, happye are they whyche are called vnto the Lambes supper. And he said vnto me, these are true sayinges of God.

⁴ And there resorted vnto me all such as feared the worde of the Lorde God of Israell because of the greate transgression. And I sate mournynge vntyll the euenynge sacryfyce. ⁵ And aboute the euenynge sacryfyce I rose vp from my heauynes, & rente my clothes & my rayment, and fel vpon my knees, and spred out my handes vnto the Lorde my God,

⁴ When I hearde these wordes, I sat me doune and wepte, and mourned two dayes, & fasted and prayed before the God of heauen

⁹ I wyll say vnto God my stony rock: why host thou forgotten me? why go I thus heuely, whyle the enemye oppresseth me?

² For thou (O God) art my strength: why hast thou shut me from the? Why go I then so heuely, whyle the enemye oppresseth me?

¹ By the waters of Babylon we sat downe and weapte, when we remembred Syon. ² As for our harpes, we hanged them vpon the trees, that are therin. ³ Then they that led vs awaye captyue, requyred of vs a songe and melody in our heauynes: synge vs one of the songes of Syon. ⁴ How shall we synge the Lordes songe in a straunge land? ⁵ If I forget the, O Ierusalem, let my right hande be forgotten.

¹⁰ Reioyse with Ierusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that loue her. Be ioyful with her, all ye that mourneth for her.

¹ O who wil geue my heade water ynough, and a wel of teares for myne eyes: that I may wepe night and day, for the slaughter of my people?

²⁴ .Lxx. weakes are determed ouer thy people, and ouer the holy citie: that the wickednesse maye be consumed, that the sinne maye haue an ende, that the offence may be reconcyled, and to bringe in euerlastinge righteousnesse, to fulfill the visions and the Prophetes, and to annoynte the most holy one. ²⁵ Vnderstande this then, and marcke it well, that from the tyme it shalbe concluded, to go and repayre Ierusalem againe, vnto Christ (or the annointed) prince: there shalbe seuen weakes. Then shal the stretes and walles be buylded again .lxij. weakes, but wyth harde troublous time. ²⁶ After these .lxii. weakes shall Christ be slaine and they shall haue no pleasure in hym. Then shall there come a people with the Prince, and destroye the cytie and the Sanctuarye: & his ende shall come as the water floude. But the desolacion shall continue till the ende of the battell. ²⁷ He shall make a stronge bonde with many, for the space of a weke: and when the weke is halfe gone, he shall put doune the slayne and meateofferinge. And in the temple there shalbe an abhominable desolacion, till it haue destroyed all. And it is concluded, that thys wasting shall continue vnto the ende.

¹⁵ And Iesus sayd vnto them. Can the weddyng children morne as long as the bridegrome is with them? The tyme will come when the bridegrome shalbe taken from them, and then shal they faste:

² that I haue great heauines and continuall sorowe in my hert.

⁹ Suffer afflictyons: sorowe ye and wepe. Let youre laughter be turned to mornynge and youre ioye to heauynes.

⁵ And yf any man wyl hurte them, fire shal proceade out of theyr mouthes, and consume theyr enemyes. And yf anye man wyll hurte them this wyse muste he be killed.

²⁴ And Miphiboseth the sonne of Saul came also to mete the kinge, and hath nether dressed his fete nor shauen hys beard nor washed his clothes from the tyme the kyng departed, vntyl he came again in peace.

²⁰ so that hys lyfe maye awaye wyth no bread, & hys soule abhorreth to eate anye dayntye meate.

⁶ And therfore shall the course deuoure the earth: for they that dwel theron haue sinned, wherfore they shal be brent also, and those that remaine shalbe very few. ⁷ The swete wyne shal mourne, the grapes shalbe weake, and al that haue bene mery in harte, shall sighe. ⁸ The myrth of tabrettes shalbe layde doune, the chere of the ioyfull shall cease & the pleasure of lutes shal haue an ende ⁹ there shal no more wyne be droncke wyth myrth, the beere shalbe bytter to them that dryncke it, ¹⁰ the wicked cytyes shalbe broken donne, al houses shalbe shut, that no man maye come in. ¹¹ In the stretes shall there be lyft vp a crye because of wine, al mens chere shall vanyshe awaye & al ioye of the earth shal passe.

¹⁸ So the kinge wente into his palace, & kepte him sober al night, so that there was no table spred before him, neyther coulde he take any slepe.

⁸ he shal carye them awaye captiues into Egipte, & he shall preuayle agaynste the kyng of the north certayne yeares.

¹¹ For so muche then as ye oppresse the poore, & robbe him of his best sustenaunce: therfore, where as ye haue buylded houses of square stone, ye shall not dwel in them. Maruelous pleasaunt vyneyardes shal ye plante, but the wyne of them shall ye not drynck: and why?

⁹ Awaye with the syluer, awaye wyth the golde: for here is no ende of treasure. There shalbe a multytude of all maner costlye ornamentes.

¹⁷ But thou, when thou fastest, annoint thine head, & wash thy face

²⁷ but I tame my bodye and bringe it into subieccion, leste after that I haue preached to other, I my selfe should be a cast away.

¹⁴ And the name of the thyrde ryuer is Hydekell, whyche runneth on the easte syde of the Assyrians. And the fourth ryuer is Euphrates.

³ At the same tyme came the worde of the Lord vnto Ezechiel the sonne of Buzi the Preste, in the lande of the Caldees by the water of Cubar, where the hande of the Lorde came vpon hym.

² I saw in vision (& when I saw it, I was at Susis in the chefe citie, whyche lyeth in the lande of Elam) and in the vision, me thought I was by the ryuer of Vlai.

¹³ And when Iosua was come to Iericho, he lyfte vp his eyes and loked: and behold there stode a man before him with his swerd drawen in his hande. And Iosua went vnto hym, and sayde vnto hym: arte thou on our syde, or on our aduersaries.

⁵ Ryghteousnesse shalbe the gyrdle of his loynes, truthe & faythfulnesse, the gyrdynge vp of hys raynes.

⁹ namelye, woode, syluer, whiche is brought oute of Tharsis, and beaten to plates: and golde from Ophir, a worcke that is made with the hande of the craftesmen and the caster, clothed with yelowe sylcke & scarlet: euen so is the worcke of theyr wyse men altogether.

² Then came there sixe men oute of the strete of the vpper porte toward the north, and euery man a weapen in hys hand to the slaughter. There was one amongest them, that had on hym a lynen rayment, & a wryters ynckhorne by hys syde. These wente in, & stode besyde the brasen aulter:

⁶ And one of them sayde vnto him, whiche was clothed in lynen, and stode aboue vpon the waters of the floud: How longe shall it be to the ende of the wonderous worckes? ⁷ Then hearde I the man with the lynen clothes, whiche stode aboue vpon the waters of the floude: when he helde vp his right and lefte hande vnto heauen, and sware, by hym whyche liueth for euer: that it shall tary for a tyme, two tymes and halfe a tyme: & when the power of the holy people is cleane scatred abroade, then shal al these thinges be fulfilled.

⁸ I sawe by nyght, and lo, there sate one vpon a read horse & stode styll amonge the Myrte trees, that were beneth vpon the grounde: and behynde hym were there reade, spekled, and whyt horses.

¹⁴ Stande therfore, and your loynes gyrde about wyth veritie, hauinge on the breste plate of rightuousnes,

¹³ and in the myddes of the candelstickes, one lyke vnto the sonne of man clothed wyth a lynnen garment doune to the grounde, and gyrde aboute the pappes with a golden gyrdle. ¹⁴ Hys heade and hys heares were whyte, as whyte woul and as snowe: & hys eyes were as a flamme of fyre: ¹⁵ & hys fete lyke vnto brasse, as thoughe they brent in a fornace: & his voice as the sound of many waters.

⁶ & the .vij. angels came out of the temple, which had the .vij. plages, clothed in pure and bryght linnen, & hauing their breastes gyrded wt golden gyrdels. ⁷ And one of the .iiij. beastes gaue to the .vij. angels .vij. golden vialles, ful of the wrath of God, whiche liueth for euermore.

²⁰ The fourth: a Turcas, Onix and Iaspis. And they shalbe set in golde in their inclosers,

⁷ Their legges were streyght, but their fete were lyke bullackes fete, and they glystered, as it had bene fayre scoured metall.

¹⁴ When the beastes wente forwarde and backwarde, one wolde haue thought it had lyghtened.

¹⁶ The fashyon and worcke of the wheles was lyke the sea. The foure wheles were ioyned and made (to loke vpon) as it had bene one whele in another.

²⁴ And when they wente forth, I hearde the noyse of their wynges, lyke the noyse of greate waters, as it had bene the voyce of the greate God, and a russhynge together as it were of an hoost of men. And when they stode styll, they let downe their wynges.

⁹ I sawe also foure wheles besyde the Cherubyns, so that by euerye Cherub there stode a whele. And the wheles were (to loke vpon) after the fashyon of the precyous stone of Tharsis:

² and was transfigured before them, and his face did shyne as the sunne and hys clothes were as whyte as the light:

²⁹ And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenaunce was chaunged, and his garment was white and shone.

¹³ and in the myddes of the candelstickes, one lyke vnto the sonne of man clothed wyth a lynnen garment doune to the grounde, and gyrde aboute the pappes with a golden gyrdle. ¹⁴ Hys heade and hys heares were whyte, as whyte woul and as snowe: & hys eyes were as a flamme of fyre: ¹⁵ & hys fete lyke vnto brasse, as thoughe they brent in a fornace: & his voice as the sound of many waters. ¹⁶ And he had in hys ryghthande .vij. starres. And out of his mouth went a sharp two edged sweard. And hys face shone euen as the sonne in hys strength. ¹⁷ And when I sawe hym, I fell at hys fete, euen as dead. And he layde hys ryght hande vpon me, saiynge vnto me: feare not, I am the fyrste, and the laste,

¹ And I sawe an other myghtye angel come doune from heauen, clothed wyth a cloude, and the rayne bowe vpon hys heade. And hys face as it were the sunne, and hys fete as it were pyllars of fyr

³ And cryed wyth a loude voyce, as when a Lyon roreth. And when he had cried, seuen thonders spake their voyces. ⁴ And when the .vij. thonders had spoken their voyces, I was aboute to wryte. And I harde a voice from heauen saying vnto me, seale vp those thynges, which the .vij. thonders spake, and wryte them not.

¹² His eyes were as a flame of fyre, and on hys head were manye crounes, and he had a name wrytten, that no man knewe but he hym self.

²⁰ the fyft sardonix: the .vi. sardeos: the .vij. chrysolite the .viij. beral: the .ix. a topas, the tenth a chrisoprasos: the .xi. a Iacint: and the .xij. an amatist.

¹⁰ And he answered: Thy voyce I heard in the garden, but I was afrayed, because I was naked, and therfore hyd my selfe.

¹⁷ And Eliseus prayed & sayde: Lord open the eyes of the younge man, & he sawe. And beholde, the mountayne was ful of horses and charettes of fyre rounde aboute Elizeus. ¹⁸ And when the soudyars came doune to him: Elizeus prayed vnto the Lorde & sayde. Smyte thys people wyth blyndnesse. And he smote them wyth blyndnes accordyng to the desyre of Elizeus. ¹⁹ Then Elizeus said vnto them this is not the waye, nor thys is not the toune: But folowe me, and I wyll bryng you to the man ye seke. And he led them to Samaria. ²⁰ When they were come to Samaria, Elyzeus sayde: Lorde, open theyr eyes & let them se. And the Lorde opened theyr eyes that they sawe. And behold they were in the myddes of Samaria

¹⁰ And therfore get the soone into some rock, & hyde the in the grounde from the sighte of the fearful iudge, & from the glorye of his mageste:

²⁴ Maye eny man hyde hym self so, that I shal not se him? sayeth the Lorde. Do not I fulfyll heauen and earth? sayeth the Lorde.

¹⁸ Thou sonne of man: wyth a fearfull tremblynge shalte thou eate thy breade, with carefulnesse & sorowe shalte thou drincke thy water.

⁷ Then the men whiche iornyed wyth hym stode amased, for they heard a voice, but sawe no man.

⁹ And they that were with me sawe verelye a lyghte and were afrayde: but they hearde not the voyce of hym that spake with me.

²¹ euen so terryble was the syght which appeared, Moyses sayde: I feare and quake.

²⁴ & taried behind hym selfe alone. And ther wresteled a man wyth him vnto the breaking of the day. ²⁵ And when he sawe that he could not preuayle agaynste hym, he smote hym vnder the thye, & the senowe of Iacobs thye shranke as he wrestled with him

³¹ And as he went ouer Pheniel the sonne rose vpon him, & he halted vpon his thye:

³ Then Moyses sayed: I wyll go hence, and se thys greate syghte howe it commeth that the bush burneth not.

²⁸ Thus farre extende the wordes. Neuertheles I Daniel was so vexed in my thoughtes, that my countenaunce chaunced, but the wordes I kepte styl in my herte.

⁷ I sawe him drawe nye vnto the ramme, beynge very fearce vpon him, yea he gaue him suche a stroke, that he brake his two hornes: Neyther had the ramme so much strength as to stande before him: but he cast him doune, trodde him vnder his fete: and no man was able to delyuer the ramme out of his power.

²⁷ Vpon this was I Daniel very fainte, so that I lay sicke certayne dayes: but when I rose vp, I wente aboute the kinges busynes, and marueled at the vision, neuertheles no man knewe of it.

¹⁶ When I heare thys, my bodye is vexed, my lyppes tremble at the voyce therof, my bones corruppe, I am afrayed where I stande. O that I myght rest in the day of trouble, that I myght go vp vnto oure people, whiche are alredye prepared.

⁶ And when the disciples hearde that, they fell on theyr faces and were soore afrayed.

⁶ And yet he wyste not what he sayde, for they were afrayde.

³² Beholde, the houre draweth nye, and is all readye come that ye shalbe scatered euerye man hys wayes, and shall leaue me alone. And yet am I not alone. For the father is with me.

² I knowe a man in Christe aboue .xiiij. yeares agone (whether he were in the bodye I cannot tell, or whether he were oute of the bodye I cannot tell, God knoweth) whiche was taken vp into the third heauen. ³ And I knowe the same man (whether in the bodye, or oute of the bodye, I cannot tell, God knoweth)

⁷ And lest I shoulde be exalted out of measure thorowe the aboundaunce of reuelacions there was geuen vnto me vnquyetnes of the fleshe, the messenger of Satan to buffete me: because I shoulde no be exalted oute of measure.

¹⁷ And when I sawe hym, I fell at hys fete, euen as dead. And he layde hys ryght hande vpon me, saiynge vnto me: feare not, I am the fyrste, and the laste,

²¹ Then the Lord god cast a slomber on Adam, and he slepte. And then he toke out one of his ribbes, & in stede ther of he filled vp the place wt flesh.

¹² And when the sunne was downe, ther fell a slumbre vpon Abram. And loo, feare and greate darckenes came vpon him.

¹³ In the phantasyes and thoughtes of the vysyons of the nyght, when slepe cometh on men:

¹⁵ In dreames and visyons of the nyght season (when slombring commeth vpon men, that they fall a slepe in theyr beddes)

² As I was a slepe, & my hert wakynge, I hearde the voyce of my beloued, when he knocked. Open to me (sayde he) O my sister, my loue, my doue, my derlynge: for my heade is full of dewe, and the lockes of my heere are full of the night droppes.

¹⁸ Nowe as he was speakynge vnto me, I waxed faynte, so that I suncke doune to the ground. But he toke hold vpon me, and set me vp agayne,

³² Peter & they that were with him were heauy with slepe. And when they awoke, they sawe his glory, and two men standinge wyth hym.

⁴⁵ And he rose vp from prayer, and came to his disciples, and founde them slepinge for sorowe,

⁹ And with that, the Lorde stretched oute his hande, and touched my mouthe, and sayde moreouer vnto me. Beholde I put my wordes in thy mouth,

²¹ yea, whyle I was yet speakinge in my prayer, beholde the man Gabrel (whome I had sene afore in the vision) came flying to me, and touched me about the offeringe time in the eueninge.

¹⁶ Beholde, there touched my lippes one very lyke vnto a man. Then opened I my mouthe, & sayde vnto him, that stode before me: O my Lorde, my pointes are lowsed in the vision, and there is no more strength within me:

¹⁸ Vpon this there touched me agayne, one muche lyke a man, and comforted me,

¹⁴ feare came vpon me and drede & made my bones to shake. ¹⁵ And when the wynd passed by before my presence it made the heares of my flesshe stande vp. ¹⁶ He stode there and I knew not his face, an ymage there was before me & there was stylnes, so that I heard thys voyce.

¹ At thys, my herte is astonyed, & moued out of hys place.

¹¹ So shall the kynge haue pleasure in thy beuty, for he is thy Lorde, & thou shalte worshyp hym.

¹⁰ There wyll I turne me vnto my loue, and he shall turne hym vnto me.

¹ And then sayde he vnto me: Stande vp vpon thy fete (O thou sonne of man) and I wyll talke with the.

¹⁶ and I hearde a mans voyce in the ryuer of Vlai, which cryed and sayd: O Gabriel, make this man vnderstande the vysion. ¹⁷ So he came, and stode by me. But I was afrayed at his commynge, and fell doune vpon my face. Then he sayde vnto me: O thou sonne of man, marcke well, for in the last tyme shall this vision be fulfylled.

³ so that I had no lust to eate bread: as for fleshe and wine there came none within my mouth: No, I dyd not ones annoynte my selfe, till the whole thre weakes were oute.

¹⁹ saying: O thou man so well beloued feare not: be content, take a good herte vnto the, & be strong. So when he had spoken vnto me, I recouered and sayd: Speake on my Lorde, for thou haste refreshed me.

⁸ And they wente oute quickly, and fled from the sepulchre. For they trembled and were amased. Neyther sayed they anye thynge to anye man, for they were afrayed.

²³ There was one of hys disciples which leaned on Iesus bosome whome Iesus loued.

²⁰ Peter tourned aboute, and sawe that disciple whom Iesus loued folowinge which also leaned on his breste at supper and saied: Lord which is he that shal betraye the?

⁶ And he both tremblinge and astonied sayde: Lorde what wylt thou haue me to do? And the Lorde sayde vnto hym: aryse, and go into the cytye, and it shal be tolde what thou shalt do.

¹⁶ but ryse and stand vp on thy fete. For I haue appeared vnto the for this purpose, to make the a minister, and a wytnes both of those thinges, whiche thou hast sene, and of those thinges in the which I wil appeare

²⁹ And this shalbe an ordynaunce for euer vnto you. And euen in the tenth day of the seuenth moneth, ye shall humble youre soules and shall do no worke at all: whether it be one of youre selues or a straunger that soiourneth among you,

³¹ It shalbe a Sabboth of rest vnto you, and ye shal humble your soules, and it shalbe an ordynaunce foreuer.

⁷ And the tenth daye of that same seuenth moneth shalbe an holy feast vnto you, & ye shall humble youre soules and shall doo no maner worke therin.

¹⁰ I wepte and chastened my selfe with fastyng, and that was turned to my reprofe.

⁴ Saye vnto them that are of a fearfull herte: Be of good there, & feare not. Beholde youre God cometh, to take vengeaunce, and to rewarde, God commeth his owne selfe, & wyll delyuer you.

¹⁰ be not afrayd, for I will be with the. Loke not behynde the, for I will be thy God, to strength the, helpe the, and to kepe the with this right hand of myne.

¹⁴ Be not a frayde thou lytle worme Iacob, & thou despysed Israell for I will helpe the, sayeth the Lorde, and the holy one of Israel thyne auenger.

⁹ Then yf thou callest, the Lorde shall answere the: yf thou cryest, he shall saye: here I am. Yea, yf thou layest awaie thy burthens, and holdest thy fingers, and ceasest from blasphemous talkinge,

²⁴ And it shalbe, that or euer they call, I shall answere them. While they are yet but thinckinge howe to speake. I shal heare them.

³ and I turned me vnto god the Lorde, for to praye and make myne intercession, with fastinge, sackcloth & ashes, ⁴ I prayed before the Lorde my God, and knowledged, sayinge: O Lorde, thou greate and fearfull God, thou that kepest couenaunt and mercye wyth them, whiche loue the, and do thy commaundementes.

²⁰ As I was yet speakinge at my prayers, knoweledginge myne owne sinnes, and the synnes of my people, makinge so mine intercession before the Lorde my God, for the holye hils sake of my God: ²¹ yea, whyle I was yet speakinge in my prayer, beholde the man Gabrel (whome I had sene afore in the vision) came flying to me, and touched me about the offeringe time in the eueninge.

² At the same time I Daniel mourned for the space of thre weakes, ³ so that I had no lust to eate bread: as for fleshe and wine there came none within my mouth: No, I dyd not ones annoynte my selfe, till the whole thre weakes were oute.

¹¹ sayinge vnto me: O Daniel, thou well beloued man: take good hede of the wordes, that I shal say vnto the, and stande ryght, for vnto the am I now sent. And when he had sayde these wordes, I stode vp tremblinge.

⁵ The aungel aunswered & sayd to the women: feare ye not. I knowe that ye seke Iesus, whiche was crucifyed:

¹⁰ Then sayde Iesus vnto them: be not afrayd. Go and tel my brethren that they go into Galile, & there shal they se me.

⁶ And he sayed vnto them, be not afrayed: ye seke Iesus of Nazareth whiche was crucifyed. He is rysen, he is not here. Beholde the place where they put hym.

¹³ And the aungel sayde vnto him: feare not Zacharye, for thy prayer is heard: And thy wyfe Elysabeth shall beare the a sonne, & thou shalt call his name Iohn,

³⁰ And the aungell sayed vnto her: feare not Mary: for thou haste founde grace wyth God.

¹⁰ But the aungel sayde vnto them: Be not afrayed. For beholde, I bringe you tydinges of greate ioye that shall come to al the people:

³⁸ And he sayde vnto them: Why are ye troubled, and why do thoughtes aryse in your hertes?

³ The same man saw in a vision euydently aboute the ninth houre of the daye, an aungel of God commyng in to hym, and saiyng vnto him: Cornelius. ⁴ When he loked on hym he was afraid and said, what is it Lord? He sayed vnto hym: Thy prayers and all thy almeses are come vp into remembraunce before God. ⁵ And now send men to Ioppa and call for one, Symon named also Peter.

³⁰ And Cornelius sayde: Thys daye nowe .iiij. dayes I fasted and at the nynthe houre I prayde in my house: and beholde, a man stode before me in brighte clothinge, ³¹ and sayd: Cornelius, thy prayer is hearde, and thine almes deades are had in remembraunce in the sight of God.

⁹ Then spake the Lorde to Paule in the nyght by a vision: be not afrayde, but speake, and hold not thy peace: ¹⁰ for I am with the, and no man shal inuad the that shal hurt the. For I haue much people in this citie.

²⁴ sayinge. Feare not Paule, for thou muste be broughte before Cesar. And lo, God hath geuen vnto the all that sayle wyth the.

⁴ Then the folke of the lande hindered the people of Iuda, and made them afrayed to buylde, ⁵ and hyred councelers agaynst them, and hindred their deuyce, as longe as Cyrus the Kynge of Persia lyued, vntyll the raigne of Darius kynge of Persia. ⁶ But when Ahasuerus was kinge, in the beginnynge of hys raygne wrote they vnto him a complaynte against them of Iuda and Ierusalem.

²⁴ Then ceased the worck of the house of God at Ierusalem, and contynued so vnto the second year of Darius kynge of Persia.

²⁰ Then sayde he: knowest thou wherfore I am came vnto the? now wyl I go again to fyght with the prince of the Perses. As sone as I go forth, lo, the prince of Grekelande shall come. ²¹ Neuertheles I will shew the the thinge, that is fast noted in the scripture of truethe. And as for all yonder matters, there is none that helpeth me in them, but Michael youre prynce.

¹ The tyme wil come also, that the greate Prince Michael, which standeth on thy people syde, shal aryse vp, for there shall come a tyme of trouble, such as neuer was, sens there beganne to be any people, vnto that same time. Then shal thy people be deliuered, yea, al those that be found written in the boke.

¹ And he shewed me Iesua the hye priest, standynge before the angell of the Lorde, and Satan stode at hys ryghte hande to resiste hym. ² And the Lorde sayde vnto Satan: The Lorde reproue the (thou Satan) yea the Lorde that hath chosen Ierusalem, reproue the. Is not thys a brande taken out of the fyre?

¹² For we wrestle not againste fleshe and bloude: but against rule, agaynst power, and againste worldlye rulers of the darckenes of thys worlde, againste spyrytuall wickednes, for heauenly thynges.

¹⁰ and ye are complete in hym, whiche is the head of al rule and power,

¹⁸ And therfore we woulde haue come vnto you I Paule ones and agayne: but Sathan withstode vs.

²² whyche is on the right hande of God, and is gone into heauen, aungelles, power, and mighte, subdued vnto him.

⁹ Yet Michael the Archangel when he stroue agaynst the deuyl, and dysputed aboute the bodye of Moyses, durste not geue raylyug sentence, but sayed: the Lorde rebuke the.

⁷ And there was great battayle in heauen, Michael and his angels fought with the dragon, and the dragon fought and his angells,

¹ And Iacob called for hys sonnes & sayde: come together, that I may tell you what shall happen you in the last daies.

³⁰ In thy tribulation and when all these thynges are come vpon the euen in the later dayes, thou shalte turne vnto the Lorde thy God, and shalte herken vnto hys voyce.

²¹ And then when much mischyefe and tribulation is come vpon them thys song shall answere before them, and be a wytnes. It shall not be forgotten out of the mouthes of theyr sede: for I know their imagination which they goo aboute euen nowe before I haue brought theym into the lande whych I sware.

² It will be also in processe of tyme: That the hyl where the house of the Lorde is buylded, shal be the chefe amonge hylles, and exalted aboue al lytle hylles. And all the Heathen shall preache vnto hym, & the multytude of people shall go vnto hym,

²⁸ Onely God in heauen can open secretes, and he it is, that sheweth the kynge Nabuchodonosor, what is for to come in the latter dayes. Thy dreame, & that whiche thou hast sene in thyne heade vpon thy bed, is thys:

²² He infourmed me, and spake vnto me: O Daniel sayde he, I am now come to make the vnderstande it:

¹ In the thirde yeare of king Cirus of Persia, there was shewed vnto Daniel (otherwyse called Balthazar) a matter, yea a true matter, but it is yet a longe tyme vnto it. He vnderstode the matter well, and perceyued what the vision was.

⁵ But afterwarde shall the children of Israell conuerte, and seke the Lorde their God: and Dauid their kinge: & in the latter dayes, they shall worshyppe the Lorde, and hys louynge kindnesse.

¹ Bvt in the latter dayes it wyll come to passe, that the hyll of the Lordes house shallbe sett vp hyer then enye mountaynes or hylles: Yee the people shall prease vnto it,

³ for the vysyon is yet farre of for a tyme, but at the last it shal come to passe & not fayle. And thoughe he tarye, yet wayte thou for hym, for in very dede he wyll come, & not be slacke

¹ Thys vnderstand, that in the last dayes shall come perylous tymes.

³ howe shal we escape, yf we despise so great saluacyon, whyche at the fyrst began to be preached of the Lorde hym selfe, and afterward was confirmed to vswarde, by them that hearde it,

²⁷ In that daye shall thy mouth be opened to him, whiche is escaped, that thou mayest speake, & be no more domme: Yea and thou shalt be their shewtoken, that they may knowe, howe that I am the Lorde.

²² Now the hande of the Lorde had bene vpon me the euenyng afore this man (which was escaped) came vnto me, & had opened my mouth, vntyll the mornynge that he came to me: yee he opened my mouth, so that I was nomore domme.

⁹ Yet hearde I the voyce of his wordes: and as sone as I hearde it, fayntnesse came vpon me, and I fell doune flat to the grounde vpon my face.

¹⁰ And Moses sayed vnto the Lorde: oh my Lorde I am not eloquent, no not in tymes past, and namely sence thou hast spoken vnto thy seruaunt: but I am slowe mouthed, and slow tonged.

¹³ But he sayed: oh my Lord, send I pray the whom thou wylt.

¹⁴ And he answered: Naye, but I am the captayne of the hoste of the Lorde, & am nowe come. And Iosua fell on hys face to the earth and dyd reuerence, and sayd vnto hym, what sayth my Lorde vnto hys seruaunt.

¹³ And Gedeon answered him: Oh my Lorde, yf the Lord be with vs, why is al this come vpon vs: ye & where be hys myracles whiche oure fathers tolde vs of & sayde, the Lorde brought vs out of Egyypt. But now the Lorde hath forsaken vs, & delyuered vs into the handes of the Madianites.

¹⁵ And he aunswered hym: Oh Lord wherewith shuld I saue Israel? Behold my kynred is the poorest in Manasses, & am the least in my fathers house.

⁸ Then Manoah made intercession to the Lorde, and sayde: I praye the my Lorde let the man of God, which thou sendest come ones more vnto vs and teache vs, what we shal do vnto the lad when he is borne.

¹⁸ for where much wysdome is, there is also great trauayle and disquietnes: and the more knowledge a man hath, the more is his care.

⁷ and touched my mouthe, and sayde: lo, thys hath touched my mouth, and thyne vnryghtuousnes is taken awaye, and thy synne forgeuen.

²⁶ Aboue the firmament that was ouer their heades, there was the fashyon of a seate, as it had bene made of Saphir. Vpon the seate there sat one lyke a man.

²⁷ But when I speake vnto the, then open thy mouth, and saye: Thus sayeth the Lorde God: who so heareth, lett hym heare: who so wyll not, let hym leaue: for it is an obstynate housholde.

¹⁵ My herte was vexed, and I Daniel had a troubled spirite within me, and the visions of my heade made me afrayed:

¹⁵ Now when I Daniel had sene this vision, and sought for the vnderstandinge of it: beholde, there stode before me a thynge like vnto a man,

¹⁷ So he came, and stode by me. But I was afrayed at his commynge, and fell doune vpon my face. Then he sayde vnto me: O thou sonne of man, marcke well, for in the last tyme shall this vision be fulfylled.

⁵ I lift vp mine eyes, and loked: and beholde, a man clothed in linen, whose loynes were girded vp with fyne goulde of Araby: ⁶ his body was like the Chrisolite stone, his face (to loke vpon) was like lighteninge, his eyes as the flamme of fyre, his armes and fete were lyke fayre glysterynge metall, but the voyce of his wordes was like the voyce of a multitude.

⁸ I was left there my selfe alone, and sawe this greate vision, so longe till there remayned no more strengthe within me: yea I lost my coloure cleane, I waited awaye, and my strength was gone. ⁹ Yet hearde I the voyce of his wordes: and as sone as I hearde it, fayntnesse came vpon me, and I fell doune flat to the grounde vpon my face. ¹⁰ And beholde, an hande touched me, whyche set me vpon my knees, and vpon the palmes of my handes,

¹⁷ Howe may my Lordes seruaunt then talke with my Lorde? seynge there is no strength in me: so that I can not take my breth? ¹⁸ Vpon this there touched me agayne, one muche lyke a man, and comforted me,

⁸ I hearde it well, but I vnderstode it not. Then sayde I: O my Lord, what shall happen after that?

⁶⁴ And his mouthe was opened immediatlye, and his tonge also, and he spake laudinge God.

¹⁵ For I wyll geue you a mouthe and wisdome, where against all youre aduersaries shall not be able to speake nor resyste.

²⁸ Thomas aunswered and said vnto hym: My Lord and my God:

⁷ Neuerthelesse he made hym selfe of no reputation, & toke on him the shap of a seruaunt, and became lyke vnto men, ⁸ and was founde in hys aparell as a man. He humbled hym selfe, and became obediente vnto the death euen the death of the crosse.

¹³ and in the myddes of the candelstickes, one lyke vnto the sonne of man clothed wyth a lynnen garment doune to the grounde, and gyrde aboute the pappes with a golden gyrdle.

²⁰ & said moreouer. Behold thy seruaunt Iacob cometh after vs, for he said. I wyl pease his wrath wt the present that goth before me, and afterward I wil se hym my selfe, so peraduenture he wil receiue me to grace.

¹⁰ and sawe the God of Israel, and vnder his feate as it were a brycke worke of Saphir & as it were the facion of heauen when it is cleare, ¹¹ & vpon the nobles of the chyldren of Israel he set not hys hande. And when they had sene God they ate and dronke.

²⁰ And he sayed furthermore, thou maiste not see my for there shall no man se me and lyue.

²² And when Gedeon perceyued that it was an angel, he sayd: Alas my Lorde Iehouah, that I haue sene an angell of the Lord face to face.

²¹ But the angel of the Lord dyd no more apeare vnto Manoah and hys wyfe. And then Manoah knew that it was an angel of the Lord, ²² and sayd vnto hys wyfe: we shal surelye dye, because we haue sene God. ²³ But his wyfe said vnto him: If the Lorde woulde kylle vs, he woulde not haue receyued a burntoffrynge & a meat offryng of our handes, neyther would he haue shewed vs all these thynges, nor would haue tolde vs as he hath of thinges to come.

¹ In the same yeare the kynge Oziah dyed, I sawe the Lorde sytting vpon an high & gloryous seate, and hys trayne fylled the palace. ² From aboue flakred the Seraphins, whereof euery one had sixe wynges. With twayne eche couered his face, with twayne his fete, & with twayne dyd he flye. ³ They cryed also eche one to other on this maner: holy holy holy, is the Lord of hostes. The whole world is ful of his glory. ⁴ Yea the gestes and dorecheckes moued at their crieng, & the house was ful of smoke. ⁵ Then I sayde: O wo is me. For I was astonished: that I (which am a man of vncleane lippes and dwell amonge people that hath vncleane lyppes also) shulde se the kynge and the Lorde of hostes wyth myne eyes.

⁴³ He sayed vnto them: how then doeth Dauid in sprite, call him Lorde, sayenge: ⁴⁴ The Lorde sayed to my Lord sit on my righthande: tyl I make thyne enemyes thy fotestole.

³⁶ for Dauid him self inspired with the holy ghost, sayde: The Lorde sayde to my Lorde, sit on my righthand til I make thyne enemyes thy foote stole.

¹⁸ No man hath sene God at anye tyme. The onlye begotten sonne which is in the bosome of the father, he hath declared hym.

¹⁵ And Dauid sawe that Saul was come out, to seke hys lyfe, while Dauid was in the wildernesse of Ziph in a thycket.

⁵ I shoulde comforte you wyth my mouth, and release youre payne wyth the talkyng of my lyppes.

⁶ Wyl he pleate against me with his greate power & strength, or will he leane him selfe vtterly vpon me?

³ And therfore strengthen the weake handes, and comforte the feble knees. ⁴ Saye vnto them that are of a fearfull herte: Be of good there, & feare not. Beholde youre God cometh, to take vengeaunce, and to rewarde, God commeth his owne selfe, & wyll delyuer you.

¹⁰ And beholde, an hande touched me, whyche set me vpon my knees, and vpon the palmes of my handes,

³² but I haue prayed for the, that thy faith fayle not. And when thou arte conuerted, strengthe thy brethren.

⁴³ And ther appered an aungell vnto him from heauen, confortinge him.

²³ and when he had taryed there a while he departed. And went ouer al the countrey of Galacia and Phrigia by order, strenthinge al the disciples.

⁹ And he sayde vnto me: my grace is suffycyent for the. For my strengthe is made perfecte thorowe weakenes. Very gladly therfor wil I reioyce of my weakenes, that the strength of Christe maye dwell in me ¹⁰ Therfore haue I delectacyon in infyrmities, in rebukes, in nede, in persecutions, in anguyshe, for Christes sake. For when I am weake, then am I stronge.

¹⁶ that he woulde graunt you accordinge to the ryches of his glorie, that ye maye be strengthed wyth mighte by his spirite in the inner man,

¹³ I can do al thinges thorowe the helpe of Christe whiche strengtheth me.

¹¹ strengthed wyth all myghte thorowe his glorious power, vnto al pacience & longe suffering with ioyfulnes,

⁶ Be strong and bolde: for vnto thys people shalt thou deuyde the land which I sware vnto theyr fathers to geue them. ⁷ Aboue all thynge be strong and harden thy selfe, to obserue & to do, accordynge to all the lawes which Moses my seruaunt commaunded the. Tourne there from nether to the ryght hand nor to the lefte: that thou mayest haue vnderstandynge in all thou takest in hande

⁹ Beholde, I haue sayde vnto the, be strong and bolde: neyther feare, nor dreade. For the Lorde thy God is with the whether soeuer thou goest.

²³ And the Lorde sayde vnto him: peace be with the & feare not, for thou shalte not dye.

⁹ And said vnto him: go & lye doune: & yf he call the agayne, then say: speake on Lord, for thy seruaunt heareth. And Samuel went & layed him doune in hys place. ¹⁰ And the Lord came & stode & called as before, Samuel, Samuel. And Samuel said speake on, for thy seruaunt heareth the.

³ When I call vpon the, thou hearest me, & endewest my soule wyth muche strength.

¹ But now, the Lorde that made the O Iacob, & he that fashyoned the O Israel, sayeth thus: Feare not, for I wyll defende the. I haue called the by name thou art myne owne. ² When thou wentest in the water, I was by the, that the stronge floudes shuld not pluck the awaye. When thou walkest in the fyre, it shall not burne the, and the flame shall not kindle vpon the.

²³ For as sone as thou begannest to make thy prayer, it was so diuised, and therfore am I come to shewe the. And why? For thou arte a man greatly beloued. Wherfore, pondre the matter well, that thou mayest learne, to vnderstande the vision.

¹¹ sayinge vnto me: O Daniel, thou well beloued man: take good hede of the wordes, that I shal say vnto the, and stande ryght, for vnto the am I now sent. And when he had sayde these wordes, I stode vp tremblinge. ¹² Then he sayd vnto me: feare not Daniel: for why sence the fyrst day that thou set thyne herte to vnderstande, and diddest chasten thy selfe before thy God: thy wordes haue bene hearde. And I had come vnto the, when thou begannest to speake

⁴ Neuerthelesse be of good chere O Zarobabel (sayeth the Lorde) be of good comforte, O Iesua thou sonne of Iosedech hye pryest: take good hertes vnto you also, all ye people of the lande, sayeth the Lorde of hostes

⁹ Thus sayeth the lord of hostes: let your handes be stronge, yea that nowe heare these wordes by the mouth of the prophetes which be in the dayes, that the foundacion is layed vpon the Lorde of hostes house, that the temple may be buylded.

¹³ And it shall come to passe, that like as ye were a curse amonge the Heathen (O ye house of Iuda & ye house of Israel) Euen so wil I deliuer you, that ye shalbe a blessing: feare not, but let your handes be stronge.

³⁶ As they thus spake. Iesus him selfe stode in the middes of them, and saide: Peace be with you. ³⁷ And thei were abashed and afraied, supposynge that they had sene a spirite. ³⁸ And he sayde vnto them: Why are ye troubled, and why do thoughtes aryse in your hertes?

³ and hys systers sente vnto hym, saiynge: Lorde, beholde, he whome thou louest, is sicke.

⁵ Iesus loued Martha and her sister and Lazarus.

³⁶ Then sayde the Iewes: Beholde, howe he loued him.

²⁷ Peace I leaue with you, my peace I geue vnto you. Not as the worlde geueth, geue I vnto you. Let not your hertes be greued, neyther feare ye.

⁹ As the father hath loued me, euen so haue I loued you. Continue in my loue. ¹⁰ Yf ye shal kepe my commaundementes, ye shall byde in my loue, euen as I haue kepte my fathers commaundementes, and abyde in hys loue. ¹¹ These thynges haue I spoken vnto you, that my ioye myght remayne in you, and that youre ioye myght be full. ¹² This is my commaundement, that ye loue together as I haue loued you. ¹³ Greater loue then thys hath no man, then that a man bestowe hys lyfe for hys frendes. ¹⁴ Ye are my frendes, yf ye do whatsoeuer I commaunde you.

³³ These wordes haue I spoken vnto you, that in me you myght haue peace. For in the worlde shall you haue tribulacyon: but be of good cheare. I haue ouercome the worlde.

²⁶ When Iesus sawe his mother, and the discyple standyng whome he loued, he sayed vnto his mother: woman beholde thy sonne.

¹³ Watche ye, stande faste in the fayth, quyte you lyke men and be stronge,

⁹ And he sayde vnto me: my grace is suffycyent for the. For my strengthe is made perfecte thorowe weakenes. Very gladly therfor wil I reioyce of my weakenes, that the strength of Christe maye dwell in me

¹⁰ Finally my brethren, be stronge in the Lord and in the power of his myghte.

¹ Thou therfor my sonne, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Iesus.

³⁶ Thus the angel went forth, and slewe of the Assyrians hoste, an .clxxxv. thousande. And when men arose, vp earlye (at Ierusalem:) Beholde, all laye full of deed bodyes.

⁶ Then I loked, and beholde, there was another lyke vnto a leoparde: thys had wynges as a foule, euen four vpon the backe. This beaste had foure heades, and there was power geuen him.

⁵ I toke hede vnto this, & then came there an hegoate from the west ouer the whole earthe, and touched not the grounde. This goate had a maruelous goodly horne betwixte his eyes, ⁶ and came vnto the ramme that had the two hornes (whome I had sene afore by the ryuer syde) and ranne fearcelye vpon him with his might. ⁷ I sawe him drawe nye vnto the ramme, beynge very fearce vpon him, yea he gaue him suche a stroke, that he brake his two hornes: Neyther had the ramme so much strength as to stande before him: but he cast him doune, trodde him vnder his fete: and no man was able to delyuer the ramme out of his power. ⁸ The goate waxed exceadinge greate, & when he was at the strongest, his great horne was broken also. Then grewe there other foure suche lyke in the steade, toward the .iiij. windes of the heauen.

²¹ but the goate is the king of the Greke lande: the greate horne that stode betwyxte his eyes, that is the pryncypall kynge.

¹³ bad nor the prynce ouer the kingedom of the Perses withstand me .xxi. dayes. But lo, Michael one of the chefe Princes, came to helpe me, hym haue I left by the kyng of Persia,

² and nowe wil I shew the the trueth. Beholde, there shall stande vp yet thre kynges in Persia, but the fourth shal be farre rycher then they all. And when he is in the chefest power of his ryches, he shall prouoke euery man against the realme of Grekelande. ³ Then shall there aryse yet a myghty kinge, that shall rule with greate dominion, and do what him lyst. ⁴ And as sone as his kingedome cometh vp, it shalbe destroyed, and deuyded toward the foure windes of the heauen. They that come after hym, shall not haue suche power and domynyon as he: but hys kyngedome shalbe scatred, yea euen amonge other then those.

²³ And immediatly the aungell of the Lorde smote hym, because he gaue not God the glorye, and he was eaten of wormes, and gaue vp the ghost.

²² Let the goddes come forth them selues, & shewe vs the thynges that are past, what they be: let them declare them vnto vs, that we maye take them to herte, and knowe them herafter. ²³ Ether, let them shewe vs thynges for to come, and tell vs what shalbe done her after: so shal we knowe, that they be goddes. Shewe somthing, ether good or bad: so wyll we both knowledge the same, and tell it out.

⁸ Brynge forth that people, whether they haue eyes or be blynde, deafe or haue eares. ⁹ All nacyons shall come in one, and be gathered in one people. But whiche amonge yonder goddes shall declare suche thynges, & tell vs what is to come? Let them bringe theyr wytnesses, so shall they be fre: for then men shall heare it, & saye, it is trueth.

²⁵ Vnderstande this then, and marcke it well, that from the tyme it shalbe concluded, to go and repayre Ierusalem againe, vnto Christ (or the annointed) prince: there shalbe seuen weakes. Then shal the stretes and walles be buylded again .lxij. weakes, but wyth harde troublous time.

Agaynste him there shall one make hymselfe stronge, and shal rule his dominyon wt greate power. ⁶ But after certayne yeares they shalbe ioyned together, and the kinges doughter of the south shall come to the kynge of the Northe, for to make frendshyp, but she shall not obtayne the power of that arme, neyther shall she be able to endure thorow his myght: but she, and such as brought her (yea and he that begat her, & comforted her for hys tyme) shalbe delyuered vp. ⁷ Oute of the braunches of her rote, there shall one stande vp in his steade: whiche with power of armes shal go thorow the kinges lande of the North, & handle hym according to his strength. As for their Idols & princes, with their costly Iewels of goulde & syluer, ⁸ he shal carye them awaye captiues into Egipte, & he shall preuayle agaynste the kyng of the north certayne yeares. ⁹ And when he is come into the kinges realm of the south he shalbe fayne to turne agayne into hys owne lande. ¹⁰ Wherfore hys sonnes shalbe displeased, and shall gather together a myghtye greate hoste of people: and one of them shall come, and go thorowe lyke a waterflowed: then shall he returne, and go forth with defyinge and boastinge vnto his owne lande. ¹¹ Then the kynge of the south shalbe angry and shall come forthe to fyght agaynste the kinge of the north: yea he shal brynge a great multitude of people together, & a great heape shalbe geuen into hys hande: ¹² these shall he cary awaye with greate pryde, for so muche as he hath cast doune so many thousandes, neuertheles he shall not preuayle.

⁷ Nowe doth the Lorde God no maner of thynge, but he telleth hys secrete before vnto hys seruauntes the Prophetes.

¹⁵ And to this agreeth the wordes of the Prophetes, as it is wryten.

¹⁸ knowen vnto God are all hys workes from the beginning of the worlde.
