² And he sayde: Amos, what seist thou? I answered: a maunde wyth sommer fruyte. Then sayde the Lorde vnto me: the ende commeth vpon my people of Israell, I wyll no more ouerse them.

¹ When thou art come into the land whyche the Lord thy God geueth the to enheret and hast enioyed it and dwellest therin: ² take of the first of al the frute of the erthe, whych thou hast brought in out of the lande that the Lorde thy GOD geueth the and put it in a maunde and go vnto the place which the Lorde thy GOD shall chose to make hys name dwell there. ³ And thou shalt come vnto the preast that shalbe in those dayes and saye vnto hym, I knowledge this daie vnto the Lord thy God, that I am come vnto the countre which the Lord sware vnto oure fathers for to geue vs. ⁴ And the preast shall take the maunde out of thyne hande, and sett it doune before the aulter of the Lord thy God.

¹ And when Dauid was a lytle past the toppe of the hyll: behold Ziba the seruaunt of Miphiboseth came agaynste hym with a couple of Asses sadelled, & vpon them two hundred loues and one hundred bonches of Resynges, and an hundred frayles of dryed fygges, & a bottell of wyne. ² Then sayde the kynge to Ziba: what hast thou there? And Ziba sayde: Asses for the Kynges houshold to ryde on, and bread & frute for the young men to eate, and wyne to drincke, yf any man fainte in the wyldernesse.

⁴ And as for the faydynge floure, the glory of hys pompe, whiche is vpon the toppe of the plenteous valleye: it shall happen vnto hym, as to an vntymelye frute before the harueste come. Which as soone as it is sene, is by and by deuoured, or euer it come well in a mans hande.

¹¹ After thys, the Lorde spake vnto me sayinge: Ieremy, what seyst thou? And I sayde: I se a wakinge roade. ¹² Then sayde the Lord: thou hast sene ryght, for I will watch diligentlye vpon my worde, to perfourme it. ¹³ It happened afterwarde, that the Lorde spake to me againe, and sayde: What seyst thou? And I sayd: I do se a seethinge pot, lokinge from oute of the North hytherward. ¹⁴ Then saide the Lorde vnto me: Oute of the Northe shall come a plage vpon all the dwellers of the lande.

³¹ The Prophetes teache falsely, and the priestes folowe them, and my people hath pleasure therein. What wyll come thereof at the laste.

¹ The Lorde shewed me a vysion: Beholde, there stode two maundes of fygges before the temple of the Lord, after that Nabuchodonosor kynge of Babylon had led awaye captyue Iechoniah the sonne of Iehoakim kynge of Iuda, the mightie men also of Iuda, with the worckmaysters, and connynge men of Ierusalem, vnto Babylon. ² In the one maunde were verye good fyges, euen lyke as those that be fyrst rype. In the other maunde were verye naughtye fyges, which might not be eaten, they were so euell. ³ Then sayde the Lorde vnto me, what seyste thou Ieremy? I sayde: fyges, wherof some be verye good, and some so euell, that no man maye eate them.

¹⁰ Beholde, I dwell at Mazphah to be an officer in the Caldees behalfe, & to satisfye such as come to vs. Therfore gather you wine, corne and oyle, & kepe them in youre ware houses, & dwell in youre cities that ye haue in kepynge.

¹⁸ Zade. They laye so sharpe waite for vs, that we can not go safe vpon the streates: for our ende is come, oure dayes are fulfylled, oure ende is here.

⁷ But the house of Israel wyll not folowe the, for they wyll not folowe me: yee all the house of Israell haue styf foreheades and harde hertes.

¹⁰ He sayde moreouer vnto me: thou sonne of man, take dylygent hede wyth thyne eares, to the wordes that I speake vnto the, fasten them in thyne herte:

² The I call, O thou sonne of man. Thus sayeth the Lorde God vnto the lande of Israell: The ende commeth, yee verely the ende commeth vpon all the foure corners of the earth. ³ But now shall the ende come vpon the: for I wyll sende my wrath vpon the, and wyll punishe the accordynge to thy wayes, and rewarde the after all thy abhominacyons.

⁶ the ende is here. The ende (I saye) that wayteth for the, is come all readye,

⁶ And he sayd further more vnto me: Thou sonne of man, seist thou what these do? Seyst thou the great abhomynacyons that the house of Israel commytte in this place? which oughte not to be done in my sanctuarye? But turne the aboute, and thou shalte se yet greater abhomynacyons.

¹² Then sayde he vnto me: Thou sonne of man, haste thou sene what the Senatoures of the house of Israel do secretly euerye one in hys chambre: For they saye: Tush, the Lorde seyth vs not, the Lord regardeth not the worlde.

¹⁷ And he sayde vnto me: hast thou sene this, thou sonne of man? Thyncketh the house of Israel, that it is but a tryflle, to do these abhomynacyons here? Shulde they fyll the lande full of wyckednesse, & vndertake to prouoke me vnto anger? Yea and purposelye to caste vp their noses vpon me:

²³ Tell them therfore: thus sayth the Lorde God: I wil make that by worde to ceasse, so that it shal no more be commonlye vsed in Israel. But saye this vnto them: The dayes are at hande, that euery thinge whiche hath bene prophecyed, shalbe fulfylled.

⁸ Therfore thus sayeth the Lorde God: beholde, I wyll brynge a swearde vpon the, & rote oute of the bothe man and beaste.

⁸ And the Lorde sayd vnto me: Amos, what seyst thou? I aunswered: a masons trowel. Then sayde the Lorde: Beholde, I wyl laye the trowel among my people of Israel, and wyll no more ouerse them:

¹ Wo is me: I am become as one, that goeth a gleanynge in the haruest. There are no mo grapes to eate, yet wolde I fayne (with all my herte) haue of the best fruyte.

¹⁸ Then lyfte I vp myne eyes, and sawe, and beholde, foure hornes. ¹⁹ And I sayde vnto the angel, that talketh with me: what be these? he aunswered me: These are the hornes, whiche haue scatred Iuda, Israel and Ierusalem abroade. ²⁰ And the Lorde shewed me .iiij. carpenters. ²¹ Then sayde I: what wyll these do? He aunswered, and said: Those are the hornes, which haue so strowed Iuda abroade, that no man durste lyft vp his head: But these are come to fraye them away and to caste oute the hornes of the Gentyles, whiche lyfte vp theyr horne ouer the lande of Iuda, to scatre it abroade.

² And he sayd vnto me: what seyst thou? I answered: I se a flyinge boke of .xx. cubytes longe, and ten cubytes broade.

⁵ Then the aungell that talked wyth me, wente forth, & sayde vnto me: lyfte vp thyne eyes, & se, what this is that goeth forth. ⁶ And I sayde: what is it? He answered: this is a measure goinge oute. He sayde moreouer: Euen thus ate they (that dwel vpon the whole earth) to loke vpon.
