¹⁸ And Gad came the same daye to Dauid, and sayde vnto him: go vp and reare an aultare vnto the Lorde in the thressinge floure of Areunah the Iebusite.

¹¹ And when Dauid was vp in a mornynge the worde of the Lorde came vnto the prophete Gad Dauids sear sayinge:

¹⁸ And the Aungell commaunded Gad to saye to Dauid, that Dauid should go & rere vp an aulter vnto the Lorde, in the thressyng floure of Ornan the Iebusite. ¹⁹ And Dauid went at the saying of Gad whyche spake in the name of the Lorde. ²⁰ And Ornan turned aboute and saw the Aungel, & hys foure sonnes with him & hyd them selues: for Ornan was thressynge whete. ²¹ And Dauid came to Ornan. And when Ornan loked and sawe Dauid, he went oute of the thressyng floure, & bowed himselfe to Dauid with his face to the grounde. ²² And Dauid sayde to Ornan: geue me the place of the thressyng flour, that I maye build an aulter therin vnto the Lorde. Let me haue it for as muche money as it is worthe, that the plage may cease from the people. ²³ And Ornan sayde to Dauid, take it to the, and let my lord kynge do that semeth good in his eyes. Se, I geue the oxen for a burntsacryfice, & the thressynge sleades for wood, & wheate for meateofferynge. I geue it all. ²⁴ But kyng Dauid said to Ornan: not so, but I wil bye it for as much moneye as it is worthe. I wyll not take that, whiche is thine, for the Lord, and offer burntofferynges wythoute coste. ²⁵ And so Dauid gaue to Ornan for the place sycles of goulde .vi. hundred by wayght. ²⁶ And Dauid buylt there an aulter vnto the Lorde & offered burntofferinges & peaceofferinges, & called vnto the Lorde & he hearde him from heauen in fyre vpon the aulter of burntofferyng. ²⁷ And the Lorde commaunded the aungel to put vp his swerde agayne into the shethe of it. ²⁸ At that tyme when Dauid sawe, that the Lorde had hearde him in the thressyng floure of Ornan the Iebusite, he vsed to offer there. ²⁹ For the tabernacle of the Lorde, which Moses made in the wyldernesse, & the aulter of burntofferynge were at the ceason in the hyll at Gabaon. ³⁰ And Dauid coulde not go before it to seke God, because he was afrayde of the swerde of the Aungel of the Lorde.
