¹⁵ And they refused his ordinaunce & his appoyntemente that he had made wyth theyr fathers, and the wytnesse which he had witnessed to them, and folowed vanitie and became vayne, lyke to the hethen that were rounde aboute them, of whiche the Lorde had charged them, that they shuld not do lyke them.

⁶ And Moyses toke halfe of the bloude & put it in basens, and the other halfe he sprenkled on the aulter. ⁷ And he toke the boke of the appoyntment & red it in the audience of the people. And thei sayd. All that the Lord hath sayd, we wil do and heare. ⁸ And Moyses toke the bloude and sprynkeld it on the people and sayd: beholde, this is the bloude of the appointment which the Lorde hath made with you vpon al these woordes.

¹⁷ But se that ye kepe the commaundementes of the Lorde your God hys wytnesses and ordinaunces whyche he hath commaunded the, ¹⁸ & se thou do that which is ryght and good in the syght of the Lorde: that thou maiste prospere & that thou maiste go and conquere that good lande which the Lorde sware vnto thy fathers,

³⁰ Beware that thou be not taken in a snare after them, after that they be destroyed before the, & that thou aske not after theyr Gods sayinge: how dyd these nations serue theyr Goddes. that I maye do so lykewyse: ³¹ Naye, thou shalt not do so vnto the Lorde thy God: for all abhominacions whyche the Lorde hated dyd they vnto theyr Goddes. For they burnt both their sonnes and their daughters with fire vnto their Goddes.

¹⁰ Ye stand here this day euery one of you before the Lord your God, both the heades of your trybes your elders, youre officers & all the men of Israel: ¹¹ youre chyldren, your wiues and the straungers that are in thyne host, from the hewer of thy wood vnto the drawer of thy water: ¹² that thou shuldest come vnder the appoyntment of the Lorde thy God, & vnder his oth which the Lord the God maketh with the this day. ¹³ For to make the a people vnto him selfe, & that he maye be vnto the a God, as he hath sayde vnto the & he hath sworne vnto thy fathers Abraham, Isaac and Iacob. ¹⁴ Also I make not this bonde and this othe with you onlye: ¹⁵ but both with him that standeth here with vs this daye before the Lorde oure god, and also with him that is not here with vs this daye.

²⁵ And men shal saye: because they lefte the testament of the Lorde God of their fathers which he made with them, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt. ²⁶ And they went & serued straunge goddes & worshipped them: goddes which they knew not and which had geuen them nought.

²¹ They haue angred me wt that which is no God, & prouoked me wyth theyr vanities. And I agayne wyll anger them wyth them whiche are no people, and wyl prouoke them wyth a folysh nation.

³¹ For oure rocke is not as theyr rocke, no thoughe oure enemies be iudge.

²¹ Nether turne ye after vayne thynges which cannot delyuer you, for they are but vanities.

¹³ for all the synnes of Baasa and synnes of Elah his sonne, wherwyth they sinned & made Israell synne, to angre the Lorde of Israel with their vanities.

⁸ And they walked in the ordinaunce of the hethen which the Lorde caste oute before the children of Israel, and in the thynges which the kynges of Israell had made.

¹¹ And there they sacrifyced in the hylaulters, as dyd the hethen which the Lorde caried awaye at theyr commynge, & wrought weked dedes, to angre the Lord wyth al. ¹² And they serued Idoles, wherof the Lord had said to them: ye shall not do so.

² And he dyd wickedlye in the syght of the Lord, lyke vnto the abhominacions of the heathen, whiche the Lorde caste out before the chyldren of Israell.

⁹ But Manasseh made Iuda and the enhabiters of Ierusalem to erre and to do worse then the heathen whiche the Lorde destroyed before the chyldren of Israel.

¹⁵ And the Lord God of theyr fathers sent to them by his messengers, sendynge them be tymes: for he had compassyon on hys people & on his dwellynge place. ¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God & despised theyr wordes & mysse vsed his prophetes, vntyll the wrath of the Lord so arose agaynst hys people that it was past remeadie.

²⁶ Neuerthelesse they were disobedient, & rebelled against the, and caste thy lawe behynde their backes, and slewe thy Prophetes (which exhorted them so earnestlye, that they shulde conuerte vnto the) and dyd greate blasphemyes.

²⁹ and testyfyest vnto them, that they should turne agayne vnto thy lawe. Notwythstandyng they were proude, and herkened not vnto thy commaundementes, but synned in thy lawes (whiche a man shuld do, & lyue in them) & turned the shoulder awaye & were styfnecked, and wolde not heare. ³⁰ And manye yeares dyddest thou forbeare them, & testifyedst vnto them thorowe thy spryte, euen by the offyce of thy Prophetes, and yet wold they not heare Therfore gauest thou them into the hande of the nacyons in the landes.

⁸ They that made them, are lyke vnto them and so are all suche as put theyr truste in them.

⁵ Thus sayeth the Lorde vnto you. What vnfaythfulnesse founde youre fathers in me, that they wente so farre awaye from me, fallinge to lightnesse, and beynge so vaine?

⁹ therfore shall the wyse be confounded, they shalbe afrayed and taken: for lo, they haue caste oute the worde of the Lorde: what wysdom can then be among them?

⁸ They are all together vnlearned and vnwyse. All theyr conninge is but vanyte:

¹⁵ The vayne craftesmen with theyr worckes, that they in theyr vanite haue made, shall peryshe one with another in the tyme of vysitacyon.

³² not after the couenaunte that I made wyth theyr fathers, when I toke them by the hande, and led them oute of the lande of Egypte: whiche couenaunte they brake, wherfore I punyshed them sore, sayeth the Lorde:

⁴ How be it, I sent vnto them my seruauntes al the prophetes: I rose vp earlye, I sent vnto them, and gaue them warninge: O do no such abhominable thinges, & thinges that I hate.

²³ Dyd not al this happen vnto you, because ye made suche sacryfyce, and sinned agaynste the Lorde? Ye haue not folowed his voyce, to walcke in his lawe, in hys ordynaunces and statutes. Yea, this is the cause, that all mysfortune happened vnto you, as it is come to passe this daye.

⁸ And he sayd vnto them: drawe out now, & beare vnto the gouerner of the feaste. And they beare it.

²¹ in as muche as when they knewe God, they glorifyed him not as God, neither were thankful, but waxed full of vanities in theyr Imaginations, and their folishe hertes were blinded. ²² When they counted them selues wyse, they became foles, ²³ and tourned the glorye of the immortall God, vnto the the similitude of the Image of mortall man, and of byrdes, and foure foted beastes, and of serpentes.

⁴ To speake of meate dedicate vnto Idols, we are sure that there is none Idol in the world and that there is none other God but one.
