⁶ Therfore let vs not slepe as do other: but let vs watche & be sober.

¹⁵ Slouthfulnes bringeth slepe, & an ydel soule shall suffer hunger.

¹⁰ For hys watch men are al blind, they haue altogether no vnderstandyng, they are al domme dogges, not beyng able to barcke, they are slepery: slogish are they, & lye snortynge:

⁶ So the master of the shyppe came to hym and sayde vnto hym: why slomberest thou? Vp, call vpon thy God: yf God (happely) wil thyncke vpon vs, that we peryshe not.

²⁵ But whyle men slept there came hys foo and sowed tares amonge the wheate, and went hys waye.

⁴² Wake therfor, because ye knowe not what houre your maister wyl come.

⁵ Whyle the brydegrome taried, al slombred and slepte.

¹³ watche therfore: for ye knowe neither the daye nor yet the houre when the sonne of man shall come.

³⁸ Then said Iesus vnto them: my soule is heauy euen to the death. Tary ye here & watche with me.

⁴⁰ And he came vnto the discyples, and founde them a slepe, & sayd to Peter: what, could ye not watche with me one houre: ⁴¹ watche and praye, that ye fall not into temptacion. The spirite is ready, & the fleshe is weake.

³⁴ As a man whiche is gone into a straunge countreye, and hath left hys house, and geuen authorite to his seruauntes, and euerye man hys worke, and commaunded the porter to watche. ³⁵ Watche therfore, for ye knowe not when the mayster of the house wyll come: whether at euen, or at mydnyght: whether at the cocke crowynge or in the dawnynge,

³⁷ And that I saye vnto you: I saye vnto all men, watche.

³⁷ And he came, and founde them slepynge, and sayd to Peter: Symon slepest thou? Couldest not thou watche wt me one houre? ³⁸ watche ye, and praye leaste ye enter into temptacyon, the spirite is ready, and the fleshe is weake.

³⁷ Happye are those seruauntes, whom the Lorde when he commeth, shall fynde wakynge: Verely I saye vnto you, he wyll girde hym selfe aboute, and make them sytte doune to meate, & walke by, & mynyster vnto them.

³⁹ Thys vnderstande, that yf the good man of the house knewe what houre that these would come, he woulde surely watche, and not suffer hys house to be broken vp.

³⁶ Watche therfore contynuallye and praye, that ye may obtayne grace to flye all this that shal come, and that ye may stande before the sonne of man.

⁴⁶ and sayde vnto them: Why slepe ye? Ryse and praye, leste ye fall into temptacion.

³¹ Therfore awake & remember, that by the space of .iij. yeares I ceased not to warne euerye one of you both night and daye with teares.

¹¹ Thys also we knowe, I meane the season, howe that it is tyme, that we should now awake oute of slepe. For nowe is oure saluacyon nearer, then when we beleued. ¹² The night is passed, and the day is come ny. Let vs therfore caste awaye the dedes of darcknes, & let vs put on the Armoure of lyghte. ¹³ Let vs walke honestlye as it were in the daye lyght: not in eatynge and drynkynge: neyther in chamburynge and wantonnes, neyther in stryfe & enuiynge: ¹⁴ but put ye on the Lorde Iesus Christ. And make not prouysyon for the fleshe, to fulfyll the lustes of it.

³⁴ Awake truelye out of slepe and synne not. For some haue not the knowledge of God. I speake this vnto you: rebuke.

¹³ Watche ye, stande faste in the fayth, quyte you lyke men and be stronge,

¹⁴ Wherfore he sayth: awake thou that slepest, and stand vp from death, and Christ shall geue the lyght.

¹⁸ And praye all wayes wyth all maner prayer and supplicacion: and that in the spirite, and watch therunto with all instaunce and supplication for all sainctes,

⁵ Lette your softnes be knowen to all men. The Lorde is euen at hande.

² Contynue in prayer & watch in the same wyth thankes geuynge,

⁸ But let vs whiche are of the daye, be sober, armed wyth the breste plate of fayth and loue, and wyth hope of saluacyon as an helmet.

⁹ Lykewyse also the women that they araye them selues in comlye apparell wyth shamefastnes and discrete behauyoure not wyth broyded heare other golde, or pearles, or costlye araye:

¹⁵ Notwythstandyng thorow bearyng of chyldren they shalbe saued, so they continue in faythe, loue & holynes with discrecion.

² Yea and a bishop muste be fautlesse the husband of one wyfe, sober discrete, hone style apparelled, harberous, apt to teache,

¹¹ Euen so muste theyr wyues be honeste, not euyll speakers, but sober and faythfull in all thynges.

⁵ But watche thou in all thynges, and suffre aduersitye and do the work of an Euangelist, fulfyll thyne offyce vnto the vtmost.

⁶ Young men lykewyse exhort that they be sobre mynded.

¹² & teacheth vs that we shoulde denye vngodlynes & worldly lustes, and that we shoulde lyue sobre mynded ryghtuouslye and Godly in this present worlde,

¹³ Wherfore gyrde vp the loynes of youre myndes, be sober, and trust perfectelye on the grace that is broughte vnto you, by the declarynge of Iesus Christe,

⁷ The ende of al thinges is at hande. Be ye therfore discrete and sober, that ye maye be apt to prayers.

⁸ Be sober and watch, for your aduersary the deuyll as a roringe Lyon walketh aboute, sekinge whom he may deuour,

² Be awake & strengthe the thinges whiche remayne, that are ready to dye. For I haue not founde thy workes perfecte before God.

¹⁵ Beholde I come as a thefe. Happye is he that watcheth & kepeth his garmentes, least he be founde naked, and men se hys filthynes.
