⁹ whom resist stedfast in the fayth remembring, that ye do but fulfill the same affliccions, which are appointed to youre brethren that are in the worlde.

³ And the deuyll sayde vnto him: If thou be the sonne of God, commaunde this stone that it be bread. ⁴ And Iesus aunswered hym saiynge: It is written, man shall not lyue by bread onlye, but of euerye worde of God. ⁵ And the deuyl toke him vp into an hye mountayne, and shewed him all the kyngdomes of the worlde euen in the twincklinge of an eye. ⁶ And the deuyl sayde vnto hym: al this power wyll I geue the euerye whit and the glorye of them for that is delyuered to me & to whomsoeuer I wyl, I geue it: ⁷ If thou therfore wilt worship me, they shalbe al thine. ⁸ Iesus aunswered him and sayde. Hence from me Sathan. For it is written: Thou shall honoure the Lord thy God and him onlye serue. ⁹ And he caryed hym to Ierusalem, and set him on a pynacle of the tempel, and sayde vnto him. If thou be the sonne of God caste thy selfe doune from hence: ¹⁰ For it is wrytten. He shall geue his aungels charge ouer the to kepe the ¹¹ and wyth their handes they shal sley the vp that thou dashe not thy fote agaynst a stone. ¹² Iesus aunswered and sayde to hym, it is sayde: Thou shalt not tempt the Lorde thy God.

³² but I haue prayed for the, that thy faith fayle not. And when thou arte conuerted, strengthe thy brethren.

³³ These wordes haue I spoken vnto you, that in me you myght haue peace. For in the worlde shall you haue tribulacyon: but be of good cheare. I haue ouercome the worlde.

²² and strengthed the disciples soules exhortynge them to continue in the faith, affyrmyng that we must thorowe muche tribulacion enter into the kingdome of God.

¹³ There hath none other temptacion taken you, but suche as foloweth the nature of man. But God is faythful whiche shall not suffre you to be tempted aboue your strength: but shall in the middest of the temptacion make a waye to escape out.

²⁷ neyther geue place vnto the backebyter.

¹¹ Put on the armoure of God, that ye maye stande stedfaste agaynste the crafty assautes of the deuyll. ¹² For we wrestle not againste fleshe and bloude: but against rule, agaynst power, and againste worldlye rulers of the darckenes of thys worlde, againste spyrytuall wickednes, for heauenly thynges. ¹³ For thys cause take vnto you the armoure of God, that ye maye be able to resiste in the euyl daye, and stande perfect in al thinges.

¹⁶ Aboue all take to you the shelde of fayth, wherwith ye maye quench all the fyrie dartes of the wycked.

⁵ For though I be absent in fleshe: yet am I present with you in the spirite ioyenge and beholdinge the order that ye kepe, and your stedfast faith in Christ.

¹⁵ Which as they kylled the Lorde Iesus and theyr owne prophetes, euen so haue they persecuted vs, and God they please not, and are contrarye to all men, ¹⁶ and forbid vs to preache vnto the Gentyls, that they might be saued to fulfyll theyr synnes alwaye. For the wrathe of God is come on them, euen to the vtmost.

³ that no man should be moued in these afflicons. For ye your selues knowe that we are euen appointed there vnto.

¹² Fyghte the good fyght of fayth. Laye hande on eternall lyfe, wherevnto thou arte called and hast professed a good professyon before manye wytnesses.

¹² Yea and all that wyll lyue Godlye in Christe Iesu, must suffer persecucyons.

⁷ I haue fought a good fyght, and haue fulfylled my course, and haue kepte the fayth.

³³ which thorowe fayth subdued kingdomes wrought ryghtuousnes, obtayned the promyses, stopped the mouthes of Lyons,

⁷ Submytte your selues to God, and resiste the deuyl, and he wyll flye from you.

⁶ in the whiche tyme ye shall reioyce, thoughe nowe for a season (yf nede requyre) ye are in heauynes, thorow manyfolde temptacyon,

²¹ for here vnto verelye were ye called: for Christe also suffered for vs, leauynge vs an ensample that we shoulde folowe his steppes,

¹⁴ Notwithstanding happy are ye, yf ye suffre for ryghtuousnes sake. Yea and feare not though they seme terrible vnto you, neither be troubled,

¹³ but reioice in as much as ye are partakers of Christes passions, that when his glory appereth, ye maye be mery and glad.

⁹ I Iohn your brother and companyon in trybulacyon, and in the kyngdome and pacyence whiche is in Iesu Christe, was in the yle of Pathmos for the worde of God, and for the wytnessynge of Iesu Christ

¹¹ And longe whyte garmentes were geuen vnto euery of them. And it was sayde vnto them that they should reste for a litle season vntyll the number of their felowes and brethren, & of them that should be kylled as they were, were fulfylled.

¹⁴ And I sayd vnto hym: Lorde thou wotest. And he said vnto me: these are they which came out of great tribulacion, and made their garmentes large and made them white, in the bloude of the lambe,
