²² And the Lorde saide: wherwyth? And he saide: I wil go out and be a false spirit in the mouthes of all his Prophetes. And the Lord sayde: thou shalt deceyue hym, and also preuayle, go forth and do euen so.

²³ God sent an hate betwene Abymelech & the cytezens of Sichem. And the cytezens of Sichem rayled vpon Abimelech,

¹⁴ But the spyryte of the Lord departed from Saul, and an euill spyryt sent of the lord vexed hym.

¹⁰ And it happened on the morow, that the euyll spirite sente of God came vpon Saul, so that he prophesyed in the myddes of the house. And Dauid played on the instrumente wyth hys hande as he was daylye wont.

⁹ And the euyll spyryte of the Lorde was vpon Saul as he sat in his house hauing a Iaueling in hys hande, and Dauid played wyth hys hande.

²⁰ And the Lorde sayd: who shal deceiue Ahab that he maye go and be slaine at Ramoth in Galaad, and one sayde on this maner and another on that.

⁸ Then sayde the Lorde vnto Sathan: hast thou not consydered my seruaunt Iob, how that he is an innocent & vertuous man: soch one as feareth God, & extrueth euel, & that there is none lyke hym in the lande? ⁹ Sathan answered, & sayde vnto the Lord: Doeth Iob feare God for nought? ¹⁰ hast thou not preserued him, his house, and all hys substaunce on euery syde? hast thou not blessed the worckes of his handes? Is not his possessyon encreased in the lande? ¹¹ But laye thyne hande vpon him a lytle, touche ones all that he hath, and (I holde) he shall curse the to thy face.

⁴ Sathan answered the Lorde, and sayde: Skynne for skynne? yee a man will geue all that euer he hath, for his lyfe. ⁵ But laye thyne hande vpon him, touche hym ones vpon the bone and fleshe, and (I holde) he shall curse the to thy face. ⁶ Then sayde the Lorde vnto Sathan: lo, there hast thou hym in thy power, but spare his lyfe.

¹⁶ With hym is strength and wysdome: he knoweth bothe the disceyuer & hym that is disceyued.

¹⁷ Hys delyte was in cursynge, and therfore shall it happen vnto hym: he loued not blessynge and that shall be far from hym.

⁹ And yf that Prophete be deceyued, when he telleth hym a worde: then I the Lorde my selfe haue dysceyued that Prophete, & wyl stretche forth myne hande vpon hym, to rote hym out of my people of Israel,

⁴⁴ Ye are of youre father the deuyl, and the lustes of your father ye wyll do. He was a murtherer from the begynnyng, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truthe in hym. When he speaketh a lye, then speaketh he of hys owne. For he is a lyar, and the father therof.

³ Then said Peter. Ananias, how is it, that Sathan hath fylled thyne hert, that thou shouldest lye vnto the holy ghost, and kepe awaye part of the pryce of the lyuelod: ⁴ Pertained it not vnto the onelie, and after it was solde, was not the price in thine owne power? Howe is that, thou hast conceiued this thinge in thyne herte? Thou hast not lied vnto men, but vnto God.

⁹ euen hym whose commynge is by the workynge of Sathan, with all liynge power, signes and wonders: ¹⁰ and in all deceyuablenes of vnryghtuousnes, amonge them that peryshe: because they receyued not the loue of the truethe, that they myght haue bene sayed. ¹¹ And therfore God shall sende them stronge delusyon, that they shoulde beleue lyes: ¹² that all they myghte be damned which beleued not the trueth but had pleasure in vnryghtuousnes.

¹ The spyryte speaketh euydentlye that in the later tymes some shal departe from the fayth, & shall geue heed vnto spyrytes of erroure, and deuelysh doctryne of them

⁶ We are of God. He that knoweth God heareth vs, he that is not of God, heareth vs not. Here by knowe we the spyrite of verity, & the spirite of erroure.

⁹ And the great dragon, that olde serpente called the deuyll and Sathanas was caste out. Whiche deceyueth al the worlde. And he was cast into the earth, and his angelles were cast out also. ¹⁰ And I hearde a loude voyce sayinge: in heauen is nowe made saluacyon, and strength and the kyngdome of our God, and the power of hys Christe. For he is caste doune, whyche accused them before God daye and nyghte.

¹⁴ And deceiued them that dwelt on the earth by the meanes of those sygnes, which he had power to do in the syght of the beaste, saying to them that dwelt on the earth, that they should make an ymage vnto the beaste, whyche had the wounde of a swearde, and dyd lyue.

¹³ And I sawe thre vncleane sprytes, lyke frogges come out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast, & out of the mouth of the false prophete. ¹⁴ For they are the spirites of deuils working miracles to go out vnto the kinges of the earth, & to the whole worlde to gather them to the batayle of the greate daye of God almighty.

¹⁷ For God hath put in their hertes to fulfil his wil, & to do wt one consent, for to geue her kingdom to the beast, vntil the wordes of God be fulfilled.

³ and cast him into the botomles pyt, and he bounde hym, and set a seale on him, that he shuld deceyue the people nomore, tyl the thousand yeares were fulfilled. And after that he must be loused for a lytle season.

⁷ And when the thousand yeres are expired, Sathan shal be loused out of hys pryson,

¹⁰ & the deuyll that deceyued them, was caste into a lake of fyre and brymstone, where the beast and the false Prophet were & shalbe tormented daye and nyghte for euermore.
