³⁰ For this cause manye are weake and sycke amonge you, and manye slepe.

²⁶ & sayde: If ye wyll herken vnto the voyce of the Lord your god, & wyl do that which is ryght in his syght & wyl geue an eare vnto hys commaundementes, and kepe all hys ordynaunces: than wyll I put none of these diseases vpon the whych I brought vpon the Egypcyans, for I am the Lord thy surgione.

¹² And the Lorde spake vnto Moses & Aaron: bicause ye beleued me not to sanctify me in the eyes of the chyldren of Israel, therfore ye shall not brynge thys congregation into the land which I haue geuen them.

²⁴ lett Aaron be putt vnto hys people, for he shall not come into the lande whiche I haue geuen vnto the chyldren of Israel: bicause ye disobeied my mouth at the water of strife.

⁶ Then the Lord sent fiery serpentes amonge the people, which stonge them: so that much people dyed in Israell. ⁷ And the people came to Moses and sayed: we haue sinned, for we haue spoken agayust the Lord and againste the, make intercession to the lorde, that he take away the serpentes from vs. And Moses made intercession for the people. ⁸ And the Lord saide vnto Moses. Make the a serpente, and hang it vp for a sygne, and let as many as are byten loke vpon it, and they shall lyue. ⁹ And Moses made a serpent of brasse & set it vp for a sygne. And when the serpentes had bytten any man, he went and beheld the serpent of brasse, and recouered.

¹⁴ Howe be it because in doynge this deede thou hast geuen the enemyes of the Lorde a cause to rayle, the chyld that is borne the shall dye surelye. ¹⁵ And Nathan departed vnto hys house. And the Lorde stroke the chylde that Vryas wyfe bare Dauid and it sickened. ¹⁶ And Dauid besought god for the boye and fasted and wente & laye all nyght vpon the earthe. ¹⁷ And the elders of hys house arose and wente to him to take hym vp from the earthe. But he wolde not, neyther yet eat meat wyth them. ¹⁸ And it happened the seuenth daye that the chylde dyed. But the seruauntes of Dauid durst not tell hym that the chylde was dead. For they said, se while the child was yet aliue, we spake vnto hym, and he wolde not herken vnto oure voyce. How much more then wil he vexe hym selfe yf we tell hym that the chylde is dead?

²¹ And he cryed vnto the man of God that came from Iuda, saying: thus sayth the Lorde: because thou hast dysobeyed the mouthe of the Lorde, and haste not kepte the commaundement which the Lorde thy God commaunded the, ²² but camest backe agayne & haste eaten breade, and droncke water in the place in whiche he bade that thou shuldeste eat no bread, nor drincke water: therfor thy carkasse shal not come vnto the sepulchre of thy fathers. ²³ And when he had eaten breade & droncke, he sadled an asse for the Prophete whiche he had brought agayne. ²⁴ And as he iorneyed a Lyon met hym by the waye, and slue hym, & his carkasse laye a longe in the waye, & the asse stode therby, & the Lyon stode by the course also.

¹ To the chaunter, to brynge too remembraunce. Pvtte me not too rebuke (Oh Lorde) in thyne anger: Oh chasten me not in thy heuy displeasure. ² For thyne arrowes stycke fast in me, and thy hande presseth me sore. ³ There is no whole parte in my body, because of thy displeasure: there is no reste in my bones, by reason of my synnes. ⁴ For my wyckednesses are gone ouer my head, and are like a sore burthen, to heuy for me to beare. ⁵ My woundes styncke and are corrupte, thorow my folyshnesse. ⁶ I am broughte into so greate trouble and mysery, that I go mournynge all the daye longe. ⁷ For my loynes are cleane dryed vp, and there is no whole parte in my body. ⁸ I am feble & sore smytten, I roare for the very disquietnes of my hert.

³⁰ They were not disapoynted of their lust. But whyle the meate was yet in their mouthes: ³¹ the heuy wrath of God came vpon them, slewe the welthiest of them, & smote doune the chosen men of Israel.

³¹ If they breake myne ordynaunces, & kepe not my commaundementes. ³² I will vyset their offences wyth the rodde, and their synnes wit scourges. ³³ Neuerthelesse, my louinge kyndnesse wil I not vtterly take from hym, nor suffre my trueth to fayle. ³⁴ My couenaunt wyl I not breake, nor disanulle the thynge that is gone out of my lippes.

² you only haue I accepted from all the generacyons of the earthe: therfore wyl I vyset you in all youre wickednesses.

³⁶ Howbeit Dauid after he had in hys tyme fulfylled the wyll of God, he slepte, and was layde with hys fathers, and sawe corrupcyon.

³² But when we are iudged of the Lorde, we are chastened, because we shoulde not be dampued wyth the worlde.

⁵¹ Beholde I shewe you a mysterye. We shal not al slepe: but we shal al be chaunged,

¹⁴ For yf we beleue that Iesus Christe dyed and rose agayne euen so them also, whyche slepe by Iesus, wyl God brynge agayn with hym.

⁵ And ye haue forgotten consolacyon, which speaketh vnto you as vnto chyldren: my sonne despyse not the chastenynge of the Lorde, neyther faynte when thou arte rebuked of hym: ⁶ For whom the Lord loueth, hym he chasteneth: yea, and he scourgeth euerye sonne that he receyueth. ⁷ Yf ye endure chastenynge, God offereth hym selfe vnto you as vnto sonnes. What sonne is that whom the father chasteneth not? ⁸ Yf ye be not vnder correccyon (whereof all are partakers) then are ye bastardes and not sonnes. ⁹ Moreouer seynge we had fathers of oure fleshe whiche corrected vs, and we gaue them reuerence: shoulde we not muche rather be in subieccyon vnto the father of spyrytuall gyftes, that we myght lyue? ¹⁰ And they verely for a few dayes, nurtered vs after their owne pleasure, but he learneth vs vnto that whiche is profytable that we myght receyue of hys holynes. ¹¹ No maner chastisynge for the presente tyme semeth to be ioyeous, but greuous: neuerthelesse afterwarde, it bryngeth the quyet frute of ryghtuousnes vnto them whiche are therein exercysed.

¹⁹ As manye as I loue, I rebuke and chastes. Be feruent therfore and repente.
