¹ Folowe me, as I do Christe. ² I commende you brethren that ye remembre me in al thinges, & kepe the ordinaunces euen as I deliuered them to you. ³ I woulde you knewe that Christ is the heade of euery man. And the man is the womans heade. And God is Christes heade. ⁴ Euery man praiynge or prophesiynge hauing any thinge on his heade, shameth his head. ⁵ Euery woman that prayeth or prophesyeth bare headed, dishonesteth her heade. For it is euen all one, and the very same thinge, euen as though she were shauen. ⁶ If the woman be not couered, let her also be shoren. If it be shame for a woman to be shorne or shauen let her couer her head. ⁷ A man oughte not to couer his heade, for as muche as he is the ymage and glorye of God. The woman is the glorye of the man. ⁸ For the man is not of the woman, but the woman of the man. ⁹ Neither was the man created for the womans sake: but the woman for the mannes sake. ¹⁰ For thys cause ought the woman to haue power on her heade, for the aungels sakes. ¹¹ Neuerthelesse, neyther is the man wythout the woman neyther the woman wythout the man in the Lorde. ¹² For as the woman is of the man, euen so is the man by the woman: but al is of God. ¹³ Iudge in your selfes whether it be comelye, that a woman praye vnto God beare headed. ¹⁴ Or els doeth not nature teache you that it is a shame for a man, ¹⁵ yf he haue longe heyr, & prayse to a woman, yf she haue longe heyre? For her heyre is geuen her to couer her wythall. ¹⁶ If there be anye man amonge you, that lusteth to striue let hym knowe that we haue no suche custome, neither the congregations of God. ¹⁷ This I warne you of, and commende not that ye come together: not after a better maner but after a worsse. ¹⁸ Fyrste of all when ye come together in the congregacion, I heare that there is dyssencyon amonge you, and I partely, beleue it. ¹⁹ For there muste be sectes amonge you, that they whyche are perfecte amonge you, myghte be knowen. ²⁰ When ye come together a man can not eate the Lordes supper. For euery man beginneth afore to eate hys owne supper. ²¹ And one is houngerye, and another is drounken. Haue ye not houses to eate and to drinke in? ²² Or els despise ye the congregacion of God and shame them that haue not? What shall I saye vnto you? shall I prayse you: In thys prayse I you not. ²³ That whiche I delyuered you, I receiued of the Lorde. For the Lorde Iesus the same nyght, in whyche he was betrayed, toke breade, ²⁴ and thanked and brake, and sayde. Take ye, eate ye thys is my bodye whiche is broken for you. Thys do ye in the remembraunce of me. ²⁵ After the same maner he toke the cuppe, when supper was done, saying. Thys cuppe is the newe testamente in my bloude. Thys do as ofte as ye drynke it, in the remembraunce of me. ²⁶ For as often as ye shal eate thys breade, and drincke this cuppe, ye shall shewe the Lordes death tyll he come. ²⁷ Wherfore whosoeuer shall eate of this bread, or drinke of the cuppe vnworthely, shall be gyltie of the bodye and bloude of the Lorde. ²⁸ Let a man therfore examen hym selfe, and so let hym eate of the breade and drynke of the cuppe. ²⁹ For he that eateth or drinketh vnworthelye, eateth and drynketh his owne dampnation, because he maketh no difference of the Lordes bodye. ³⁰ For this cause manye are weake and sycke amonge you, and manye slepe. ³¹ Yf we had truely iudged our selues, we should not haue ben iudged. ³² But when we are iudged of the Lorde, we are chastened, because we shoulde not be dampued wyth the worlde. ³³ Wherfore my brethren, when ye come together to eate, tary one for another. ³⁴ If any man hunger, let hym eate at home, that ye come not together vnto condempnation. Other thynges wil I set in order when I come.

But Hezekiah prayed for them & sayd: the good Lorde ¹⁹ be mercyfull to all that sett theyr hertes to seke the God that is the Lord God of theyr fathers, though they do yt not accordynge to the clennesse of the holy place. ²⁰ And the Lorde heard Hezekiah and healed the people.

¹⁸ kepeth hys soule from destruccyon, and his life from the swearde. ¹⁹ He chasteneth hym wyth sycknesse, and bryngeth hym to hys bedde: he layeth sore punyshment vpon hys bones, ²⁰ so that hys lyfe maye awaye wyth no bread, & hys soule abhorreth to eate anye dayntye meate. ²¹ In so muche that hys body is cleane consumed awaye, and hys bones apeare no more. ²² Hys soule draweth on to destruccyon, & hys lyfe to death. ²³ Nowe yf there be a messenger (one amonge a thousande) sent for to speake vnto man, and to shewe hym the ryght waye: ²⁴ then the Lorde is mercyfull vnto hym, & sayeth: He shalbe delyuered, that he fall not doune to destruccyon, for I am suffycyentlye reconcyled. ²⁵ Then hys fleshe (which hath bene in myserye and trouble) shalbe as it was in hys youth. ²⁶ For yf he submytte hym self vnto God he is gracyous, and sheweth hym his countenaunce ioyfully, and rewardeth man for hys ryghtuousnes. ²⁷ Suche a respecte hath he vnto men. Therfore let a man confesse (and saye) I offended, but he hath chastened and reformed me: I dyd vnryghteouslye, neuerthelesse he hath not recompensed me thereafter. ²⁸ Yea he hath delyuered my soule from destruccyon, and my lyfe, that it seeth the lyght. ²⁹ Lo, thus worcketh God alwaye wyth man, ³⁰ that he kepeth hys soule from peryshynge, and letteth hym enioye the lyghte of the lyuyng.

³ For while I helde my tonge my bones consumed awaye thorowe my daylye complaynynges. ⁴ And because thy hand was so heuy vpon me both daye and nyght, my moysture was lyke the drouth in Sommer. Selah. ⁵ Therfore I confessed my sinne vnto the & hyd not myne vnryghtuousnes. I sayde: I wyll knowledge myne offence and accuse my selfe vnto the Lord, & so thou forgauest me the wickednesse of my synne Selah.

¹ To the chaunter, to brynge too remembraunce. Pvtte me not too rebuke (Oh Lorde) in thyne anger: Oh chasten me not in thy heuy displeasure. ² For thyne arrowes stycke fast in me, and thy hande presseth me sore. ³ There is no whole parte in my body, because of thy displeasure: there is no reste in my bones, by reason of my synnes. ⁴ For my wyckednesses are gone ouer my head, and are like a sore burthen, to heuy for me to beare. ⁵ My woundes styncke and are corrupte, thorow my folyshnesse. ⁶ I am broughte into so greate trouble and mysery, that I go mournynge all the daye longe. ⁷ For my loynes are cleane dryed vp, and there is no whole parte in my body. ⁸ I am feble & sore smytten, I roare for the very disquietnes of my hert.

³⁰ They were not disapoynted of their lust. But whyle the meate was yet in their mouthes: ³¹ the heuy wrath of God came vpon them, slewe the welthiest of them, & smote doune the chosen men of Israel.

³¹ If they breake myne ordynaunces, & kepe not my commaundementes. ³² I will vyset their offences wyth the rodde, and their synnes wit scourges. ³³ Neuerthelesse, my louinge kyndnesse wil I not vtterly take from hym, nor suffre my trueth to fayle. ³⁴ My couenaunt wyl I not breake, nor disanulle the thynge that is gone out of my lippes.

⁴ The mercyfull and gracyous Lord hath so done his maruelous workes, that they ought to be had in remembraunce.

¹⁸ The Lorde hath chastened and correcte me, but he hath not geuen me ouer vnto deathe.

¹¹ My sonne, despise not the chastening of the Lorde, neyther faynte when thou arte rebuked of hym. ¹² For whome the Lord loueth hym he chasteneth: & yet deliteth in him euen as a father in his owne sonne.

⁵ O come on your way, eat my bred, & drinke my wyne, which I haue poured out for you.

⁵ Who so laugheth the pore to scorne blasphemeth hys maker: & he that is glad of another mans hurt, shall not be vnpunished.

⁵ An open rebuke is beter then a secrete loue.

As for fauour, it is disceatfull, & beuty is a vayne thing: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she is worthy to be praysed. ³¹ Thau. Geue her of the frute of her handes, & let her owne workes prayse her in the gates.

⁶ Vse not thy mouth to cause thy flesh for to synne, that thou say not before the aungell: my foolishnesse is in the faute. For then God will be angry at thy voyce, & destroye all the workes of thyne handes.

⁵ Who so kepeth the commaundement, shal fele no harme: but a wise mans herte discerneth tyme and maner:

⁴ yea, that same moueth me also to runne after the. The King hath brought me into his preuy chambre. We wil be glad and reioyce in the, we thynke more of thy brestes then of wyne: well is them that loue the.

¹ Come into my garden O my sister, my spouse: I haue gathered my Myrre with my spyce. I wil eate my hony and my hony combe, I will drinke my wyne and my mylke. Eate, O ye frendes, drynke & be mery, O ye beloued.

⁵ Wherfore shulde ye be plaged any more? For ye are euer fallyng away. The whole head is sick, & the herte is very heauy.

¹³ Offre me no mo oblacions, for it is but loste laboure. I abhorre youre incense. I maye not awaye with youre new moones, youre Sabbathes and solempne dayes. Youre fastinges are also in vayne. ¹⁴ I hate youre newe holye dayes and fastynges, euen from my very hert. They make me weerye, I can not abyde them.

⁶ Moreouer the Lorde of Hostes shall ones prepare a feaste, for all people vpon the hyll: A plenteous, costly, pleasaunt feaste, of fat & wel fede beastes, of swete & most pure thinges.

⁸ Therfore (Lorde) we haue a respecte vnto the waye of thy iudgementes, thy name & thy remembraunce reioyse thy soule.

³ and sayde vnto me: Thou arte my seruaunt Israel, I wylbe honoured in the. ⁴ Then aunswered I: I shall lese my laboure, I shall spende my strength in vayne. Neuertheles, I wyll commytte my cause and my worcke vnto the Lorde my God. ⁵ And now sayth the Lord euen he that fashioned me from my mothers wombe to be his seruaunte, that I may bring Iacob agayne vnto him: howbe it, Israel wil not be gathered vnto hym agayne. In whose syght I am greate; whiche also is my Lorde my God and my strength. ⁶ Let it be but a smal thynge, that thou arte my seruaunte, to set vp the kynredes of Iacob, & to restore the destruccyon of Israel: yf I make the not also the light of the Gentiles. that thou mayest be my helthe vnto the ende of the worlde.

¹³ Beholde, my seruaunt shall deale wysely, therfore shall he be magnyfyed, exalted and greatly honoured.

But herken rather vnto me, & ye shall eate of the beste, & youre soule shall haue her pleasure in plentuousnes. ³ Encline youre eares, & come vnto me, take hede, & your soule shall lyue. For I wyll make an euerlastynge couenaunt wyth you, euen the sure mercyes of Dauid. ⁴ Beholde, I shall geue him for a wytnesse amonge the folke, for a Prynce and Captaine vnto the people.

¹ And therfore crye now, as loude as thou canst. Leaue not of, lyft vp thy voyce like a trompet, and shewe my people their offences, and the house of Iacob their synnes. ² For they seke me daylye and wyll knowe my waies, euen as it were a people that did right & had not forsaken the statutes of their God. They argue with me concerninge right iudgement, and wil pleate at the lawe with their God. ³ Wherfore fast we (saye they) and thou seist it not? we put oure lyues to straytnesse, & thou regardest it not? ⁴ Beholde, when ye fast, your lust remayneth still: for ye do no lesse vyolence to youre detters: lo, ye falle to stryfe and debate, and to smite hym wyth youre fyst that speaketh vnto you. Ye fast not (as som tyme) that your voyce might be hearde aboue.

¹ The spirite of the Lorde God is with me, for the Lorde hath annointed me, & sent me, to preache good tydinges vnto the poore, that I myght binde vp the wounded hertes, that I myght preach delyueraunce to the captyue, and open the preson to them that are bounde: ² that I myght declare the acceptable yeare of the Lorde, and the daye of the vengeaunce of oure God: that I myghte comforte al them that are in heauynesse, ³ that I might geue vnto them that mourne in Sion bewtye in the steade of ashes, ioyful oyntment for syghing, pleasaunt rayment for an heauy mynde: That they might be called excellente in ryghteousnesse, a plantinge of the Lord for hym to reioyce in. ⁴ They shal builde the longe roughe wyldernes, and set vp the olde deserte, They shal repayre the waste places, & such as haue bene voyde thorow out many generacions.

⁹ For when ye haue stolen, murthered, committed aduoutrye, and periury: When ye haue offred vnto Baal, folowyng straunge & vnknowne Goddes. ¹⁰ Then come ye, and stande before me in thys house, whiche hath my name geuen vnto it and say: Tush, we are absolued quite, though we haue done all these abhominacions.

²⁸ Therfore shalte thou saye vnto them: This is the people that neyther heareth the voyce of the Lord theyr God, nor receyueth hys correccyon. Faithfulues & trueth is cleane roted oute of theyr mouth.

¹⁸ Moreouer I hearde Ephraim, that was led awaye captyue, complayne on thys maner: O Lorde, thou haste correcte me, and thy chastening haue I receyued, as an vntamed calfe. Conuerte thou me, and I shalbe conuerted, for thou arte my Lorde God: ¹⁹ Yea as sone as thou turnest me, I shall refourme my self: and when I vnderstande, I shall smyte vpon my thyghe. For verelye I haue committed shamefull thinges: O let my youth beare this reprofe and confusyon. ²⁰ Vpon this complainte, I thoughte thus by my selfe: is not Ephraim my deare sonne? Is he not the chylde, with whom I haue had all myrthe and pastyme? For sence the tyme that I fyrst commened with him, I haue him euer in remembraunce: therfore my verye herte dryueth me vnto hym, gladly and louynglye will I haue mercy vpon him, sayth the Lorde.

⁴⁰ Nun. Let vs loke well vpon oure owne wayes, and remembre oure selues, and turne agayne to the Lorde.

² you only haue I accepted from all the generacyons of the earthe: therfore wyl I vyset you in all youre wickednesses.

⁵ Consydre nowe youre owne wayes in youre hertes (sayth the Lorde of hostes)

⁷ Thus sayeth the Lorde of hostes: Consydre your owne wayes in your hertes,

⁵ Speake vnto all the people of the land, & to the priestes, and saye: when ye fasted and mourneth in the .v. & .vij. moneth (now this .lxx. yeares) dyd ye fast vnto me? ⁶ When ye ate also and droncke; dyd ye not eate & drincke for youre owne selues? ⁷ Are not these the wordes which the Lord spake by his prophetes afore tyme, when Ierusalem was yet inhabited & welthy, she and the cities round aboute her: when there dwelt men, both toward the south and in the playne countreyes?

²³ Therefore when thou offrest thy gift at the altare, & their remembrest that thy brother hath ought against the: ²⁴ leue there thy offringe before the altare, & go thy way first & be reconciled to thy brother, & then come and offre thy gift.

⁷ Wo be vnto the worlde because of offences. Howe be it, it cannot be auoyded but that offences shall be geuen. Neuerthelesse woo be to the man, by whome the offence cometh.

¹⁰ Se that ye not dispise not one of these litelones. For I saye vnto you, that in heauen their aungels alwaies behold the face of my father which is in heauen.

¹⁷ The fyrst day of swete bread the disciples came to Iesus sayinge vnto hym: where wylt thou that we prepare for the to eate the paschall lambe?

³⁴ Iesus sayde vnto hym: Verelye I saye vnto the that thys same nyghte before the cocke crowe thou shalte denye me thryse.

³⁵ And moreouer the swearde shall pearce thy soule, that the thoughtes of manye hertes maye be opened. ³⁶ And ther was a prophetesse, one Anna the doughter of Phanuell of the trybe of Aser which was of a great age, and had liued with her housbande .vij. yeares from her virginitie.

⁵⁷ Ye and why iudge ye not of yourselues, what is ryghte?

He that honoureth not the sonne: the same honoureth not the father, which hath sent him. ²⁴ Verely, verely I say vnto you he that heareth my wordes, and beleueth on him that sent me, hath euerlasting lyfe, & shal not come into damnacion: but is escaped from death vnto lyfe. ²⁵ Verely verely, I saye vnto you: The tyme shall come, and nowe is, when the dead shall heare the voyce of the sonne of God. And they that heare shall lyue. ²⁶ For as the father hath lyfe in him selfe, so lykewyse hath he geuen to the sonne to haue lyfe in him selfe, ²⁷ and hath geuen him power also to iudge, in that he is the sonne of man. ²⁸ Maruaile not at this, the houre shall come in the which all that are in the graues, shal heare his voice, ²⁹ and shall come forth: they that haue done good, vnto the resurreccion of lyfe, and they that hath done euil, vnto the resurreccion of damnacion. ³⁰ I can of myne owne selfe do nothinge at all. As I heare. I iudge: and my iudgement is iust, because I seke not mine owne wyll but the wyll of my father which hath sent me.

⁵¹ I am that lyuinge bread: which came doune from heauen. If any man eate of this bread, he shall lyue for euer. And the bread that I wyll geue is my flesh, which I will geue for the life of the worlde.

Verely, verely, I say vnto you: excepte ye eate the fleshe of the sonne of man and drinke his bloude, ye shall not haue lyue in you. ⁵⁴ Whosoeuer eateth my flesh, and drinketh my bloude, hath eternal lyfe: and I wyll rayse him vp at the laste day. ⁵⁵ For my flesh is meate in dede, and my bloude is drinke in dede. ⁵⁶ He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my bloude, dwelt in me and I in him. ⁵⁷ As the liuinge father hath sent me, euen so lyue I by my father, and he that eateth me shall lyue by me. ⁵⁸ This is the bread which came from heauen: not as your fathers haue eaten Manna and are dead. He that eateth of this breade, shall lyue euer.

⁶³ It is the spirite that quickeneth, the flesh proffetteth nothing. The wordes that I speake vnto you, are spirite and lyfe. ⁶⁴ But there are some of you that beleue not. For Iesus knewe from the beginninge, which they were that beleued not, and wo should betraye him.

And he wet a soppe, and gaue it to Iudas Iscaryoth Simons sonne. ²⁷ And after the sop Satan entred into hym. Then sayde Iesus vnto hym: that thou doest, do quickly.

³ And yf I go to prepare a place for you, I wyl come agayne, and receyue you euen vnto my self, that wher I am, there may ye be also.

⁷ And on the morowe after the saboth day the disciples came together for to breake bread and Paule preached vnto them (readye to departe on the morowe) and contynued the preachynge vnto midnyght.

²⁸ Take hede therfore vnto youre selues, and to all the flocke wherof the holy ghoste hath made you ouersears, to rule the congregacyon of God, which he hath purchased wt hys bloude.

⁵ We haue founde thys man a pestylent felowe, and a mouer of debate vnto all the Iewes thoroughout the world, and a mayntayner of the secte of the Nazarites,

¹⁴ But thys I confesse vnto the, that after that waye (which they call heresye) so worshyppe I the God of my fathers, beleuynge al thynges which are written in the lawe and the Prophetes,

⁵ whyche knew me from the beginninge if they woulde testyfye it. For after the most strayteste secte of oure laye, lyued I a phariseye,

²² But we wyll heare of the what thou thynkest. For we haue hearde of this secte that euery where it is spoken agaynste.

¹⁹ Yea and we knowe that whatsoeuer the law sayeth, he saith it to them which are vnder the lawe. That all mouthes maye be stopped, and all the world be subdued to God,

³⁶ For of hym, and thorowe hym, and for hym, are all thynges. To hym be glorye for euer. Amen

² The powers that be are ordeyned of God. Whosoeuer therfore resisteth power, resisteth the ordinaunce of GOD. And they that resiste, shall receyue to them selfe damnacyon. ³ For rulars are not to be feared for good workes, but for euyll. Wylte thou be wyth oute feare of the power? Do well then: and so shalte thou be praysed of the same.

² Let euery man please his neyghboure vnto his wealth and edifiynge. ³ For Christe pleased not hym selfe, but as it is writen: The rebukes of them whiche rebuke the, fell on me.

¹⁰ I beseche you brethren in the name of oure Lorde Iesus Christe, that ye all speake one thynge, and that there be no dissencyon amonge you: but be ye knyt together in one mynde, and in one meanynge. ¹¹ It is shewed vnto me (my brethren) of you, by them that are of the housse of Cloe, that there is stryfe amonge you. And thys is it that I meane, ¹² how that communly among you, one saith: I hold of Paul, another I holde of Apollo, the thyrd I holde of Cephas, the fourth I holde of Christ.

³ As longe verelye as there is amonge you enuiynge, stryfe and dissencion: are ye not carnall, and walke after the maner of men?

⁵ Therfore iudge nothinge before the tyme vntill the Lorde come, who wyll lyghten thinges, that are hyd in darckenes, and open the counsels of the hertes. And then shall euery man haue praise of God.

¹⁶ Wherfore I desyre you to folowe me. ¹⁷ For this cause haue I sent vnto you Tymotheus, which is my deare sonne, and faithfull in the Lorde, whiche shall put you in remembraunce of my waies, whiche I haue in Christ euen as I teache euery wher in all congregations.

¹⁹ But I wil come to you shortly yf God wil: and will knowe not the wordes of them, which swel, but the power,

¹ There goeth a commen, saiynge: that there is fornicacion amonge you, and such fornication as is not ones named amonge the Gentiles: that one should haue his fathers wyfe.

⁷ Pourge therfore the olde leuen, that ye may be new dowe, as ye are swete bread. For Christ oure easterlambe is offered vp for vs. ⁸ Therfore let vs kepe holy daye, not wyth olde leuen, neither with the leuen of malycyousnes and wyckednes, but with the swete bread of purenes and trueth.

¹ Howe dare one of you hauynge busines wyth another, go to law vnder the wycked, and not rather vnder the sainctes?

Yf anye brother haue a wyfe that beleued not, if she be contente to dwel with hym, let him not put her awaye. ¹³ And the woman, which hath to her husband an infidele, if he consente to dwell with her, let her not put him awaie. ¹⁴ For the vnbeleuinge husbande, is sainctified by the wyfe: and the vnbeleuinge wife, is sainctified by the husbande. Or els were youre chyldren vnclene: but nowe are they pure.

¹⁷ but euen as God hath distributed to euery man. As the Lorde hath called euery person so let him walke: and so ordeine I in all congregations.

For greater is he that prophecieth, then he that speaketh with tounges, excepte he expounde it also, that the congregacion maye haue edifiyng. ⁶ Nowe brethren yf I come vnto you speakinge with tounges, what shall I profite you, excepte I speake vnto you, other by reuelation or knowledge, or propheciynge, or doctryne. ⁷ Moreouer when thynges wythout lyfe, geue sounde: whether it be a pipe or an harpe excepte they make a distinction in the soundes, howe shal it be knowen what is piped or harped? ⁸ And also yf the trompe geue an vncertaine voice, who shall prepare him selfe to fyght? ⁹ Euen so likewyse when ye speake with tounges, excepte ye speake wordes that haue signifycacion, howe shall it be vnderstande what is spoken? For ye shall but speake in the ayer. ¹⁰ Manye kindes of voices are in the worlde and none of them are wythout significacion. ¹¹ If I knowe not what the voice meaneth, I shalbe vnto hym that speaketh, an alient: and he that speaketh shall be alient vnto me ¹² Euen so ye (for as much as ye couete spiritual gyftes) seke that ye maye haue plentye vnto the edifiyng of the congregation. ¹³ Wherfore let him that speaketh with tounges praye, that he maye interprete also. ¹⁴ If I praye wyth tounges, my spyryte prayeth: but my mynde is wythout fruite. ¹⁵ What is it then? I wyl praye with the spirite, and wyll praye with mynde also. I wil singe with the spyrite, and wil singe with the minde also. ¹⁶ For els when thou blessest with the spirite howe shal he that occupieth the roume of the vnlearned saye amen at thy geuynge of thankes, saynge: he vnderstandeth not what thou sayeste? ¹⁷ Thou verelye geueste thankes wel, but the other is not edifyed. ¹⁸ I thanke my God, I speake with tounges more then ye all. ¹⁹ Yet had I leuer in the congregation, to speake fyue wordes with my mynd to the information of other, rather then .x. thousand wordes with the tounge. ²⁰ Brethren be not chyldren in wyt howebeit as concerninge maliciousnes be children: but in wyt be perfect. ²¹ In the lawe it is written, wyth other tounges, and with other lippes wyl I speake vnto thys people, and yet for al that wil they not heare me, sayeth the Lorde. ²² Wherfore, tounges are for a signe, not to them that beleue, but to them that beleue not. Contrarywyse propheciyng serueth not, for them that beleue not: but for them whiche beleue. ²³ Yf therfore when all the congregation is come together, and all speake wyth tounges, there come in they that are vnlearned, or they whyche beleue not: wyll they not saye that ye are out of your wyttes?

³³ For God is not causer of strife, but of peace, as he is in all other congregations of the sainctes. ³⁴ Let your wyues kepe silence in the congregations. For it is not permitted vnto them to speake: but let them be vnder obedience, as sayeth the lawe.

³⁴ Let your wyues kepe silence in the congregations. For it is not permitted vnto them to speake: but let them be vnder obedience, as sayeth the lawe. ³⁵ If they wil learne anye thynge, let them axe theyr husbandes at home. For it is shame for women to speake in the congregation.

⁵¹ Beholde I shewe you a mysterye. We shal not al slepe: but we shal al be chaunged,

¹ Of the gatheringe for the sainctes, as I haue ordeined in the congregations of Galatia, euen, so do ye. ² Vpon some sonday let euerye one of you put a syde at home, and laye vp whatsoeuer he thinketh meate that there be no gatheringes when I come.

⁶ which hath made vs able to minister the new testament, not of the letter, but of the spirite. For the letter killeth, but the spirite geueth lyfe.

¹ The spyryte speaketh euydentlye that in the later tymes some shal departe from the fayth, & shall geue heed vnto spyrytes of erroure, and deuelysh doctryne of them ² which speake false thorowe hypocrisye, and haue theyr consciences marked with an hote Iron,

³ These thynges teache and exhorte. Yf any man teache otherwyse, and is not contente wt the holsome wordes of our Lord Iesus christ, and wyth the doctryne of Godlynes, ⁴ he is puft vp, and knoweth nothyng: but wasteth hys braynes about questyons and stryfe of wordes, whereof sprynge enuye, stryfe, raylynges, euyll surmysynges

⁵ For thys cause left I the in Crete, that thou shouldest performe that whiche was lackynge, and shouldest ordeyne elders in euery cytye as I appoynted the.

² but in these laste dayes he hath spoken vnto vs by hys sonne, whom he hath made heyre of all thynges, by whom also he made the worlde. ³ Whyche sonne beyng the bryghtnes of hys glorye, and verye Image of his substaunce, bearinge vp al thinges wyth the worde of hys power, hath in his owne persone pourged our synnes, and is sitting on the right hand of the maiestie on hygh,

¹⁴ Are they not al ministringe spirites, sent to minister for their sakes, whiche shal be heyres of saluation?

¹⁴ But stronge meate belongeth to them that are perfecte, which thorow custome haue theyr wittes exercised to iudge both good and euil also.

¹² that ye faynt not, but folowe them, whiche thorowe fayth & pacience inheret the promyses.

²⁸ euen so Christ was ones offered to take away the synnes of many, and vnto them that loke for hym, shall he appere agayne wythoute synne vnto saluacyon.

What sonne is that whom the father chasteneth not? ⁸ Yf ye be not vnder correccyon (whereof all are partakers) then are ye bastardes and not sonnes. ⁹ Moreouer seynge we had fathers of oure fleshe whiche corrected vs, and we gaue them reuerence: shoulde we not muche rather be in subieccyon vnto the father of spyrytuall gyftes, that we myght lyue? ¹⁰ And they verely for a few dayes, nurtered vs after their owne pleasure, but he learneth vs vnto that whiche is profytable that we myght receyue of hys holynes. ¹¹ No maner chastisynge for the presente tyme semeth to be ioyeous, but greuous: neuerthelesse afterwarde, it bryngeth the quyet frute of ryghtuousnes vnto them whiche are therein exercysed.

²⁰ The God of peace that brought agayne from death oure Lorde Iesus, the great shepe herde of the shepe, thorowe the bloude of the euerlastynge testament,

⁵ Harken my deare beloued brethren. Hath not God chosen the pore of thys world, which are ryche in faythe, and heyres of the kyngedome whiche he promysed to them that loue hym? ⁶ But ye haue despysed the pore. Are not the ryche they whiche oppresse you: and they which drawe you before iudges?

¹ My brethren be not euery man a mayster, remembrynge howe that we shal receyue the more damnacyon:

⁹ Therewyth blesse we God the father, and therewyth cursse wemen which are made after the similitude of God.

¹² But about al thinges my brethren, sweare not, neyther by heauen, neyther by earth, neyther by anye other othe. Let your yea be yea and youre naye, naye: leaste ye falle into hypocrysye.

¹ Lykewyse let the wyues be in subiectyon to theyr husbandes, that euen they which beleue not the worde, maye wythoute the worde be wonne by the conuersation of the wiues:

⁵ For after thys maner in the olde tyme dyd the holye women whiche trusted in God, tyer them selues, and were obedyente to theyr husbandes ⁶ euen as Sara obeyed Abraham, and called hym Lorde: whose doughters ye are as longe as ye do well, and be not afrayde of euerye shadowe.

¹ There were false prophetes among the people, euen as there shalbe false teachers amonge you, which priuilie shal bringe in damnable sectes, euen denyenge the Lorde that hath bought them and bringe vpon them selues swyft dampnacion, ² and many shal folowe theyr damnable wayes, by whiche the way of trueth shalbe euyl spoken of,

¹³ and receiue the reward of vnrightuousnes. They count it pleasure to lyue deliciously for a season. Spottes they are and filthines, liuinge at pleasure, and in disceiueable waies feastinge with you,

¹⁰ Neuertheles the daye of the Lord wyl come as a thiefe in the nyght in the which daye, the heauens shal peryshe wyth terryble noyse, and the elementes shal melte wyth heate, and the earth wyth the workes that are therin shal burne.

⁹ If we knowledge oure sinnes, he is faythfull and iust, to forgeue vs our sinnes, and to clense vs from al vnrightuousnes.

¹⁹ They went out from vs, but they were not of vs. For yf they had bene of vs: they woulde no doubte, haue continued wyth vs. But that fortuned, that it myghte appeare, that they were not of vs.

²⁸ And now babes abide in him, that when he shal appeare, we maye be bolde, and not be made ashamed of him at his comming:

²⁰ But if our hertes condempne vs, God is greater then our hertes, and knoweth all thinges. ²¹ Beloued, yf our hertes condempne vs not, then haue we trust to Godward,

¹⁹ We knowe that we are of God, and that the world is altogether set on wyckednes.

¹² These are spottes which of youre kyndnes feast together, wythoute feare, fedyng themselues. Cloudes they are wythout water, caryed aboute of wyndes, and trees wythout frute at gatherynge tyme, twyse dead & plucked vp by rotes.

¹⁴ Enoch the seuenth from Adam, prophesyed fore of suche, saying: Beholde, the Lorde shall come wt thousandes of saynctes,

⁷ Behold he commeth wyth cloudes, and al eyes shal se him: and they also whiche persed hym. And all kynredes of the earth shal waile. Euen so. Amen:

⁵ Remember therfore from whence thou arte fallen, and repente, and do the fyrste workes. Or els I wil come vnto the shortlye, and wil remoue thy candelsticke out of his place, excepte thou repent.

² Be awake & strengthe the thinges whiche remayne, that are ready to dye. For I haue not founde thy workes perfecte before God. ³ Remember therfore howe thou hast receiued and hearde, and hold faste & repent. Yf thou shalt not watche, I wyl come on the as a thiefe, and thou shalt not knowe, what hour I wil come vpon the.

¹⁹ As manye as I loue, I rebuke and chastes. Be feruent therfore and repente.

¹¹ And I sawe a great whyte seate and hym that sate on it, from whose face fled away bothe the earthe & heauen, & theyr place was no more founde. ¹² And I sawe the deade, both great and small stande before God: & the bokes were opened, & an other boke was opened, which is the boke of lyfe, and the dead were iudged of those thynges: which were wrytten in the bokes accordyng to theyr deedes:

²⁰ He which testifyeth these thynges sayeth: be it, I come quickly, Amen. Euen so: come Lord Iesu.
