⁵ while he was speaking, a bright cloud surrounded them: and suddenly a voice broke out of the cloud, saying, "this is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him."

¹⁷ of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: at the same time a voice was heard from heaven, saying, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

¹⁸ "behold, my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew justice to the nations.

¹¹ when this voice from heaven was heard, "thou art my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased."

⁷ then a cloud surrounded them, and a voice from the cloud, said, "this is my beloved son, hear him."

²² and the holy spirit descended upon him in a corporeal form like a dove. and a voice came from heaven, which said, thou art my beloved son, in thee I am well pleased.

³⁴ while he was speaking, there came a cloud and over-shadowed them, who were seized with fear, at their vanishing in the cloud, ³⁵ from whence a voice issued out, saying, "this is my beloved son, obey him."

¹⁶ for God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have eternal life.

³⁵ the father loveth the son, and hath given all things into his hand.

²⁰ for the father loveth the son, and sheweth him all that he himself doth: and he will shew him greater works than these, so that you will be surprized. ²¹ for as the father raiseth up the dead, and restores them to life: even so the son gives life to whom he will. ²² besides, the father judgeth no man; but hath committed the full power of judging unto the son: ²³ that all men should honour the son, even as they honour the father. he that honoureth not the son, honoureth not the father who hath sent him.

³⁷ and the father who sent me, hath himself born witness of me. his voice you have never heard, nor ever seen his appearance,

²⁸ father, glorify thy name." then there came this voice from heaven, "I have glorified it, and will glorify it again." ²⁹ the people therefore present who heard the noise, said it was thunder: others said, an angel spake to him. ³⁰ Jesus said, this voice came not for my sake, but for yours.

⁹ as the father has loved me, and I have loved you: so do you persevere in your love to me. ¹⁰ your love to me will be in keeping my commandments: even as I love my father by keeping his commandments.

⁹ After this discourse, while they beheld, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight.

²² for Moses said to the fathers, "a prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you, of your brethren, like unto me; observe whatever he shall say to you. ²³ and whoever he be that will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people."

³⁷ this is that Moses who said to the children of Israel, "a prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear."

³ As he was on his journey, and near Damascus, on a sudden, a light from heaven surrounded him, ⁴ and he fell to the ground, and heard a voice which said to him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? ⁵ and he said, who art thou, Lord? and the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: [it is hard for thee to kick against the goad. Then trembling with the fright Saul said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? and the Lord said to him,] ⁶ but rise, and go into the city, and you shall be told what you must do.

⁶ to display the glory of his grace, which has render'd us acceptable by his beloved son:

¹³ who has deliver'd you from the state of darkness, and has translated you into the kingdom of his beloved son.

¹ God who at sundry times, and in divers manners, spake in time past to the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his SON, ² whom he hath constituted heir of all things, by whom also be made the world.

¹ Therefore we ought to give the greater attention to the things we have heard, for fear we should abandon the gospel. ² for if the law deliver'd by angels was put in execution, and every transgression and disobedience was justly punish'd as it deserv'd; ³ how shall we escape, if we neglect that salutary doctrine? which was first published by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those that heard him;

⁹ and by a perfect obedience he procured eternal salvation for all that obey him;

²⁵ Take care that you be not deaf to him that speaketh: for if they did not escape, who disregarded the oracles pronounc'd on earth, much less shall we escape, if we turn away from him that delivered the oracles from heaven: ²⁶ whose voice then shook the earth: but he has promised to do it now, saying, " yet once more I will shake, not the earth only, but heaven too."

¹⁶ for, the information we gave you of the powerful advent of our Lord Jesus Christ, did not proceed from any artfully contriv'd fables, we our selves having been spectators of his majesty. ¹⁷ for he received this honourable and glorious testimony from his father, when the voice broke out from the magnificent splendor, in these words, "this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased."

⁷ See! he is coming on the clouds; and every eye shall see him, even they who pierced him: then all the tribes of the earth will smite their breasts at the sight: even so it will be.
