1 Jesus having called his twelve disciples, he gave them power to cast out unclean spirits, and to heal diseases and disorders of every kind.
2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; the first is Simon, who is called Peter, then Andrew his brother,
3 James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas, and Matthew the publican, James the son of Alpheus, and Labbeus, whose sirname was Thaddeus, Simon the zelot,
4 and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.
5 Jesus made these twelve his missionaries, and gave them these instructions, don't go any where among the Gentiles, nor enter into any city of the Samaritans.
6 but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
7 and wherever ye go, make this proclamation: the kingdom of heaven is nigh.
8 heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: what ye have received gratis, give gratis.
9 Provide neither gold nor silver, nor brass in your purses:
10 nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, nor shoes, nor staves: for the workman deserves his maintenance.
11 whatever city or town ye enter into, find out some house of repute, and there lodge till ye leave that place.
12 As soon as ye enter into any house, salute the family.
13 if the family be worthy, your benediction shall have its effect; but if it be not worthy, it shall only redound to your own advantage.
14 if they should not receive you, nor mind your instructions: when ye depart out of that house, or city, shake off the pagan dust from your feet.
15 I declare unto you, the people of Sodom and Gomorrha shall find less severity in the day of judgment, than that city.
16 By your mission you will be expos'd like sheep in the midst of wolves: be then as circumspect as serpents, and as inoffensive as doves:
17 be upon your guard with such men, for they will deliver you up to their tribunals, and scourge you in their synagogues.
18 and ye shall be brought before governors and kings upon my account, to bear testimony of me to them and the rest of the Gentiles.
19 but when they take you. into custody, be not sollicitous, how or what ye shall speak, for at the very instant you shall be inspir'd what to say.
20 for it is not properly you that speak, but the spirit of your father that speaketh by you.
21 then the brother shall betray his brother to death, and the father his child: and children shall rise up against their parents, and be the instruments of their death.
22 and ye shall be hated by all the world for professing my name: but he that perseveres unto the end, shall escape.
23 Then if they persecute you in one city, fly to another: for I assure you, before you have preach'd thro' all the cities of the Jews, the son of man will come.
24 the disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.
25 if the disciple fare as well as his master, and the servant as his lord, is not that sufficient? if they style the master of the house Beelzebub, much more will they call his domestics so.
26 fear them not therefore: for there is nothing hid that shall not be revealed; or secret that shall not be made known.
27 what I tell you in private, declare it in publick: and what is whisper'd in the ear, proclaim from the battlements of the house.
28 fear not those who can only kill the body, but cannot hurt the soul: rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.
29 are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? yet not one of them shall lose its life independently of your father,
30 by whom the very hairs of your head are all numbred:
31 lay aside then your fears, ye are of a superior rank to those animals.
32 Whosoever therefore shall own me before men, him will I own likewise before my father who is in heaven.
33 but whosoever shall renounce me before men, him will I also renounce before my father who is in heaven.
34 don't imagine that I am come to bring peace upon the earth: I came not to bring peace, but war.
35 my coming will occasion discord between the son and his father, between the daughter and her mother, between the daughter in law and her mother in law:
36 even a man's own domestics shall prove his foes.
37 he that loveth father or mother more than me, is unworthy of me: he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is unworthy of me.
38 and he that does not take his cross, and so follow after me, is unworthy of me.
39 he that would preserve his life, shall lose it: and he that exposeth his life for my sake, shall save it.
40 He that receives you, receives me; and he that receives me, receives him that sent me.
41 he that receives a prophet in quality of a prophet, shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receives a just man, as such, shall receive the reward of the just.
42 and whoever shall give only a cup of cold water to the meanest of you, considering him as my disciple, shall most assuredly be far from losing his reward.

1 and Saul was accessory to his death. At that time the persecution was so violent against the church at Jerusalem, they were all dispers'd through the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles,
Acts 8:5-25
5 Philip being arrived at Samaria, preached Christ to them.
6 the people attended with great unanimity, hearing his discourses, and observing the miracles he wrought.
7 for the impure spirits, with great outcries, came out of many that were possessed: many paralytic, and lame people were cured.
8 which caused great joy in that city.
9 One Simon was then resident in that place, who pretended to be something extra-ordinary, and by his magical practices had so enchanted the people of Samaria,
10 that they all followed him, both old and young. this man, said they, is the plenipotentiary of God.
11 no wonder they were so attach'd to one, who had for a long time infatuated them with his arts.
12 but when they had embraced the doctrine of Philip, concerning the kingdom of the Messias, and the authority of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 nay, Simon himself became a proselyte: and after he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and was transported at the sight of the miracles and prodigies which he perform'd.
14 Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem, heard that the Samaritans had embraced the word of God, they sent Peter and John,
15 who upon their arrival, prayed for them that they might receive the holy spirit.
16 (for as yet he had not descended on any of them: they having only been baptized in the name of the Lord
17 Jesus) the apostles therefore gave them imposition of hands, and they received the holy spirit.
18 when Simon saw that the holy spirit was given by imposition of the hands of the apostles, he offered them money, saying,
19 give me too this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands he may receive the holy spirit.
20 but Peter said unto him, thy money perish with thee, for thinking that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
21 thou hast no manner of share in this gift: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
22 repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray to God, to forgive, if it be possible, this suggestion you have entertain'd.
23 for I perceive you are upon the brink of misery, led captive by your sin.
24 Simon answered, do you pray to the Lord for me, that nothing like what you mention may befall me.
25 after this the apostles having certified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel by the way in many villages of the Samaritans.
Acts 10:45-11:18
45 all the Jewish converts, who came with Paul, were astonished to see that the gift of the holy spirit was diffused likewise among the Gentiles.

21 but the Lord said to me, "be gone, for I will send you far hence, even to the Gentiles."
22 Till that word, the Jews had given their attention, but then they broke out into a full cry, "out of the world with such a fellow: for it is not fit he should live."
23 thus they roar'd, and threw off their cloaks, and scatter'd dust in the air:
Romans 15:8-9
8 for I tell you, that Jesus Christ was a minister to the Jews, to manifest the veracity of God in fulfilling the promises made to the fathers:
9 and you Gentiles ought to glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, "for this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name ."
1 Thessalonians 2:16
16 who by obstructing our endeavours to save the Gentiles, continue to fill up the measure of their enormities; for which consummate vengeance is falling upon them.

10 take care not to despise one of such an humble disposition: for I tell you, that in heaven their angels are continually attending the presence of my father who is in heaven:
Luke 15:3-10
3 but he propos'd to them this parable.
4 who of you that has an hundred sheep, will not, upon losing one, leave the ninety nine in the desart, to go after that which is lost, till he finds it?
5 and when he hath found it, joyfully lay it upon his shoulders?
6 and when he comes home, call his friends and neighbours together, and say to them, rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep, that was lost?
7 I tell you, that there shall likewise be greater joy in heaven for one sinner that repents, than for ninety nine just persons, that need no repentance.
8 or if a woman, that has ten pieces of money, should lose one of them, will she not light a lamp, sweep the house, and carefully search, till she find it?
9 and when 'tis found, will she not call her friends aud neighbours together, and say, rejoice with me, for I have found the piece, I had lost?
10 even so, I assure you, the angels in heaven rejoice, when any one sinner becomes a penitent.
Luke 24:47
47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preach'd in his name, among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

25 so not being able to agree, they retir'd, upon Paul's having told them, that the holy spirit had very justly said to our fathers by the prophet Esaias,
26 "go to this people and say, hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive.
27 for the heart of this people is become gross, their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted and I should heal them."
28 take notice therefore, that the offers of divine salvation are sent to the Gentiles, and they will receive them.
Romans 11:11-15
11 You will say then, "were they suffer'd to stumble meerly for their ruin?" no: but that thro' their fall, salvation might be offer'd to the Gentiles, in order to provoke their emulation.
12 now if their fall be to the advancement of the world, and the few converts among them bring in whole numbers of the Gentiles: how much more so will it be, when the Jewish body recover?
13 this concerns you Gentiles. for as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I should do honour to my character,
14 if I could by any means excite the emulation of my dear countrymen, in order to save some.
15 for, if by rejecting them, the world may be reconciled; what shall their restoration be, but a general resurrection?
1 Peter 2:25

12 Thus were many signs and wonders wrought among the people, by the apostles, who us'd to meet in Solomon's porch with great unanimity:
13 but the people who reverenc'd them,
14 did not venture to approach near them. the number of those who believed in the Lord, both men and women, increas'd more and more.
15 insomuch that they brought the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least, the shadow of Peter might cover some of them, as he pass'd by.
Acts 8:18-23
Acts 20:33-35
33 I have not desir'd to get from any one either silver, or gold, or apparel.

35 my constant example has shown you that the disabled should be assisted by your labours, remembring the words of the Lord Jesus, who said, "it is a greater happiness to give than to receive."
Mark 6:8-11
8 he order'd them to take nothing for their journey, but a single staff, no scrip, no bread, nor money in their purse:
9 to have but one pair of shoes, and but one coat.
10 whatever house you enter into, said he, there abide, till you leave the place.
11 wherever they shall refuse to entertain you, or to hear you, at your departure shake off the dust of your feet, as a testimonial against them. I assure you, the people of Sodom and Gomorrha shall be treated with less severity in the day of judgment, than that city.
Luke 9:3-5
3 and he said to them make no provision for your journey: take neither staff, nor sack, nor bread, nor money; and but one coat for each.
4 when you are lodg'd in any house, there stay, till you leave the place.
5 if any refuse to entertain you, when you leave that city, shake off the dust from your feet, as a sign of their being abandon'd.
Luke 10:4-12
4 carry neither purse, nor bag, nor shoes; neither salute any man by the way.
5 at your entrance into any house, first say, prosperity be to this family.
6 if any be there, who deserve your benediction, it shall have its effect upon them; otherwise, it shall redound to your own advantage.
7 continue in the same house, and eat and drink whatever it affords: for a labourer deserves his wages: therefore don't shift from family to family.
8 when you come to any city, where they receive you, eat without scruple, whatever food is set before you,
9 and heal the sick you find there. tell the inhabitants the kingdom of God is drawing nigh unto them.
10 but when you enter into any city, and they refuse to entertain you, go through the streets,
11 and cry, "we shake off the dust, that sticks to our feet, against you: but take notice, the kingdom of God has been near you."
12 I declare unto you, that the people of Sodom shall be treated with less severity in the day of judgment, than that city.
Luke 22:35
35 When I sent you, added Jesus, without either purse, or bag, or shoes, was you in any want? not at all, answer'd they.
1 Corinthians 9:7-27
7 who ever serves in war at his own charges? who plants a vineyard, and does not eat of the fruit? or who feeds a flock, and eats not of the milk of the flock?
8 is this only the voice of reason? does not the law express the same too?
9 for it is written in the law of Moses, "thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn." are oxen the objects of divine care?
10 or is it said, no doubt, for our sakes? for our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he who plows should plow in hope; and that he who thresheth should expect the advantage.
11 if for your benefit we have sown spirituals, is it so extraordinary if we should reap some benefit from your temporals?
12 if others partake of your substance, have not I a better title? nevertheless, I have not made use of this privilege; but bear with any thing rather than obstruct the gospel of Christ.
13 don't you know, that they who prepare the sacrifices, do eat of the sacrifice in the temple? and they who wait at the altar, have their portion from the altar?
14 even so has the Lord ordained, that they who preach the gospel, should live by the gospel.
15 but I have not made use of these advantages. neither have I writ this to obtain such maintenance: for I had rather die for want, than be deprived of such matter of glorying.
16 for in barely preaching the gospel, I have nothing to glory in: because I am under an obligation to do it; yea, wo is unto me if I preach not the gospel.
17 now if I do this willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, it is a dispensation of trust which must be discharged.
18 whence then is my reward? why, from my preaching the gospel of Christ gratis, without making use of the privilege which the gospel gives me.
19 for tho' I am independent of all men, yet have I subjected myself to all, that I might gain the more.
20 to the Jews, I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain those who are under the law;
21 to those who are without the law, as without that law, (not as being under no law to God, but as under the law to Christ) that I might gain those who are without the law.
22 to the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak: I became all things to all men, that I might save all sorts of men.
23 and I do all for the gospel's sake, that I may share in the benefits thereof.
24 You know, that in a race, tho' all run, but one receives the prize: so run, that you may obtain.
25 every one that strives for the mastery, is extremely temperate: now, they do it to obtain a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible one.
26 I therefore so run, not as one that is distanc'd: I fight, but not with the air.
27 but I mortify my body, and bring it into subjection: lest after having been a herald to others, I my self should be thrown out.
Luke 3:11
11 he answer'd them, let him that hath two coats give one to him that hath none; and let him that has plenty of provisions act in like manner.
1 Corinthians 9:4-14
4 have we not a right to meat and drink?
5 have not we the liberty to take a christian woman with us in our travels, as well as the rest of the apostles, as the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas did?
6 or I and Barnabas, are we only excluded the privilege of not working?

39 now she had a sister, named Mary, who placed herself at the feet of Jesus, to attend to his discourse.
40 but Martha perplex'd with the hurry of her affairs, came to him, and said, Lord, don't you observe my sister has left me to serve all alone: direct her therefore to give me some assistance.
41 but Jesus replied to her, Martha, Martha, you trouble yourself about a world of cares:
42 but the best and the most necessary concern is, what Mary has pitch'd upon, of which she shall never be deprived.

6 with Annas the high priest, Caiphas, John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the pontifical family.
7 and having caused Peter and John to appear, they asked, by what influence, or by what authority have you done this?
8 then Peter filled with the holy spirit, said to them, Rulers of the people, and senators of Israel,
9 since we are this day to be examined about the cure of a cripple, and by what means he was recovered; be it known to you all,
10 and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you entirely recover'd.
11 this is the stone which was rejected by you builders, but is become the chief of the angle.
12 salvation is not to be had by any other: for there is no other name under heaven given to men whereby we can be saved.
13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were illiterate, and of the lower rank of men, they were surpriz'd; but tho' they knew that they had been Jesus's disciples,
14 yet seeing the man who was cured standing with them, they could not tell what to reply.
15 having therefore order'd them to withdraw from the council, they conferred among themselves,
16 saying, what shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all that dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it.
17 but to prevent its spreading any further among the people, let us charge them with threats not to speak for the future to any man in that name.
18 so they called them in, and commanded them not to speak or teach upon any account, in the name of Jesus.
19 but Peter and John made answer, do you yourselves judge, whether it be right in the sight of God, to obey you rather than God.
20 for we cannot avoid publishing what we have seen and heard.
21 so when they had further threatned them, they let them go, not finding it practicable to punish them, because of the people, who all glorified God for that which was done.
22 for the man who was so miraculously cured, was above forty years old.

27 when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,
28 saying, did not we strictly command you, not to teach in this name? and yet you have spread your doctrine through Jerusalem, and you endeavour to make us responsible for this man's blood.
29 then Peter and the other apostles made answer, we ought to obey God rather than men.
30 the God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew, and hanged on a tree.
31 him hath God rais'd by his power to be the author of salvation, by giving repentance to Israel, and the remission of their sins.
32 and we are his witnesses in what we say, and so is the holy spirit, whom God hath given to those that obey him.
33 When they heard that, they were so enraged, they consulted to take away their lives.
34 when a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of law, who was respected by all the people, rose up in the council, and moved the apostles might withdraw for some time.
35 and then he said, "ye men of Israel, be cautious how you proceed with regard to these men.
36 for some time ago one Theudas started up, pretending to be something extraordinary, who was join'd indeed by about four hundred men: but he was no sooner put to death, than his followers all dispers'd, and were reduc'd to nothing.
37 after this man, Judas of Galilee appear'd, at the time of the registry, and seduc'd many people: he also perished, and all his followers were dispersed.
38 my opinion therefore is, not to meddle with these men, but to let them go on: for if the design be a human project, it will fall of it self. but if it be from God,
39 you cannot defeat it; perhaps you may be found warring against heaven." To him they agreed: and
40 after the apostles were called in, and scourged, they charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and then releas'd them. out they went from the council,
41 full of joy, that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for the name of Jesus.
42 and every day either in the temple or in private houses they continued to preach and proclaim Jesus to be the Christ.
Acts 14:5-6
Acts 17:14
14 Upon this the brethren immediately sent Paul away to the sea-coast, but Silas and Timothy staid there.
Acts 22:19
19 said I, they know it is I that imprison'd those who believed on thee, and caus'd them to be scourg'd in the assemblies:
Acts 23:1-22
1 Then Paul directing himself to the council, thus said, "hitherto I have liv'd strictly conscientious, as God knows."
2 at which the high priest Ananias order'd those that were near him to strike him on the face:
3 which made Paul say, "may God strike thee, thou plaister'd wall: you sit to judge me according to law, and in defiance of the law you order me to be struck!"
4 what, said the standers-by, do you revile the high priest of God?
5 Paul replied, I did not consider, brethren, that he was the high priest. it is indeed written, "thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people."
6 But as Paul knew that one part of the Sanhedrim were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out, my brethren, "I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee, and I am now prosecuted for believing the resurrection of the dead."
7 at these words the Pharisees and the Sadducees were all in confusion, the whole assembly being divided:
8 for the Sadducees maintain, there is neither resurrection, nor angel, or spirit, whereas the Pharisees acknowledge both: the clamour was great,
9 and the Scribes taking part with the Pharisees, grew warm in the debate, and said, "we find no harm in this man; perhaps a spirit or an angel has spoke to him."
10 but the tumult growing worse, the tribune apprehensive that Paul might be torn to pieces among them, order'd detachment to secure him by force of arms, and bring him to the castle.
11 The night following, the Lord appear'd to him, and said, Paul, take courage; for the same remonstrances that you have made concerning me at Jerusalem, you must likewise make at Rome.
12 when it was day, some Jews, that had form'd a conspiracy, engag'd themselves by an oath, not to eat, or drink, till they had kill'd Paul.
13 the conspirators, who were above forty in number,
14 went to the chief priests and senators, and said, "we have bound our selves by oath not to eat till we have slain Paul.
15 if you will move it then to the tribune in the name of the Sanhedrim, to send him here to-morrow, under colour of examining his affair with more solemnity, we shall take care to dispatch him, and make a short end of his journey."
16 Paul's sister's son hearing of the ambuscade, went to the castle, and being admitted, told Paul;
17 who having sent for one of the centurions, said, introduce this young man to the tribune, for he has something to communicate to him.
18 accordingly he went along with him, and having introduc'd him to the tribune, he said, Paul, who is in custody sent for me, and desired me to introduce this young man, who has something to tell you.
19 then the tribune taking him by the hand, retir'd with him in private, and ask'd, what he had to say.
20 the Jews, said he, have agreed to desire you would send Paul down to-morrow to the council, under the pretext of examining him more strictly.
21 but don't believe them: for above forty of them lie in ambush, having bound themselves by oath not to eat or drink till they have kill'd him: they are already prepar'd, and only wait your answer.
22 then the tribune dismiss'd the youth with this charge, don't tell any one, that you have given me this information.

27 when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,

Acts 23:33-34
Acts 24:1-26
1 Five days after the sovereign pontiff Ananias arriv'd and some of the senators, who with one Tertullus a pleader, appear'd before the governour as plaintiffs against Paul.
2 so Paul was call'd, and Tertullus thus open'd the charge.
3 "The happiness our nation enjoys, most noble Felix, by the wisdom of your administration, affects us too sensibly not to be acknowledg'd every where, and upon all occasions, with the utmost gratitude.
4 but not to trespass upon you too far, be pleas'd to hear what I have to say in brief, with your usual indulgence.
5 this man is known to be a pernicious fellow that goes about the world to raise seditions among the Jews: he is the ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes,
6 and has attempted to prophane the temple: we secur'd him, and would have try'd him by our law:
7 but general Lysias interpos'd, and with open force took him out of our hands,
8 ordering his accusers to appear before you. if you please to interrogate him yourself, you will find the whole charge to be truly laid."
9 this the Jews confirm'd by declaring it was all fact.
10 Then the governour sign'd to Paul to reply; who said, I enter upon my defence with the greater confidence, by considering you have govern'd this nation several years:
11 possibly you are appriz'd, that it is not above twelve days since, that I went to Jerusalem to worship.
12 they neither found me in conference with any one in the temple, nor working up the people either in the assemblies or in the streets:
13 so far are they from proving what they lay to my charge.
14 I do indeed own, that I serve the God of our nation according to the discipline they call sect: and believe whatever is written in the law and in the prophets.
15 I have the same expectations from the DEITY, which they themselves entertain, that of the resurrection both of the just and of the unjust.
16 and 'tis my endeavour to preserve a conscience free from reproach both with respect to God, and with respect to men.
17 after several years absence I came to Jerusalem, with contributions for my brethren, and oblations for the temple:
18 there religiously employ'd some Asiatic Jews found me, without crowd or tumult:
19 and here they ought to have appear'd, if they had any thing to object against me.
20 or let these now declare, if they could convict me of any misdemeanor, when I was brought before the Sanhedrim:
21 unless it be, that I did indeed break out into this expression, it "is for the resurrection of the dead, that I am now call'd into question."
22 Then Felix adjourn'd them, saying, I shall inform myself more particularly of this sect, and when general Lysias comes, I will give you a full hearing.
23 Felix then order'd a centurion to take Paul into his custody, without confining him so as to hinder his friends from waiting upon him.
24 some time after he came to Cesarea with his wife Drusilla, a Jewess, when sending for Paul, he heard him discourse about the Christian faith.
25 but as he was treating of justice, temperance, and a future judgment, Felix greatly alarm'd, said, "withdraw for the present; and when I am at leisure, I will send for you."
26 this he frequently did, and convers'd with him upon the presumption that Paul would have

2 Timothy 4:16-17
16 At my first defence, I had no assistance, for every body deserted me. I wish it may never be laid to their charge.
17 however the Lord assisted and strengthen'd me, that the gospel might be confirm'd by my remonstrance, and all the nations might hear it; so that I was deliver'd out of the mouth of the lion:

25 I therefore direct you, not to be sollicitous, with regard to life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor with regard to the body, what clothes ye shall wear: Is not life it self a greater gift than food; and the body a greater gift than rayment?
Matthew 6:31
31 therefore make no such sollicitous enquiries, as what shall we eat? or what shall we drink? or how shall we be clothed?
Matthew 6:34
34 therefore sollicitous about the morrow: for the morrow shall be taken up with the cares of the morrow, the trouble of the day is sufficient for one day.
Mark 13:11-13
11 now when they shall lead you to deliver you up, be not sollicitous about your defence, don't premeditate upon it; but what shall be suggested to you at the very occasion, that deliver: for it is not you that will plead, but the holy spirit.
12 then the brother shall betray his brother to death, and the father his son: children shall prosecute their parents, and be the instruments to take away their lives:

Luke 21:12-17
12 but before all these events, they will seize upon you and persecute you, drag you to the synagogues and to prisons, being accused before kings and governours, for professing my name.
13 and that shall be one proof of the truth of your profession.
14 fix it therefore in your mind, not to think beforehand about your defence.
15 for I will make you speak with such strength of argument, as all your adversaries shall not be able to contradict or withstand.
16 you will be betrayed even by your very parents, and brethren, and kindred, and friends. nay, some of you they will prosecute even to death.
17 you will be hated by all mankind for professing my name,

8 then Peter filled with the holy spirit, said to them, Rulers of the people, and senators of Israel,
9 since we are this day to be examined about the cure of a cripple, and by what means he was recovered; be it known to you all,

Acts 5:29-33
29 then Peter and the other apostles made answer, we ought to obey God rather than men.
30 the God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew, and hanged on a tree.
31 him hath God rais'd by his power to be the author of salvation, by giving repentance to Israel, and the remission of their sins.

2 I think myself happy, king Agrippa, in having this opportunity of vindicating myself in your presence, from every thing the Jews have laid to my charge:
3 for I know you are fully acquainted with the Jewish customs and controversies: and therefore I beg the indulgence of your attention.
4 what course of life I led at Jerusalem, where I was brought up from my youth among those of my own nation, is known to all the Jews.
5 they can testify, if they will, that I early profess'd myself a Pharisee, a member of the most rigorous sect of our religion:
6 and now I stand arraign'd for expecting the accomplishment of the divine promise made to our fathers,
7 which our twelve tribes by their continual services, night and day, hope themselves to obtain: yet for that hope, king Agrippa, do the Jews now accuse me.
8 you may think it something incredible that God should raise the dead:
9 I myself too once thought myself oblig'd strenuously to oppose the professors of Jesus the Nazarene, as I actually did at Jerusalem,
10 where numbers of converts I threw into jail, by warrant from the high priests: and when they were put to death, I myself was an accomplice.

Matthew 13:1-17
1 The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea-side.
2 and there was so great a croud of people got about him, that he was oblig'd to go into a bark, where he sat, while the people all stood on the shore.
3 Then he talk'd to them much in parables, and said, a sower went out to sow.
4 and in sowing, part of the grain fell in the high-way, and the fowls light and peck'd them up:
5 another part fell upon stony places, where it had not much earth: and it soon sprung up, because the soil was shallow:
6 so that as the sun arose it was scorched, and for want of root, withered away.
7 another part fell among thorns: and the thorns grew up and choked it.
8 but another part falling upon good soil, became fruitful, some grains yielding an hundred, some sixty, and some thirty.
9 he that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
10 And the disciples came, and said to him, why do you speak to them in parables?
11 to whom he answered, because you are allowed to know the mysteries of the gospel-dispensation, but to them it is not allowed.
12 for to him that uses what he has, shall be given, and he shall have abundantly: but from him that uses it not, shall be taken away, even what he hath.
13 therefore speak I to them in parables: because they over-look what they see: and are inattentive to what they hear, neither will they comprehend.
14 and in them is fulfilled that prophecy of Esaias, "by hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand: and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive.
15 for the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them."
16 but happy are you that your eyes have sight; and that your ears have their hearing.
17 for I declare unto you, that many prophets and just men have desired to see what ye see, and have not seen it: and to hear what ye hear, and have not heard it.
Matthew 13:34-35

Mark 9:43-48
43 if even thy hand should make thee transgress, saw it off, and cast it away, it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than to have both hands and go into Gehenna, the unextinguishable fire:
44 where their worm does not die, and the fire is not extinguished.
45 and if thy foot make thee transgress, saw it off, it is better for you to enter into life, tho' lame, than to have both feet, and be thrown into Gehenna, the unextinguishable fire:
46 where their worm does not die, and the fire is not extinguished.
47 and if your eye make you transgress, pull it out; it is better for you to enter into the kingdom of God, with but one eye, than to have two, and be thrown into the Gehenna of fire: where the worm does not die,
48 and the fire is not extinguished.

23 and being in the infernal regions of torments, he lift up his eyes, and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bower.
24 and he cry'd out, saying, father Abraham, take pity on me, and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water to cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25 but Abraham said, son, remember you had your enjoyments, when you were alive, and Lazarus his misfortunes: but now he has his consolation, and you your torments.
26 besides this, there is an unalterable chasm between us and you, so that the passage from one place to the other is impracticable to those who should attempt it.

35 what shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or penury, or peril, or sword?
36 for as it is written, "for thy sake we are sacrificed every day; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter:"
37 yet after all we are more than conquerors, through him that loved us.
38 for I am fully persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 neither the high, nor the low, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God by Christ Jesus our Lord.

2 Timothy 4:6-8
6 as for me, my blood will soon be pour'd out, and the time of my departure draws nigh:
7 I have struggled in a glorious cause: I have finish'd my career: I have stood to the faith:
8 I have nothing more to do, but to receive the crown of virtue reserv'd for me, which the Lord, the just judge, will give me in that day: and not only to me, but to those also, who have long'd for his appearance.

12 and I saw the dead, small and great, stand before the throne; the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out. of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 the sea gave up the dead which were in it; death and the grave delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every one according to their works.

71 and when he was going out at the porch, another maid saw him, and said to those that were by, this fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.
72 but he denied it again, and swore I don't know the man.

74 then he fell to solemn imprecations, and swore, "I don't know the man." and immediately the cock crew:

47 for thus has the Lord commanded us, "I have appointed you to be a light to the Gentiles, that you should bring salvation to the remotest parts of the earth."
48 when the Gentiles heard this, they received the word with joy, glorifying the Lord: and as many as were dispos'd to eternal life, believed.

10 for if any man see you who have a just notion of idols, sitting at table in their temple, will not the person who is wrong in his notions be incouraged to eat what is offered to idols, tho' contrary to his own opinion?
11 so that your notions may endanger the life of thy weak brother, for whom Christ died.
12 but when you thus offend against the brethren, by wounding their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.

9 as it is written, " he hath distributed, he hath given to the poor: his liberality remaineth for ever."
10 now he that furnishes seed to the sower, and bread for food, shall furnish and multiply what you sow, and increase the fruits of your liberality.
11 so that being enriched in every thing, you may be continually beneficent to the glory of God by our thanksgiving.
12 for the execution of this charitable office, does not only supply the necessities of the converts, but by the thanksgivings of many redounds also to the glory of God.
13 having this proof of you by such a supply, they will glorify God for your profess'd subjection to the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution to them as well as others;

15 and you yourselves know, O Philippians, that when I first preach'd the gospel, at my departure from Macedonia, I receiv'd no manner of assistance from any other church but yours;
16 for you sent more than once to Thessalonica to supply my occasions.
17 not that I desire a present; but what I desire is, that the fruits of your liberality may greatly redound to your own account.
18 I have now receiv'd the whole, and have more than sufficient: I am loaded with the presents you sent by Epaphroditus, which I have receiv'd as grateful incense, as a sacrifice which God accepts and approves.
19 for which may my God crown all your desires with glory by Christ Jesus.
