⁴ but these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember what I now tell you. I did not tell you so much at the beginning, because, I was then to be with you.

¹⁵ Jesus answer'd them, can the bride-men mourn, while the bridegroom is with them? the day indeed will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then will be the time to fast.

⁷ and wherever ye go, make this proclamation: the kingdom of heaven is nigh.

²⁵ remember, I have forewarn'd you.

¹⁹ Jesus answered, can the bridemen fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.

²³ be you therefore upon your guard: remember I have forewarned you against all events.

¹² but before all these events, they will seize upon you and persecute you, drag you to the synagogues and to prisons, being accused before kings and governours, for professing my name. ¹³ and that shall be one proof of the truth of your profession.

¹⁹ I tell it you now before it happens, that when it is come to pass, you may believe that I am the Messias.

²⁹ this I have told you now, before it come to pass, that when it is come to pass, ye may believe. my conversation will now be but short with you,

¹² by your authority I have kept them, during my being with them in the world: those that you gave me I have kept, and not one of them is lost, except the son of perdition: according as the scripture foretold. ¹³ now that I am coming to thee, while I am here, I make these requests for them, that their joy in me may be compleat.

¹⁶ for I will make him see how much he must suffer for my name.

²³ save what the holy spirit in every city declares, "that bonds and afflictions wait for me." ²⁴ things that little affect me, nor is life so much my concern, as to finish my course, and the charge I receiv'd from the Lord Jesus, to attest the declaration of the divine favour.

¹⁴ knowing that I must soon leave this tabernacle, as our Lord Jesus Christ has signify'd to me.
