⁴ for he that is a true christian, overcomes the world: by obtaining faith, we have gain'd a victory over the world.

³³ these things I have appriz'd you of, that ye might repose your confidence in me. the world shall give you trouble: but take courage, I have overcome the world.

³⁵ what shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or penury, or peril, or sword? ³⁶ for as it is written, "for thy sake we are sacrificed every day; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter:" ³⁷ yet after all we are more than conquerors, through him that loved us.

⁵⁷ but thanks be to God, who has given us the victory, thro' our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹³ I write to you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the wicked spirit. I write to you, little children, because ye have known the father. ¹⁴ I write to you, fathers, because you have known him that is from the beginning. ⁴ ye are of God, my dear children, and you have overcome them: because he that is in you, is superior to him that is in the world.

¹ Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Messiah, is born of God: and every one that loves the father, will likewise be affected with love to his son.

⁵ Who is it that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the son of God?

⁷ he that hath an ear, let him hear what the spirit saith to the churches, to him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of my God."
