¹³ And the LORD said unto me, "Cast it unto the potter" - a goodly price for me to be valued at of them. And I took the thirty silver pens, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD.

² He came up as a spray before him, and as a root out of a dry land. There was neither fashion or beauty on him. And when we looked on him, there was no godliness that we should lust after him. ³ He was despised and cast out of men's company; and one that had suffered sorrow, and had experience of infirmity. And we were as one that had hid his face from him.

⁷ A little while have I forsaken thee, but with great mercifulness shall I take thee up unto me. ⁸ When I was angry, I hid my face from thee for a little season, but through everlasting goodness shall I pardon thee, sayeth the LORD thine avenger. ⁹ And this must be unto me as the water of Noah. For like as I have sworn that I will not bring the water of Noah any more upon the world: so have I sworn, that I will never be angry with thee, nor reprove thee. ¹⁰ The mountains shall remove, and the hills shall fall down: but my loving-kindness shall not move, and the bond of my peace shall not fall down from thee, sayeth the LORD thy merciful lover.

³ Then when Judas, which betrayed him, saw that he was condemned, he repented himself; and brought again the thirty plates of silver to the chief priests and elders, ⁴ saying, "I have sinned, betraying the innocent blood." And they said, "What is that to us? see thou to that." ⁵ And he cast down the silver plates in the temple, and departed, and went and hung himself. ⁶ And the chief priests took the silver plates and said, "It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood." ⁷ And they took counsel, and bought with them a potter's field to bury strangers in. ⁸ Wherefore that field is called the field of blood, until this day. ⁹ Then was fulfilled, that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, "And they took thirty silver plates, the price of him that was valued, whom they bought of the children of Israel, ¹⁰ and they gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me."

¹² And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.

¹⁸ And the same hath now possessed a plot of ground with the reward of iniquity. And when he was hanged, burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. ¹⁹ And it is known unto all the inhabiters of Jerusalem. Insomuch that that field is called in their mother tongue, Akeldama, that is to say the blood field.
