⁵ Then let mine enemy persecute my soul, and take me. Yea, let him tread my life down upon the earth, and lay mine honor in the dust. Selah.

¹⁵ I have sewed a sackcloth upon my skin, and lie with my strength in the dust.

⁵ If I have cleaved unto vanity, or if my feet have run to deceive, ⁶ let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may see my innocence. ⁷ If so be that I have withdrawn my foot out of the right way, if my heart hath followed mine eyesight, if I have stained or defiled my hands, ⁸ then shall I sow, and another eat; yea, my generation and posterity shall be clean rooted out. ⁹ "If my heart hath lusted after my neighbour's wife, or if I have laid wait at his door: ¹⁰ O then let my wife be another man's harlot and let others lie with her.

³⁸ But if cause be that my land cry against me, or that the furrows thereof make any complaint; ³⁹ if I have eaten the fruits thereof unpaid for, yea if I have grieved any of the plowmen; ⁴⁰ then let thistles grow instead of my wheat, and thorns for my barley."

¹² look well, that thou makest all such as be stubburn, to obey; tread all the ungodly under thy feet, ¹³ cast them down into the mire, and cover their faces with darkness;

² Many ones there be that say of my soul, "There is no help for him in his God." Selah.

⁵ Through thee will we overthrow our enemies, and in thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.

¹² Nevertheless, man will not abide in honour, seeing he may be compared unto the beasts that perish; this is the way of them.

¹² Through God will we do great acts, for it is he that shall tread down our enemies.

⁶ For I shall send him among those hypocritical people, among the people that have deserved my disfavour shall I send him: that he may utterly rob them, spoil them, and tread them down like the mire in the street.

³ "I have trodden the press myself alone, and of all people, there was not one with me. Thus have I trodden down mine enemies in my wrath, and set my feet upon them in my indignation: And their blood sprang upon my clothes, and so have I stained all my raiment.

¹³ Thou art the comfort of Israel. All that forsake thee, shall be ashamed. And they that depart from thee shall be written in the earth. For they have lost the LORD that is the fountain of the water of life.

¹³ Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for the salvation of thine anointed. Thou smotest down the head in the house of the ungodly, and discoveredest his foundations, even unto the neck of him. Selah.

⁵ They shall be as the giants, which in the battle tread down the mire upon the streets. They shall fight, for the LORD shall be with them, so that the horsemen shall be confounded.

³ Ye shall tread down the ungodly: for they shall be like the ashes under the soles of your feet, in the day that I shall make, sayeth the LORD of Hosts.
