Neither let them say, "We have devoured him." ²⁶ Let them be put to confusion and shame together, that rejoice at my trouble: let them be clothed with rebuke and dishonour, that boast themselves against me. ²⁷ Let them be glad and rejoice, that favour my righteous dealing; yea, let them say always, "Blessed be the LORD, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant." ²⁸ And as for my tongue, it shall be talking of thy righteousness and of thy praise, all the day long.

And they said, "What is that to us? see thou to that." ⁵ And he cast down the silver plates in the temple, and departed, and went and hung himself.

²⁷ Then the soldiers of the deputy took Jesus unto the common hall, and gathered unto him all the company. ²⁸ And they stripped him, and put on him a purple robe, ²⁹ and plaited a crown of thorns and put upon his head, and a reed in his right hand. And bowed their knees before him, and mocked him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews," ³⁰ and spitted upon him, and took the reed and smote him on the head.

³⁹ They that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads ⁴⁰ and saying, "Thou that destroyest the temple of God, and buildest it in three days: save thyself. If thou be the son of God, come down from the cross." ⁴¹ Likewise also the high priests, mocking him with the scribes and elders, said, ⁴² "He saved others, himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel: let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. ⁴³ He trusted in God: let God deliver him now if he will have him, for he said, 'I am the son of God.'"

⁵³ When he thus spake unto them, the lawyers and the Pharisees began to wax busy about him, and to stop his mouth with many questions; ⁵⁴ Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something of his mouth, whereby they might accuse him.

⁴¹ And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept on it, ⁴² saying, "If thou hadst known those things which belong unto thy peace, even at thy time: But now are they hid from thine eyes.

³⁴ Take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be overcome with surfeiting and drunkenness, and cares of this world: and that, that day come on you unawares.

⁶ But as soon as he had said unto them, "I am he," they went backwards and fell to the ground.

³ and desired favour against him that he would send for him to Jerusalem, and laid wait for him in the way to kill him.
