Job 14 Cross References - MSTC

1 Man that is born of a woman hath but a short time to live, and is full of divers miseries. 2 He cometh up and is cut down like a flower. He flyeth as it were a shadow, and never continueth in one state. 3 Doest thou open thine eyes upon such one, and bringest me in thy judgment? 4 Who can make it clean, that cometh from an unclean thing? Nobody. 5 The days of man are short, the number of his months are known only to thee. Thou hast appointed him his bounds; he cannot go beyond them. 6 Go from him, that he may rest until his day come: which he looketh for, like as a hireling doth. 7 "If a tree be cut down, there is some hope yet, that it will sprout and shoot forth the branches again; 8 For though a root be waxen old and dead in the ground, 9 yet when the stock getteth the scent of water, it will bud, and bring forth bows, like as when it was first planted. 10 But as for man; when he is dead, perished and consumed away, what becometh of him? 11 The floods when they be dried up, and the rivers when they be empty, are filled again through the flowing waters of the sea: 12 but when man sleepeth, he riseth not again, until the heaven perish: he shall not wake up nor rise out of his sleep. 13 O that thou wouldest keep me, and hide me in the hell, until thy wrath were stilled: and to appoint me a time, wherein thou mightest remember me. 14 May a dead man live again? All the days of this my pilgrimage am I looking, till my changing shall come. 15 If thou wouldest but call me, I should obey thee: only despise not the work of thine own hands. 16 "For thou hast numbered all my goings, yet be not thou too extreme upon my sins. 17 Thou hast sealed up mine offenses, as it were in a bag: but be merciful unto my wickedness. 18 The mountains fall away at the last, the rocks are removed out of their place; 19 the waters pierce through the very stones by little and little, the floods wash away the gravel and the earth. Even so destroyest thou the hope of man in like manner. 20 Thou prevailest against him, so that he passeth away; thou changes his estate, and puttest him from thee. 21 Whether his children come to worship or no, he cannot tell: And if they be men of low degree, he knoweth not. 22 While he liveth, his flesh must have travail: And while the soul is in him, he must be in sorrow."

Shall not his roots be plucked out, his fruit be broken off, his green branches wither and fade away? Yea without either strong armies or many people, shall it be plucked up by the roots. 10 Behold, it was planted: shall it prosper therefore? Be not high minded, but fear: 21 seeing that God spared not the natural branches, lest haply he also spare not thee. 22 Behold the kindness and rigorousness of God: on them which fell, rigorousness: but towards thee, kindness; if thou continue in his kindness. Or else thou shalt be hewn off, 23 and they if they bide not still in unbelief shall be grafted in again. For God is of power to graft them in again. 24 For if thou wast cut out of a natural wild olive tree, and wast grafted contrary to nature in a true olive tree: how much more shall the natural branches be graffed in their own olive tree again?

And I answered, "O LORD God, thou knowest." 4 And he said unto me, "Prophesy thou upon these bones, and speak unto them, 'Ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. 5 Thus sayeth the LORD God unto these bones: Behold, I will put breath into you, that ye may live. 6 I will give you sinews, and make flesh grow upon you, and cover you over with skin: and so give you breath, that ye may live and know that I am the LORD.'" 7 So I prophesied, as he had commanded me: and as I was prophesying, there came a noise and a great motion, so that the bones ran every one to another. 8 Now when I had looked, behold, they had sinews, and flesh grew upon them: and above they were covered with skin, but there was no breath in them. 9 Then said he unto me, "Thou son of man, prophesy thou toward the wind: prophesy, and speak to the wind, 'Thus sayeth the LORD God: Come, O thou air, from the four winds, and blow upon these slain, that they may be restored to life.'" 10 So I prophesied, as he had commanded me: then came the breath into them and they received life, and stood up upon their feet: a marvelous great sortie. 11 Moreover, he said unto me, "Thou son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, 'Our bones are dried up, our hope is gone, we are clean cut off.' 12 Therefore prophesy thou, and speak unto them, 'Thus sayeth the LORD God: Behold, I will open your graves, O my people, and take you out of your sepulchers, and bring you into the land of Israel again. 13 So shall ye know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves, and bring you out of them. 14 My spirit also will I put in you, and ye shall live: I will set you again in your own land, and ye shall know that I am the LORD which have said it, and fulfilled it indeed.'"
