⁵ Wherefore then is this people and Jerusalem gone so far back, that they turn not again? They are ever the longer, the more obstinate, and will not be converted.

¹³ Take fast hold of doctrine, let her not go: keep her, for she is thy life.

²⁰ But if ye be obstinate and rebellious, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for thus the LORD hath promised with his own mouth.

¹⁰ They dare say to the Prophets, "See not," and unto them that be clear of judgment, "Tell us of nothing for to come, but speak friendly words unto us, and preach us false things.

²⁰ The keeping of dust, and foolishness of heart hath turned them aside: so that none of them can have a free conscience to think, "Do not I err?"

³² Doth a maiden forget her raiment, or a bride her stomacher? But as for my people, they have forgotten me for days innumerable.

¹¹ And the LORD said unto me, "The shrinking Israel is more righteous than the unfaithful Judah: ¹² and therefore go preach these words toward the north, and say, 'Thou shrinking Israel, turn again, sayeth the LORD; and I will not turn my face from you, for I am merciful, sayeth the LORD. And I will not always bear displeasure against thee: ¹³ but on this condition, that thou know thy great blasphemy: Namely, that thou hast unfaithfully forsaken the LORD thy God, and hast made thyself partaker of strange gods under all green trees, but hast had no will to hear my voice, sayeth the LORD. ¹⁴ O ye shrinking children, turn again, sayeth the LORD: and I will be married with you. For I will take one out of the city, and two out of one generation from among you, and bring you out of Zion:

³ Where as thou, O LORD, lookest only upon faith and truth. Thou hast scourged them, but they took no repentance: thou hast corrected them for amendment, but they refused thy correction. They made their faces harder than stone, and would not amend.

²⁷ And like as a net is full of birds, so are their houses full of that which they have gotten with falsity and deceit. Hereof cometh their great substance and riches,

²⁴ But they were not obedient. They inclined not their ears thereunto, but went after their own imaginations and after the motions of their own wicked heart: and so turned themselves away, and converted not unto me. ²⁵ And this have they done, from the time that your fathers came out of Egypt, unto this day. Nevertheless, I sent unto them my servants, all the prophets. I rose up early and sent them word, ²⁶ yet would they not hearken, nor offer me their ears; but were obstinate and worse than their fathers.

⁶ They have set their stole in the midst of deceit, and for very dissembling falsity they will not know me, sayeth the LORD.

¹⁶ For Israel is gone back like a wanton cow. The LORD therefore shall make her feed, as the lamb that goeth astray.

⁷ My people hath no lust to turn unto me, their prophets lay the yoke upon them, but they ease them not of their burden.

¹¹ Nevertheless, they would not take heed, but turned their backs and stopped their ears, that they should not hear.

⁴⁰ And yet will ye not come to me that ye might have life.

²¹ Examine all things, and keep that which is good.

⁹ even him whose coming is by the working of Satan, with all lying power, signs, and wonders: ¹⁰ and in all deceivableness of unrighteousness, among them that perish: because they received not the love of the truth, that they might have been saved. ¹¹ And therefore God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe lies: ¹² that all they might be damned which believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

²⁵ See that ye despise not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not which refused him that spake on earth; Much more shall we not escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:
