⁷ O LORD, thou makest me weak, but thou refreshest me, and makest me strong again. All the day long am I despised, and laughed to scorn of every man:

²² Moses returned unto the LORD and said, "LORD wherefore dealest thou cruelly with this people: and wherefore hast thou sent me? ²³ For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath fared foul with this folk, and yet thou hast not delivered thy people at all."

¹¹ And Moses said unto the LORD, "Wherefore dealest thou so cruelly with thy servant? Wherefore do I not find favour in thy sight, seeing that thou puttest the weight of this people upon me? ¹² Have I conceived all this people, or have I begotten them, that thou shouldest say unto me, 'Carry them in thy bosom, as a nurse beareth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?' ¹³ Where should I have flesh to give unto all this people? For they weep unto me saying, 'Give us flesh that we may eat.' ¹⁴ I am not able to bear all this people alone, for it is too heavy for me. ¹⁵ Wherefore, if thou deal thus with me; kill me, I pray thee, if I have found favour in thy sight: and let me not see my wretchedness."

²³ And he went from thence up to Bethel. And as he was going up in the way, there came little lads out of the city and mocked him, and said to him, "Go up, thou bald head! Go up thou baldhead!"

⁶ But as for me, I am a worm and no man: a very scorn of men and the outcast of the people. ⁷ All they that see me, laugh me to scorn: they shoot out their lips, and shake their heads.

¹⁵ But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: Yea, the very lame came together against me unawares, making mouths at me, and ceased not. ¹⁶ With the flatterers were busy mockers, who gnashed upon me with their teeth.

⁹ For the zeal of thine house hath even eaten me; and the rebukes of them that rebuked thee is fallen upon me. ¹⁰ I wept, and chastened myself with fasting, and that was turned to my reproof. ¹¹ I put on a sackcloth, and therefore they jested upon me. ¹² They that sit in the gate speak against me, and the drunkards make songs upon me.

⁶ Then said I, "Oh LORD God, I cannot speak, for I am yet but young." ⁷ And the LORD answered me thus, "Say not so, 'I am too young': For thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee unto, and whatsoever I command thee, that shalt thou speak. ⁸ Be not afraid of their faces, for I will be with thee, to deliver thee, sayeth the LORD."

¹⁸ For behold, this day do I make thee a strong fenced town, an iron pillar, and a wall of steel against the whole land; against the kings and mighty men of Judah; against the priests and people of the land. ¹⁹ They shall fight against thee, but they shall not be able to overcome thee: for I am with thee, to deliver thee, sayeth the LORD."

¹⁰ O mother, alas that ever thou didst bear me, an enemy and hated of the whole land: Though I never lent nor received upon usury, yet all men speak evil upon me.

¹⁸ Shall my heaviness endure forever? Are my plagues then so great, that they may never be healed? Wilt thou be as a water that faileth, and cannot continue?"

¹⁶ And I enforced not to be a shepherd that should not follow thee: and the day of destruction have I not desired, thou knowest. And that proceeded out of my mouth was right in thy sight.

⁹ Wherefore, I thought from henceforth not to speak of him, nor to preach anymore in his name. But the word of the LORD was a very burning fire in my heart and in my bones, which when I would have stopped, I might not.

²⁶ 'The LORD hath ordained thee to be priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, that thou shouldest be the chief in the house of the LORD above all prophets, and preachers, and that thou mightest put them in prison, or in the stocks.

¹⁴ I am laughed to scorn of all my people; they make songs upon me all the day long.

¹⁴ Now when the spirit took me up, and carried me away, I went with a heavy and sorrowful mind, but the hand of the LORD comforted me right soon.

⁷ Be ye sure, O Israel: the time of visitation is come, the days of recompensing are at hand. As for the prophet, ye hold him for a fool; and him that is rich in the spirit, for a mad man: so great is your wickedness and malice.

⁸ As for me, I am full of strength, and of the spirit of the LORD; full of judgment and boldness, to show the house of Jacob their wickedness, and the house of Israel their sin.

¹⁴ All these things heard the Pharisees also which were covetous. And they mocked him,

⁶³ And the men that stood about Jesus, mocked him, and smote him, ⁶⁴ and blindfolded him, and smote his face. And asked him, saying, "Aread who it is that smote thee?"

¹¹ And Herod, with his men of war, despised him, and mocked him; And arrayed him in white, and sent him again to Pilate.

³⁵ And the people stood and beheld. And the rulers mocked him with them, saying, "He helped other men, let him help himself if he be Christ, the chosen of God." ³⁶ The soldiers also mocked him, and came and gave him vinegar,

¹⁸ Certain Philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoics, disputed with him. And some there were which said, "What will this babbler say?" Others said, "He seemeth to be a tidings-bringer of new devils," because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.

³² When they heard of the resurrection from death, some mocked, and others said, "We will hear thee again of this matter."

⁹ Me thinketh that God hath set forth us, which are apostles, for the lowest of all: as it were, men appointed to death. For we are a gazingstock unto the world, and to the angels, and to men. ¹⁰ We are fools for Christ's sake, and ye are wise through Christ: we are weak, and ye are strong. Ye are honorable, and we are despised. ¹¹ Even unto this day we hunger and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted with fists, and have no certain dwelling place, ¹² and labour working with our own hands. We are reviled, and yet we bless. We are persecuted, and suffer it. ¹³ We are evil spoken of, and we pray. We are made as it were the filthiness of the world, the offscouring of all things, even unto this time.

⁶ Either only I and Barnabas have not power this to do?
