²³ For as I passed by and beheld the manner how ye worship your gods, I found an altar wherein was written, Unto the unknown God. Whom ye then ignorantly worship, him show I unto you:

²¹ This thou doest, while I hold my tongue: and thinkest wickedly that I am even such a one as thyself; but I will reprove thee, and set before thee the things that thou hast done.

²⁰ He hath not dealt so with any nation; neither have the heathen knowledge of his laws. Praise the everlasting! Hallelujah!

⁹ But in vain they worship me, teaching doctrines which are nothing but men's precepts.'"

²² Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship. For salvation cometh of the Jews.

⁵⁴ Jesus answered, "If I honour myself, mine honour is nothing worth. It is my father that honoureth me, which ye say is your God.

³ This is life eternal: that they might know thee, that only very God, and whom thou hast sent, Jesus Christ.

²⁵ O righteous father, the very world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.

³⁰ And the time of this ignorance God regarded not: but now he biddeth all men everywhere to repent,

²⁰ So that his invisible things, that is to say, his eternal power and godhead, are understood and seen by the works from the creation of the world. So that they are without excuse, ²¹ inasmuch as when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful: but waxed full of vanities in their imaginations. And their foolish hearts were blinded. ²² When they counted themselves wise, they became fools ²³ and turned the glory of the immortal God, unto the similitude of the image: of mortal man, and of birds, and four footed beasts and of serpents. ²⁴ Wherefore God, likewise, gave them up unto their hearts' lusts, unto uncleanness to defile their own bodies between themselves: ²⁵ which turned his truth unto a lie, and worshipped and served the creatures more than the creator, which is blessed forever, Amen.

²⁸ And as it seemed not good unto them to be a known of God, even so God delivered them up unto a lewd mind, that they should do those things which were not comely,

²¹ For when the world, through wisdom, knew not God in the wisdom of God: it pleased God through foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

⁵ And though there be that are called "gods," whether in heaven or in earth — as there be "gods" many and "lords" many -

⁴ in whom the God of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest should shine unto them the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, which is the image of God. ⁵ For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus to be the Lord, and preach ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. ⁶ For it is God that commanded the light to shine out of darkness, which hath shined in our hearts, for to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

⁸ Notwithstanding, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them, which by nature were no gods: ⁹ But now, seeing ye know God — yea rather are known of God — how is it that ye turn again unto the weak and beggarly ceremonies, whereunto again ye desire afresh to be in bondage?

¹² remember, I say, that ye were at that time without Christ, and were reputed aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and were strangers from the testaments of promise, and had no hope, and were without God in this world.

⁴ which is an adversary, and is exalted above all that is called God, or that is worshipped: so that he shall sit as God in the temple of God, and show himself as God.

¹⁷ So then unto God, King everlasting, immortal, invisible, and wise only, be honour and praise for ever and ever. Amen.

²⁰ We know that the son of God is come, and hath given us understanding, to know him that is true: and we be in the truth through his son Jesus Christ. He is very God, and eternal life.
