¹¹ The wicked say, “How can God know? Does the Most High have knowledge?”

¹³ Yet you say: ‘What does God know? Does He judge through thick darkness? ¹⁴ Thick clouds veil Him so He does not see us as He traverses the vault of heaven.’

¹¹ He says to himself, “God has forgotten; He hides His face and never sees.”

²¹ would not God have discovered, since He knows the secrets of the heart?

⁹ They set their mouths against the heavens, and their tongues strut across the earth.

⁷ They say, “The LORD does not see; the God of Jacob pays no heed.”

O LORD, You have searched me and known me. ² You know when I sit and when I rise; You understand my thoughts from afar. ³ You search out my path and my lying down; You are aware of all my ways. ⁴ Even before a word is on my tongue, You know all about it, O LORD. ⁵ You hem me in behind and before; You have laid Your hand upon me. ⁶ Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.

¹² “Son of man,” He said to me, “do you see what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the darkness, each at the shrine of his own idol? For they are saying, ‘The LORD does not see us; the LORD has forsaken the land.’”

² But they fail to consider in their hearts that I remember all their evil. Now their deeds are all around them; they are before My face.

¹² And at that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps and punish the men settled in complacency, who say to themselves, ‘The LORD will do nothing, either good or bad.’
