⁸ A bribe is a charm to its giver; wherever he turns, he succeeds.

⁹ “I already have plenty, my brother,” Esau replied. “Keep what belongs to you.” ¹⁰ But Jacob insisted, “No, please! If I have found favor in your sight, then receive this gift from my hand. And Ziba answered, “Indeed, he is staying in Jerusalem, for he has said, ‘Today, the house of Israel will restore to me the kingdom of my grandfather.’” ⁴ So the king said to Ziba, “All that belongs to Mephibosheth is now yours!” “I humbly bow before you,” said Ziba. “May I find favor in your eyes, my lord the king!”

³ Both hands are skilled at evil; the prince and the judge demand a bribe. When the powerful utters his evil desire, they all conspire together.
