2 “Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They do not wash their hands before they eat.”

Mark 2:16-18

16 When the scribes and Pharisees saw Jesus eating with these people, they asked His disciples, “Why does He eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” 17 On hearing this, Jesus told them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” 18 Now the disciples of John and of the Pharisees were often fasting. So people came to Jesus and asked, “Why don’t Your disciples fast like John’s disciples and those of the Pharisees?”

Mark 7:2-3

2 And seeing some of His disciples eating with hands that were defiled—that is, unwashed—they found fault. 3 Now in holding to the tradition of the elders, the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat until they wash their hands ceremonially.

Acts 21:21

21 But they are under the impression that you teach all the Jews who live among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or observe our customs.

Acts 21:24
