²¹ Why do You not pardon my transgression and take away my iniquity? For soon I will lie down in the dust; You will seek me, but I will be no more.”

¹⁰ After David had numbered the troops, his conscience was stricken and he said to the LORD, “I have sinned greatly in what I have done. Now, O LORD, I beg You to take away the iniquity of Your servant, for I have acted very foolishly.”

¹³ For now I would be lying down in peace; I would be asleep and at rest

⁸ The eye that beholds me will no longer see me. You will look for me, but I will be no more.

⁹ Please remember that You molded me like clay. Would You now return me to dust?

¹⁴ If I sinned, You would take note, and would not acquit me of my iniquity.

²³ How many are my iniquities and sins? Reveal to me my transgression and sin. ²⁴ Why do You hide Your face and consider me as Your enemy?

¹⁴ and say to corruption, ‘You are my father,’ and to the worm, ‘My mother,’ or ‘My sister,’

³² He is carried to the grave, and watch is kept over his tomb. ³³ The clods of the valley are sweet to him; everyone follows behind him, and those before him are without number.

³⁶ yet he passed away and was no more; though I searched, he could not be found.

¹⁵ As for man, his days are like grass—he blooms like a flower of the field;

⁷ before the dust returns to the ground from which it came and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

¹⁹ Your dead will live; their bodies will rise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust! For your dew is like the dew of the morning, and the earth will bring forth her dead.

⁹ Do not be angry, O LORD, beyond measure; do not remember our iniquity forever. Oh, look upon us, we pray; we are all Your people!

⁴² “We have sinned and rebelled; You have not forgiven.” ⁴³ You have covered Yourself in anger and pursued us; You have killed without pity. ⁴⁴ You have covered Yourself with a cloud that no prayer can pass through.

²⁰ Why have You forgotten us forever? Why have You forsaken us for so long? ²¹ Restore us to Yourself, O LORD, so we may return; renew our days as of old, ²² unless You have utterly rejected us and remain angry with us beyond measure.

² And many who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting life, but others to shame and everlasting contempt.

² Bring your confessions and return to the LORD. Say to Him: “Take away all our iniquity and receive us graciously, that we may present the fruit of our lips.

¹⁸ Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity and passes over the transgression of the remnant of His inheritance—who does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in loving devotion? ¹⁹ He will again have compassion on us; He will vanquish our iniquities. You will cast out all our sins into the depths of the sea.

²⁹ The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

¹⁴ He gave Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.

⁹ If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

⁵ But you know that Christ appeared to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.
