² When Paul had been called in, Tertullus opened the prosecution: “Because of you, we have enjoyed a lasting peace, and your foresight has brought worthy reforms to this nation.

³ For the wicked man boasts in the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the LORD.

² They lie to one another; they speak with flattering lips and a double heart. ³ May the LORD cut off all flattering lips and every boastful tongue.

²⁸ A lying tongue hates those it crushes, and a flattering mouth causes ruin.
