⁴¹ When they heard this the ten began to be indignant at James and John, so Jesus called them to him and said:

²⁴ When the ten heard of this, they were indignant at the two brothers;

³³ Then they came to Capernaum; and when he got into the house he asked them, "What were you discussing on the road?" ³⁴ But they were silent, for on the road they were disputing together which one was greatest. ³⁵ So he sat down and called the Twelve, and said to them, "If any one wishes to be first, he must be last of all, and the servant of all." ³⁶ Then Jesus took a little child, set it among them, and folding it in his arms, he said,

²⁴ And there arose also a dispute among them as to which of them could be considered the greatest,

¹⁰ As for brotherly love, be tenderly affectionate one to another, in honor preferring one another.

³ Do nothing out of strife, nothing out of vanity, but let each one in true humility consider the others to be of more account than himself.

⁵ Or do you suppose that it is in vain that the Scripture says, "The spirit which has its home in us yearns over us unto jealousy?"
