¹⁶ Then he came to Nazareth where he had been brought up. and, as was his custom, he entered into the synagogue on the Sabbath Day, and stood up to read.

"Where did he get all this?" they asked; "What is the wisdom that is given to this man, and miracles such as these that happen at his hands? ³ Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?"

²⁶ Six months later the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee, called Nazareth, ²⁷ to a maiden betrothed to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. Her name was Mary.

³⁹ As soon as all that the law required had been done, they returned to Galilee to their own town, Nazareth.

⁴² And when he was twelve years old they went up, as was customary, at the time of the feast

⁵¹ Then he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and he was always obedient to them. But his mother kept treasuring up all these incidents in her hearts.
