³¹ Then he took the twelve aside and told them. "See, we are on our way to Jerusalem, and all prophets regarding the son of Man will be fulfilled.

²¹ After this Jesus the Christ began to show his disciples how he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things at the hands of the elders and chief priests and Scribes, and be put to death, and on the third day be raised again.

²² As they continued going from place to place in Galilee, Jesus said to them. "The Son of man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men; ²³ "and they will kill him, but on the third day he will rise again." And they were greatly grieved.

¹⁷ When Jesus was about to go up to Jerusalem, he took the Twelve aside by themselves, and as they went he said to them. ¹⁸ "Look! We are on the way up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man will be betrayed to the chief priests and the scribes. They will condemn him to death, ¹⁹ "and hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified; and on the third day he will rise from the grave."

⁹ They that had eaten were about four thousand.

³⁰ Then he strictly charged them not to say this about him to any one; ³¹ and he began to explain to them that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests, and the Scribes, and be put to death, and after two days rise again.

³² They were still on the road going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus led the way; and they were amazed, and some, although they followed, were afraid. Then once more he took the Twelve, and began to tell them what was about to befall him. ³³ "See," said he, "we are going up to Jerusalem and the Son of man will be betrayed to the high priests and the Scribes. They will condemn him to death, and will hand him over to the Gentiles, ³⁴ who will mock him, spit upon him, flog him, and put him to death; and after three days he will rise again."

²² and he said, "The Son of man must suffer much, and be restricted by the elders and high priests and scribes and be put to death, and on the third day be raised again."

⁵¹ When now when the time drew near for him to be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,

⁶ "He is not here; he is risen. Do you remember how he told you when he was still in Galilee ⁷ that the Son of man had to be betrayed into the hands of sinful men, and to be crucified, and to rise on the third day?"

⁴⁴ Then he said to them, "These are my words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, how all things must be fulfilled which are written in the Law of Moses, and the prophets, and the Psalms concerning me." ⁴⁵ Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, ⁴⁶ and he said: "Thus it is written that the Christ should suffer and rise again from the dead, the third day;
