¹⁴ And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up,

⁵⁴ "But if I did, how could the Scriptures be fulfilled that say that thus it must happen?"

²⁸ so Jesus added. "When you lifted up the Son of man, then you will know that I am He; and that I do nothing on my own authority, but that I speak just as the Father has taught me,

³² "AND I, IF I BE LIFTED UP FROM THE EARTH, WILL DRAW ALL MEN UNTO MYSELF." ³³ (In saying this he was signifying by what kind of death he was to die.) ³⁴ Then the people answered. "We have heard out of the Law that the Christ abides forever. What do you mean by 'The Son of man must be lifted up'? Who is this Son of man?"
