²⁹ Because of your temple at Jerusalem kings will bring presents to you.

¹⁰ And she gave the king a hundred and twenty talants of gold and of spices a very great store and precious stones. There came no more such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.

²⁴ And all the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart. ²⁵ And every man brought his tribute, vessels of silver and vessels of gold and garments and armor and spices, horses and mules, a rate year by year.

⁴ Go and tell David my servant, Jehovah says thus, You will not build for me a house to dwell in. ⁵ For I have not dwelt in a house since the day that I brought up Israel, to this day, but have gone from tent to tent and from one tabernacle to another. ⁶ In all places in which I have walked with all Israel, did I speak a word with any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to be shepherd of my people, saying, Why have you* not built for me a house of cedar?
⁷ Now therefore thus you will say to my servant David, Jehovah of hosts says thus, I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, that you should be prince over my people Israel. ⁸ And I have been with you wherever you have gone and have cut off all your enemies from before you. And I will make you a name like the name of the great ones who are on the earth.
⁹ And I will appoint a place for my people Israel and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place and be moved no more. Neither will the sons of wickedness waste them any more, as at the first, ¹⁰ and as from the day that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. And I will subdue all your enemies.
Moreover I tell you that Jehovah will build for you a house. ¹¹ And it will happen, when your days are fulfilled that you must go to be with your fathers, that I will set up your seed after you, who will be of your sons. And I will establish his kingdom.
¹² He will build for me a house and I will establish his throne everlasting.

⁷ And David said to Solomon his son, As for me, it was in my heart to build a house to the name of Jehovah my God.
⁸ But the word of Jehovah came to me, saying, You have shed blood abundantly and have made great wars. You will not build a house to my name because you have shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.
⁹ Behold, a son will be born to you, who will be a man of rest. And I will give him rest from all his enemies all around, for his name will be Solomon. And I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days. ¹⁰ He will build a house for my name. And he will be my son and I will be his father and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel until everlasting.
¹¹ Now, my son, Jehovah be with you and prosper you and build the house of Jehovah your God as he has spoken concerning you.

¹⁰ Take heed now, for Jehovah has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary. Be strong and do it.
¹¹ Then David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the porch of the temple and of the houses of it and of the treasuries of it and of the upper rooms of it and of the inner chambers of it and of the place of the mercy-seat, ¹² and the pattern of all that he had by the Spirit, for the courts of the house of Jehovah and for all the chambers all around, for the treasuries of the house of God and for the treasuries of the dedicated things, ¹³ also for the divisions of the priests and the Levites and for all the work of the service of the house of Jehovah and for all the vessels of service in the house of Jehovah, ¹⁴ of gold by weight for the vessels of gold, for all vessels of every kind of service; of silver for all the vessels of silver by weight, for all vessels of every kind of service, ¹⁵ by weight also for the lamp-stands of gold and for the lamps of it, of gold, by weight for every lamp-stand and for the lamps of it and for the lamp-stands of silver, silver by weight for every lamp-stand and for the lamps of it, according to the use of every lamp-stand, ¹⁶ and the gold by weight for the tables of showbread, for every table and silver for the tables of silver, ¹⁷ and the forks and the basins and the cups, of pure gold and for the golden bowls by weight for every bowl and for the silver bowls by weight for every bowl, ¹⁸ and for the altar of incense refined gold by weight and gold for the pattern of the chariot, even the cherubim that spread out their wings and covered the ark of the covenant of Jehovah.
¹⁹ All this, David said, I have been made to understand in writing from the hand of Jehovah, even all the works of this pattern.
²⁰ And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage and do it. Do not fear, nor be dismayed, for Jehovah God, even my God, is with you. He will not fail you, nor forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of Jehovah be finished. ²¹ And behold, there are the courses of the priests and the Levites for all the service of the house of God. And there will be with you in all manner of work every willing man who has skill, for any manner of service. Also the captains and all the people will be entirely at your commandment.

³ Moreover also, because I have set my affection on the house of my God, seeing that I have a treasure of my own of gold and silver, I give it to the house of my God over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house,

⁵ And the house which I build is great. For our God is great above all gods. ⁶ But who is able to build for him a house, seeing heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain him? Who am I then, that I should build for him a house, except only to burn incense before him?

⁸ But Jehovah said to David my father, Because it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you did well that it was in your heart. ⁹ Nevertheless you will not build the house, but your son who will come forth out of your loins, he will build the house for my name.

²³ And many brought gifts to Jehovah to Jerusalem and precious things to Hezekiah king of Judah. So that he was exalted in the sight of all nations from thereafter.

³³ And Hezekiah slept with his fathers and they buried him in the ascent of the sepulchers of the sons of David. And all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem honored him at his death. And Manasseh his son reigned instead of him.

¹³ I make a decree, that all those of the people of Israel and their priests and the Levites, in my realm, who are minded of their own free will to go to Jerusalem, go with you. ¹⁴ Forasmuch as you are sent from the king and his seven counselors, to inquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of your God which is in your hand, ¹⁵ and to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counselors have freely offered to the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem, ¹⁶ and all the silver and gold that you will find in all the province of Babylon, with the free-will offering of the people and of the priests, offering willingly, for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem.
¹⁷ Therefore you will with all diligence buy with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their meal offerings and their drink offerings and will offer them upon the altar of the house of your* God which is in Jerusalem. ¹⁸ And whatever will seem good to you and to your brothers to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do you* it after the will of your* God. ¹⁹ And the vessels that are given you for the service of the house of your God, deliver before the God of Jerusalem. ²⁰ And whatever more will be needful for the house of your God, which you will have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king's treasure-house. ²¹ And I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers who are beyond the River, that whatever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, will require of you*, it is done with all diligence, ²² to a hundred talants of silver and to a hundred measures of wheat and to a hundred baths of wine and to a hundred baths of oil and salt without prescribing how much.
²³ Whatever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be done exactly for the house of the God of heaven; for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons? ²⁴ Also we certify to you*, that concerning any of the priests and Levites, the singers, gatekeepers, Nethinim, or servants of this house of God, it will not be lawful to impose tribute, custom, or toll, upon them.
²⁵ And you, Ezra, according to the wisdom of your God, that is in your hand, appoint magistrates and judges, who may judge all the people who are beyond the River, all such as know the laws of your God. And you* teach him who does not know them. ²⁶ And whoever will not do the law of your God and the law of the king, let judgment be executed upon him with all diligence, whether it is to death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.
²⁷ Praise Jehovah, the God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of Jehovah which is in Jerusalem, ²⁸ and has extended loving kindness to me before the king and his counselors and before all the king's mighty rulers. And I was strengthened according to the hand of Jehovah my God upon me and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.

⁸ and a letter to Asaph the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the castle which is for the palace and for the wall of the city and for the house that I will enter into. And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me.

¹² And the daughter of Tyre will adore him with a gift. The rich among the people will entreat your favor.

¹⁰ The kings of Tarshish and of the isles will render tribute. The kings of Sheba and Seba will offer gifts. ¹¹ Yes, all kings will fall down before him. All nations will serve him.

¹¹ Vow and pay to Jehovah your* God. Let all who are all around him bring presents to him who ought to be feared.

⁷ In that time a present will be brought to Jehovah of hosts from a people tall and smooth, even from a people fearful from their beginning onward, a nation mighty and tramples down, whose land the rivers divide, to the place of the name of Jehovah of hosts, the Mount Zion.

⁶ The multitude of camels will cover you. The dromedaries of Midian and Ephah, all those from Sheba will come. They will bring gold and frankincense and will proclaim the praises of Jehovah. ⁷ All the flocks of Kedar will be gathered together to you. The rams of Nebaioth will minister to you. They will come up with acceptance on my altar and I will glorify the house of my glory.
⁸ Who are these that fly as a cloud and as the doves to their windows? ⁹ Surely the isles will wait for me and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring your sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, for the name of Jehovah your God and for the Holy One of Israel, because he has glorified you. ¹⁰ And foreigners will build up your walls and their kings will minister to you. For in my wrath I killed* you, but in my favor I have had mercy on you. ¹¹ Your gates also will be open continually. They will not be shut day nor night, that men may bring to you the wealth of the nations and their kings led captive.

¹⁶ You will also suck the milk of the nations and will suck the breast of kings. And you will know that I, Jehovah, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob. ¹⁷ For brass I will bring gold and for iron I will bring silver and for wood brass and for stones iron. I will also make your officers peace and your overseers righteousness.
