³ And Israel joined himself to Baal-peor and the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Israel.

⁵ And Moses said to the judges of Israel, Kill you* every one his men who have joined themselves to Baal-peor.

³ Your* eyes have seen what Jehovah did because of Baal-peor. For all the men who followed Baal-peor, Jehovah your God has destroyed them from the midst of you. ⁴ But you* who clung to Jehovah your* God are alive every one of you* this day.

¹⁷ Is the iniquity of Peor too little for us, from which we have not cleansed ourselves to this day, although there came a plague upon the congregation of Jehovah,

¹⁴ And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Israel and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that despoiled them. And he sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.

²⁰ And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Israel and he said, Because this nation has transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers and has not listened to my voice,

¹¹ Who knows the power of your anger and your wrath according to the fear that is due to you?

²⁸ They also joined themselves to Baal of Peor and ate the sacrifices of the dead. ²⁹ Thus they provoked him to anger with their practices and the plague broke in upon them.

⁴ And you, even of yourself, will discontinue from your heritage that I gave you and I will cause you to serve your enemies in the land which you do not know. For you* have kindled a fire in my anger which will burn everlasting.

¹⁰ I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness. I saw your* fathers as the first ripe in the fig tree at its first season. But they came to Baal-peor and consecrated themselves to the shameful thing and became abominable like what they loved.
