² And all the sons of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron. And the whole congregation said to them, Would that we had died in the land of Egypt, or would that we had died in this wilderness!

²⁴ And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What will we drink?

² And the whole congregation of the sons of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness. ³ And the sons of Israel said to them, Would that we had died by the hand of Jehovah in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full, because you* have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.

³ And the people thirsted there for water. And the people murmured against Moses and said, Why have you brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our sons and our cattle with thirst?

¹ And the people were as complainers, speaking evil in the ears of Jehovah. And when Jehovah heard it, his anger was kindled and the fire of Jehovah burnt among them and devoured in the outermost part of the camp.

¹⁵ And if you deal thus with me, I beseech you, kill me out of hand, if I have found favor in your sight and do not let me see my wretchedness.

²⁷ How long shall I bear with this evil congregation that murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the sons of Israel, which they murmur against me. ²⁸ Say to them, As I live, says Jehovah, surely as you* have spoken in my ears, so will I do to you*. ²⁹ Your* dead bodies will fall in this wilderness. And all who were numbered of you*, according to your* whole number, from twenty years old and upward, who have murmured against me,

⁴¹ But on the morrow all the congregation of the sons of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, You* have killed the people of Jehovah.

²⁷ And you* murmured in your* tents and said, Because Jehovah hated us, he has brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.

⁴ But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a juniper tree. And he requested for himself that he might die and said, It is enough, now, O Jehovah, take away my life, for I am no better than my fathers.

¹¹ Why did I not die from the womb? Why did I not give up the spirit when my mother bore me?

¹⁵ so that my soul chooses strangling and death rather than these my bones. ¹⁶ I loathe my life. I would not live everlasting. Let me alone, for my days are vanity.

²⁴ Yes, they despised the desirable land. They did not believe his word,

⁴⁵ And he remembered his covenant for them and relented according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.

³ Therefore now, O Jehovah, I beseech you, take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live.

⁸ And it happened, when the sun arose, that God prepared a sultry east wind and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted and requested for himself that he might die and said, It is better for me to die than to live.

¹⁰ Nor murmur, like some of them also murmured, and perished by the destroyer.

¹⁴ Do all things without murmurings and questionings, ¹⁵ in order that you might become blameless and harmless children of God, flawless in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as illuminations in the world.

¹⁶ These men are murmurers, complainers, conducting-themselves according to their lusts and their mouth is speaking flattering-words, admiring faces because of profit.
