¹³ And Moses said to Jehovah, Then the Egyptians will hear it, for you brought up this people in your might from among them,

¹¹ And Moses besought Jehovah his God and said, Jehovah, why does your wrath grow hot against your people, whom you have brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand? ¹² Why should the Egyptians speak, saying, He brought them forth for evil, to kill them on the mountains and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from your fierce wrath and relent of this evil against your people.
¹³ Remember Abraham, Isaac and Israel, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self and said to them, I will multiply your* seed as the stars of heaven. And all this land that I have spoken of I will give to your* seed and they will inherit it everlasting.
¹⁴ And Jehovah relented of the evil which he said he would do to his people.

²⁶ And I prayed to Jehovah and said, O lord Jehovah, destroy not your people and your inheritance, that you have redeemed through your greatness, that you have brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
²⁷ Remember your servants, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Do not look to the stubbornness of this people, nor to their profaneness, nor to their sin, ²⁸ lest the land from where you brought us out say, Because Jehovah was not able to bring them into the land which he promised to them and because he hated them, he has brought them out to kill them in the wilderness.

²⁷ were it not that I feared the provocation of the enemy, lest their adversaries should recognize, lest they should say, Our hand is exalted and Jehovah has not done all this.

⁸ Oh, Lord, what shall I say after Israel has turned their backs before their enemies! ⁹ For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of it and will encompass us around and cut off our name from the earth and what will you do for your great name?

²³ Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy.
