¹³ You* also say, Behold, what a weariness it is! And you* have sniffed at it, says Jehovah of hosts. And you* have brought what was taken by violence and the lame and the sick. Thus you* bring the offering.
Should I accept this at your* hand? says Jehovah.

⁸ What dies of itself, or is torn by beasts, he will not eat to defile himself with it. I am Jehovah.

¹⁹ that you* may be accepted, you* will offer a male without blemish, of the bullocks, of the sheep, or of the goats.
²⁰ But whatever has a blemish, that you* will not offer, for it will not be acceptable for you*. ²¹ And whoever offers a sacrifice of peace offerings to Jehovah to accomplish a vow, or for a free-will offering, of the herd or of the flock, it will be perfect to be accepted; there will be no blemish in it. ²² Blind, or broken, or maimed, or having a skin tumor, or scurvy, or scabbed, you* will not offer these to Jehovah, nor make an offering by fire of them upon the altar to Jehovah. ²³ Either a bullock or a lamb that has anything superfluous or lacking in his parts, that you may offer for a free-will offering, but it will not be accepted for a vow.

²¹ And if it has any blemish, as lame or blind, any ill blemish whatever, you will not sacrifice it to Jehovah your God.

²⁹ Why do you* kick at my sacrifice and at my offering, which I have commanded in my habitation and honor your sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chief of all the offerings of Israel my people?

¹² When you* come to appear before me, who has required this at your* hand–to trample my courts?

²² Yet you have not called upon me, O Jacob, but you have been weary of me, O Israel. ²³ You have not brought me from your sheep for burnt offerings, nor have you honored me with your sacrifices. I have not burdened you with offerings, nor wearied you with frankincense.

⁶ Among the smooth stones of the valley is your portion. They, they are your lot, even to them you have poured a drink offering; you have offered an oblation. Shall I be appeased for these things?

⁹ Will you* steal, murder and commit adultery and swear falsely and burn incense to Baal and walk after other gods that you* have not known, ¹⁰ and then come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name and say, We are delivered, that you* may do all these abominations?
¹¹ Has this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your* eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen it, says Jehovah.

²¹ Jehovah of hosts says thus, the God of Israel: Add your* burnt offerings to your* sacrifices and eat you* flesh. ²² For I spoke not to your* fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices.
²³ But this thing I commanded them, saying, Listen to my voice and I will be your* God and you* will be my people. And walk you* in all the way that I command you*, that it may be well with you*. ²⁴ But they listened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in their own counsels, in the stubbornness of their evil heart and went backward and not forward.

¹⁴ Then I said, Ah lord Jehovah! Behold, my soul has not been polluted. For from my youth up even till now I have not eaten of what dies of itself, or is torn of beasts, neither has abominable flesh come into my mouth.

³¹ The priests will not eat of anything that dies of itself, or is torn, whether it is bird or beast.

²¹ I hate, I despise your* feasts and I will take no delight in your* solemn assemblies. ²² Yes, though you* offer me your* burnt offerings and meal offerings, I will not accept them, nor will I regard the peace offerings of your* fat beasts. ²³ You take away from me the noise of your songs, for I will not hear the melody of your viols.

⁵ saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small and the shekel great and dealing falsely with balances of deceit,

³ O my people, what have I done to you? And in what have I wearied you? Testify against me.

⁵ Speak to all the people of the land and to the priests, saying, When you* fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month, even these seventy years, did you* at all fast to me, even to me? ⁶ And when you* eat and when you* drink, do you* not eat for yourselves and drink for yourselves?

⁷ You* offer polluted bread upon my altar. And you* say, How have we polluted you? In that you* say, The table of Jehovah is contemptible.
⁸ And when you* offer the blind for sacrifice, you* say, It is no evil! and when you* offer the lame and sick, It is no evil! Present it now to your governor. Will he be pleased with you, or will he accept your person? says Jehovah of hosts.

¹³ And this again you* do: You* cover the altar of Jehovah with tears, with weeping and with sighing, insomuch that he does not regard the offering any more, nor receives it with good will at your* hand.

¹ Take-heed not to do your charity before men, to be seen by them, otherwise you have no reward from your Father, the one in the heavens.
² Therefore, whenever you are doing charity, do not sound a trumpet before you just-like the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the lanes, that they may be glorified by men. Assuredly I am saying to you, They are having their reward.

⁵ And whenever you pray, do not be just-like the hypocrites, because they love to pray, standing in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may appear devout to men. Assuredly I am say to you, that they are having their reward.

¹⁶ Now whenever you fast, do not become just-like the hypocrites, with a gloomy face; for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly I am saying to you, They are having their reward.

⁴ But there were some being indignant to themselves, and saying, For what purpose has the waste of the perfume happened? ⁵ For this perfume was able to have been sold for above three hundred denarii and given to the poor. And they were scolding her.

³⁷ And he comes and finds them sleeping, and says to Peter, Simon, do you sleep? Were you not strong-enough to watch one hour? ³⁸ Watch and pray, in order that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit is indeed eager, but the flesh is weak.
