²³ And God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men of Shechem and the men of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech,

¹⁵ And the bramble said to the trees, If in truth you* anoint me king over you*, then come and take refuge in my shade and if not, let fire come out of the bramble and devour the cedars of Lebanon.
¹⁶ Now therefore, if you* have dealt truly and uprightly, in that you* have made Abimelech king and if you* have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house and have done to him according to the deed of his hands

²⁰ But if not, let fire come out from Abimelech and devour the men of Shechem and Beth-millo and devour Abimelech.

¹⁴ Now the Spirit of Jehovah departed from Saul and an evil spirit from Jehovah troubled him. ¹⁵ And Saul's servants said to him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubles you. ¹⁶ Let our lord now command your servants, who are before you, to seek out a man who is a skillful player on the harp. And it will happen, when the evil spirit from God is upon you, that he will play with his hand and you will be well.

⁹ And Saul eyed David from that day and forward.
¹⁰ And it happened on the morrow, that an evil spirit from God came mightily upon Saul and he prophesied in the midst of the house. And David played with his hand, as he did day by day and Saul had his spear in his hand.

¹⁵ So the king did not listen to the people, for it was a thing brought about by Jehovah, that he might establish his word, which Jehovah spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

²² And Jehovah said to him, With what? And he said, I will go forth and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, You will entice him and will also prevail. Go forth and do so. ²³ Now therefore, behold, Jehovah has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets and Jehovah has spoken evil concerning you.

¹⁵ So the king did not listen to the people. For it was brought about by God, that Jehovah might establish his word, which he spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

¹⁹ And Jehovah said, Who will entice Ahab King of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one spoke saying after this manner and another saying after that manner.
²⁰ And there came out a spirit and stood before Jehovah and said, I will entice him. And Jehovah said to him, With what? ²¹ And he said, I will go forth and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, You will entice him and will also prevail. Go forth and do so.
²² Now therefore, behold, Jehovah has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets. And Jehovah has spoken evil concerning you.

² And I will stir up the Egyptians against the Egyptians and they will fight each one against his brother and each one against his neighbor, city against city, kingdom against kingdom.

¹⁴ Jehovah has mingled a spirit of perverseness in the midst of her and they have made Egypt go-astray in every work of it, as a drunken man wanders around in his vomit.

¹ Woe to you who destroys and you were not destroyed and deal treacherously and they did not deal treacherously with you! When you have ceased to destroy, you will be destroyed and when you have made an end of dealing treacherously, they will deal treacherously with you.

² For in what judgment you judge, you will be judged and in what measure you measure, it will be measured to you.

¹¹ And because of this, God will be sending them a working of error, that they may believe in the lie; ¹² in order that they all might be judged who did not believe the truth, but were delighted in unrighteousness.
