Numbers 27:16-21

16 Let Jehovah, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation, 17 who may go out before them and who may come in before them and who may lead them out and who may bring them in, that the congregation of Jehovah is not as sheep which have no shepherd.

Deuteronomy 3:28

28 But charge Joshua and encourage him and strengthen him, for he will go over before this people and he will cause them to inherit the land which you will see.

Deuteronomy 31:7

7 And Moses called to Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of good courage. For you will go with this people into the land which Jehovah has sworn to their fathers to give them and you will cause them to inherit it.
