¹ And passing by, he saw a man blind from his birth. ² And his disciples asked him, saying, Rabbi, who sinned, this one or his parents, that he should be born blind?
³ Jesus answered, Neither did this one sin, nor his parents, but in order that the works of God should be manifest in him. ⁴ It is essential for me to work the works of the one who sent me, while it is day. The night is coming, when no one is able to work. ⁵ Whenever I am in the world, I am the light of the world. ⁶ Having said these things, he spits on the level-ground and made clay from the spit and anointed the clay on the eyes of the blind man, ⁷ and said to him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam (which is by translation, Sent). Therefore, he went away and washed and came back seeing.
⁸ Therefore the neighbors and those viewing him beforehand, that he was blind, were saying, Is this one not the one, sitting and begging earlier? ⁹ Others were saying, It is he. But others said, He is similar to him.
That man said, I am he.
¹⁰ Therefore they were saying to him, How were your eyes opened?
¹¹ That man answered and said, A man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, Go to the pool of Siloam and wash. And I went away and washed and I recovered my sight.
¹² Therefore they said to him, Where is that man?
He says, I do not know.
¹³ They lead him to the Pharisees, the previously blind one. ¹⁴ Now it was the Sabbath when Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes. ¹⁵ Therefore, again the Pharisees were also asking him how he recovered his sight.
Now he said to them, He placed clay upon my eyes and I washed and I can see.
¹⁶ Therefore, some out of the Pharisees were saying, This man is not from God, because he is not keeping the Sabbath.
Others said, How is a man, a sinner, able to do such signs? And there was a split among them. ¹⁷ They say to the blind man again, What do you say concerning him, in that he opened your eyes?
Now he said, He is a prophet.
¹⁸ Therefore the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he was blind and had recovered his sight, until which time they summoned the parents of the one who had recovered his sight, ¹⁹ and asked them, saying, Is this your son, who you say was born blind? Therefore how does he see now?
²⁰ But his parents answered and said, We know that this is our son and that he was born blind; ²¹ but how he can now see, we do not know; or who opened his eyes, we do not know. He has come of age; ask him; he will be speaking concerning himself. ²² His parents said these things, because they feared the Jews; for the Jews, themselves, had covenanted already, in order that if anyone confesses him as Christ, he should become expelled from the synagogue. ²³ Because of this, his parents said, He has come of age; ask him.
²⁴ So they summoned the man who was blind a second-time and said to him, Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner.
²⁵ Therefore that man answered and said, I do not know if he is a sinner. I know one thing, that I was blind, but now I can see.
²⁶ But they said to him again, What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?
²⁷ He answered them, I spoke to you already and you did not hear; why are you wishing to hear it again? Do you wish also to become his disciples?
²⁸ They reviled him and said, You are a disciple of that man, but we are disciples of Moses. ²⁹ We know that God has spoken to Moses, but this one, we do not know where he is from.
³⁰ The man answered and said to them, For a marvelous thing is in this, because you do not know where he is from and yet he opened my eyes. ³¹ But we know that God does not hear sinners, but if anyone is God-fearing and if he is practicing his will, he hears him. ³² It has not been heard from the beginning of the world, that anyone has opened the eyes of one who had been born blind. ³³ If this one was not from God, he would be unable to do anything.
³⁴ They answered and said to him, You were born entirely in sins and you are teaching us! And they cast him outside.
³⁵ Jesus heard that they had cast him outside, and having found him, he said to him, Do you believe in the Son of God?
³⁶ That man answered and said, Who is he, Lord, in order that I should believe in him?
³⁷ Now Jesus said to him, You have both seen him and he who speaks with you is that man.
³⁸ But he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshiped him.
³⁹ And Jesus said, I came into this world for judgment, in order that those who do not see, may see, and those who see, may become blind.
⁴⁰ And those who were with him from the Pharisees heard these things and said to him, We are not also blind, are we?
⁴¹ Jesus said to them, If you were blind, you would have no sin, but now you say, We see, therefore your sin remains.

⁵ You will not bow down yourself to them, nor serve them, because I, Jehovah your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons, upon the third and upon the fourth generation of those who hate me,

¹⁴ Now they said, Some say John the Immerser; others, Elijah, and others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.

⁷ and the greetings in the marketplaces and to be called by men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

² And Jesus answered and said to them, Do you think that these Galileans became sinners more than all the other Galileans, because they have suffered such things?

³⁴ They answered and said to him, You were born entirely in sins and you are teaching us! And they cast him outside.

⁴ Now as the barbarians saw the snake hanging from his hand, they were saying to one another, This man is certainly a murderer, whom, having been saved out of the sea, justice did not permit him to live.

⁸ And Jehovah said to Satan, Have you considered my servant Job? For there is none like him on the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one who fears God and turns away from evil. ⁹ Then Satan answered Jehovah and said, Does Job fear God for nothing? ¹⁰ Have you not made a hedge on every side on behalf of him and his house and all that he has? You have blessed the work of his hands and his substance is increased in the land. ¹¹ But put forth your hand now and touch all that he has and he will renounce you to your face. ¹² And Jehovah said to Satan, Behold, all that he has is in your power, only upon himself do not put forth your hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of Jehovah.

³ And Jehovah said to Satan, Have you considered my servant Job? For there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one who fears God and turns away from evil. And he still holds fast his integrity, although you moved me against him, to destroy him without cause.
⁴ And Satan answered Jehovah and said, Skin for skin, yes, all that a man has he will give for his life. ⁵ But put forth your hand now and touch his bone and his flesh and he will renounce you to your face. ⁶ And Jehovah said to Satan, Behold, he is in your hand, only spare his life.

²⁷ Behold, I know your* thoughts and the devices with which you* would wrong me.

⁵ Is not your wickedness great? Neither is there any end to your iniquities. ⁶ For you have taken pledges from your brother for nothing and stripped the naked of their clothing. ⁷ You have not given water to the weary to drink and you have withheld bread from the hungry. ⁸ But as for the mighty man, he had the land. And the honorable man, he dwelt in it. ⁹ You have sent widows away empty and the arms of the fatherless have been broken. ¹⁰ Therefore snares are all around you and sudden fear troubles you, ¹¹ or darkness, so that you cannot see and abundance of waters cover you.
¹² Is not God in the height of heaven? And behold the height of the stars, how high they are! ¹³ And you say, What does God know? Can he judge through the thick darkness? ¹⁴ Thick clouds are a covering to him, so that he does not see and he walks on the vault of heaven.
¹⁵ Will you keep the old way which wicked men have trodden? ¹⁶ Who were snatched away before their time, whose foundation was poured out as a stream, ¹⁷ who said to God, Depart from us, and What can the Almighty do for us? ¹⁸ Yet he filled their houses with good things. But the counsel of the wicked is far from me. ¹⁹ The righteous see it and are glad. And the innocent laugh them to scorn, ²⁰ saying, Surely those who rose up against us are cut off and the remnant of them, the fire has consumed.
²¹ Acquaint now yourself with him and be at peace. By this good will come to you. ²² I beseech you, receive the law from his mouth and lay up his words in your heart. ²³ If you return to the Almighty, you will be built up, you put away unrighteousness far from your tents. ²⁴ Then you will lay up gold as dust and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks. ²⁵ Yes, the Almighty will be your treasure and precious silver to you. ²⁶ For then will you delight yourself in the Almighty and will lift up your face to God.
²⁷ You will make your prayer to him and he will hear you and you will pay your vows. ²⁸ You will also decree a thing and it will be established to you. And light will shine upon your ways.
²⁹ When they cast you down, you will say, There is lifting up and he will save the humble man. ³⁰ He will deliver even him who is not innocent. Yes, he will be delivered through the cleanness of your hands.

³ His anger was also kindled against his three friends because they had found no answer and yet had condemned Job.

⁷ And it was so, that, after Jehovah had spoken these words to Job, Jehovah said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against you and against your two friends. For you* have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job has.

¹ This I laid to my heart for all, even to explore all this, that the righteous and the wise and their works, are in the hand of God. No man understands, either love or hatred. All is before them.
² All things come alike to all. There is one event to the righteous man and to the wicked man, to the good man and to the clean man and to the unclean man, to him who sacrifices and to him who does not sacrifice, as is the good man, so is the sinner and he who swears, as he who fears an oath.

⁵ the blind recover their sight and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised and the poor have the good-news proclaimed to them.

² And Jesus answered and said to them, Do you think that these Galileans became sinners more than all the other Galileans, because they have suffered such things? ³ I am saying to you, No, but, if you do not repent, you will all likewise perish. ⁴ Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed, do you think that those became debtors more than all other men who are dwelling in Jerusalem? ⁵ I am saying to you, No, but, if you do not repent, you will all likewise perish.

⁴ But when Jesus heard it, he said, This sickness is not to death, but on behalf of the glory of God, in order that the Son of God may be glorified through it.

⁴⁰ Jesus says to her, Did I not say to you, that, if you believed, you will be seeing the glory of God?

¹¹ Either believe me, that I am in the Father and the Father in me, otherwise believe me because of the works themselves. ¹² Assuredly, assuredly, I am saying to you, He who believes in me, the works which I am doing, he will also be doing, and he will be doing greater works than these, because I am traveling on to my Father. ¹³ And if you ask anything in my name, I will do this, in order that the Father might be glorified in the Son.

²¹ But having additionally threatened them, they released them, finding nothing as to how they will punish them, because of the people, because all were glorifying God for what has happened.

¹⁰ Whatever your hand finds to do, do with your might, because there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in Sheol, where you go.

¹⁸ For Sheol cannot praise you, death cannot celebrate you. Those who go down into the pit cannot hope for your truth.
¹⁹ The living, the living, he will praise you, as I do this day. The father to the sons will make known your truth.

³² And he said to them, Travel to and say to that fox, Behold, I cast out demons and perform healings today and the next-day and I am completed in the third day. ³³ However it is essential for me to travel on today and the next-day and in the next day, because it is not acceptable for a prophet to perish outside of Jerusalem.


³⁴ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who have been sent to her! How-often I wished to have gathered together your children in the manner a bird gathers together her own brood under her wings, and you did not wish for it!

³⁴ Jesus says to them, My food is that I should be doing the will of the one who sent me, and should complete his work.

¹⁹ Therefore, Jesus answered and said to them, Assuredly, assuredly, I am saying to you, The Son is not able to do anything from himself, if he does not see what the Father is doing; for whatever things which he does, the Son is also doing these things likewise.

³⁶ But the testimony which I have is greater than John’s; for the works which the Father gave to me, in order that I should complete, these same works which I am doing, testify concerning me, that the Father has sent me.

³² Jesus answered them, I have showed you many good works from my Father, because of what work from those do you stone me?

³⁷ If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe in me.

⁹ Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he is not stumbling, because he sees the light of this world. ¹⁰ But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.

³⁵ Therefore Jesus said to them, The light is still with you for a little time. Walk while you have the light, in order that darkness might not overtake you and he who is walking in the darkness does not know where he is going.

⁴ I glorified you upon the earth. I completed the work which you have given me, that I should be doing.

²⁰ For we are not able to speak, but the things which we saw and heard.

¹⁰ Therefore consequently, as we have opportunity, we should work what is the good thing toward all men but especially in the household of the faith.

¹⁶ buying up the time, because the days are evil.

⁵ Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, buying up the time.

⁶ I, Jehovah, have called you in righteousness and will hold your hand and will keep you and give you for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles, ⁷ to open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon and those who sit in darkness out of the prison-house.

⁶ yes, he says, It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved of Israel. I will also give you for a light to the Gentiles, that you may be my salvation to the end of the earth.

¹ Arise, shine, for your light has come and the glory of Jehovah has risen upon you. ² For, behold, darkness will cover the earth and gross darkness the peoples. But Jehovah will arise upon you and his glory will be seen upon you. ³ And nations will come to your light and kings to the brightness of your rising.

² But to you* who fear my name the sun of righteousness will arise with healing in its wings and you* will go forth and frolic as calves of the stall.

¹⁶ the people who sit in darkness saw a great light and to those who sit in the region and shadow of death, light has risen for them.’

³² He is a light for revelation of the Gentiles and the glory of your people Israel.

⁴ In him was life, and the life was the light of men. ⁵ And the light is appearing in the darkness, and the darkness did not overtake it.
⁶ It happened that a man came, having been sent from God, and his name was John. ⁷ This one came to be a witness, in order that he might testify concerning the light, in order that all should believe through him. ⁸ He was not the light, but came in order that he might testify concerning the light.
⁹ He was the true light coming into the world, the light which illuminates every man.

¹⁹ Now this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil. ²⁰ For everyone who is practicing evil, hates the light, and is not coming to the light, in order that his works should not convict him. ²¹ But he who practices the truth comes to the light, in order that his works should be manifest, that they have been worked in God.

¹² Therefore, again Jesus spoke to them, saying, I am the light of the world. He who is following me may never walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.

³⁵ Therefore Jesus said to them, The light is still with you for a little time. Walk while you have the light, in order that darkness might not overtake you and he who is walking in the darkness does not know where he is going. ³⁶ While you have the light, believe in the light, in order that you might become sons of light.
Jesus spoke these things and he went away and hid himself from them.

⁴⁶ I have come like a light into the world, in order that everyone who believes in me may not remain in the darkness.

⁴⁷ For so the Lord has commanded to us, saying, ‘I have placed you for a light of the Gentiles, that you should be for salvation to the outermost parts of the earth.’

¹⁸ to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light, and from the authority of the Adversary to God, in order for them to receive forgiveness of sins, and an inheritance among those who have been made holy in faith, the faith in me.

²³ If the Christ was ordained to suffer, if the Christ was first from the resurrection of the dead, then he is about to proclaim light to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles.

¹⁴ Hence he says, Arise, you who are sleeping and rise up from the dead and the Christ will appear upon you.

²³ And the city has no need of the sun, neither of the moon, in order that they should appear in it; for the glory of God illuminated it and its lamp is the Lamb.

³³ And having taken him away from the crowd privately, he put his fingers into his ears, and he spits, and touched his tongue;

²³ And grabbing the blind man by the hand, he led him outside the village, and having spit into his eyes and laid his hands upon him, he asked him if he sees anything.

¹⁸ I am counseling together with you to buy gold from me, having been refined out of fire, in order that you may be enriched, and in order that you should dress yourself with white garments and in order that the shame of your nakedness should not be manifested to all, and in order that you may anoint your eyes with eye-salve, in order that you may see.

¹¹ And Jehovah said to him, Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes a man dumb, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, Jehovah?

¹⁰ And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, Go and wash in the Jordan seven times and your flesh will come again to you and you will be clean.
¹¹ But Naaman was angry and went away and said, Behold, I thought he will surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of Jehovah his God and wave his hand over the place and heal the leper. ¹² Are not Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? May I not wash in them and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.
¹³ And his servants came near and spoke to him and said, My father, if the prophet had bid you do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much rather then, when he says to you, Wash and be clean? ¹⁴ Then went he down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God. And his flesh came again like the flesh of a little child and he was clean.

¹⁵ And Shallun the son of Col-hozeh, the ruler of the district of Mizpah, repaired the fountain gate. He built it and covered it and set up the doors of it, the bolts of it and the bars of it and the wall of the pool of Shelah by the king's garden, even to the stairs that go down from the city of David.

⁸ Jehovah opens the eyes of the blind. Jehovah raises up those who are bowed down. Jehovah loves the righteous.

⁶ Inasmuch as this people have refused the waters of Shiloah that go softly and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah's son,

¹⁸ And in that day the deaf will hear the words of the book and the eyes of the blind will see out of obscurity and out of darkness. ¹⁹ The meek also will increase their joy in Jehovah and the poor among men will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

³ And the eyes of those who see will not be dim and the ears of those who hear will listen.

⁵ Then the eyes of the blind will be opened and the ears of the deaf will be unstopped.

⁷ to open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon and those who sit in darkness out of the prison-house.

¹⁶ And I will bring the blind by a way that they do not know. I will lead them in paths that they do not know. I will make darkness light before them and crooked places straight. These things I will do and I will not forsake them.
¹⁷ They will be turned back, they will be utterly put to shame, who trust in graven images, who say to molten images, You* are our gods.
¹⁸ Hear, you* deaf and look, you* blind, that you* may see.

⁸ Bring forth the blind people who have eyes and the deaf who have ears.

⁴ Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed, do you think that those became debtors more than all other men who are dwelling in Jerusalem?

¹¹ That man answered and said, A man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, Go to the pool of Siloam and wash. And I went away and washed and I recovered my sight.

³⁹ And Jesus said, I came into this world for judgment, in order that those who do not see, may see, and those who see, may become blind.

³⁶ do you say of him, whom the Father made holy and sent into the world, You blaspheme, because I said, I am the Son of God?

³⁷ But some out of them said, Was this one, who opened the eyes of the blind man, not able to do something in order that this one might not have even died?

³ For the law being powerless, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, having sent his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin, condemned sin in the flesh;

⁴ But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth his Son, born out of a woman, born under the law,

¹⁹ So those two went until they came to Bethlehem. And it happened, when they came to Bethlehem, that all the city was moved about them and the women said, Is this Naomi?

⁸ He raises up the poor out of the dust, he lifts up the needy from the dunghill, to make them sit with rulers and inherit the throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth are Jehovah's and he has set the world upon them.

¹¹ And the servants of Achish said to him, Is not this David the king of the land? Did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying, Saul has slain his thousands and David his ten thousands?

⁴⁶ And they come into Jericho, and while traveling from Jericho with his disciples and a considerable crowd, Bartimaeus, the blind son of Timaeus, was sitting and begging beside the road.

²⁰ Now there was a certain poor man, Lazarus by name, who had been put at his gate, having been full of sores, ²¹ and desiring to be fed from the falling crumbs of the rich man’s table. But even the dogs, coming to him, were licking his sores. ²² Now it happened, that the poor man died and that he was carried away by the messengers into Abraham’s bosom, and the rich man also died and was buried.

³⁵ Now it happened, while he drew near to Jericho, a certain blind man was sitting by the road begging.

² And a certain man, being lame from his mother’s womb, was being bore there, whom they were laying daily at the door of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask charity from those who travel into the temple. ³ Seeing Peter and John being about to go into the temple, he asked them for charity. ⁴ But Peter, together with John, staring toward him, said, Look toward us. ⁵ Now he was taking-heed of them, expecting to receive something from them. ⁶ But Peter said, I do not possess silver and gold, but what I have, that I am giving to you. In the name of Jesus Christ from Nazareth, arise and walk. ⁷ And he clutched him by the right hand and lifted him up and instantly his feet and his ankles were strengthened. ⁸ And leaping up, he stood and was walking, and he entered together with them into the temple, walking and leaping and praising God. ⁹ And all the people saw him walking and praising God. ¹⁰ And they were recognizing him, that this one was sitting to obtain charity at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with amazement and astonishment at what has befallen him.
¹¹ Now while the lame man, who had been healed, was holding-fast to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them on the porch which is called Solomon’s utterly amazed.

⁵ As you do not know what is the way of the wind, nor how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child, even so you do not know the work of God who does it all.

²⁷ and he should sleep and should arise night and day, and the seed may sprout and should lengthen, he does not know how.

⁹ Nicodemus answered and said to him, How are these things able to happen?

¹⁵ Therefore, again the Pharisees were also asking him how he recovered his sight.

¹⁷ And they asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How did you write all these words at his mouth?

¹⁸ And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that you* have come so soon today? ¹⁹ And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds and moreover he drew water for us and watered the flock. ²⁰ And he said to his daughters, And where is he? Why is it that you* have left the man? Call him, that he may eat bread.

¹¹ He answered them, He who made me healthy, that man said to me, Lift up your pallet and walk.
¹² Therefore they asked him, Who is the man who said to you, Lift up your pallet and walk? ¹³ But he who was healed did not know who it was; for Jesus had slipped out of the crowd that was in that place.

¹¹ Therefore the Jews were seeking him at the feast and were saying, Where is that man?

³ Now the scribes and the Pharisees lead a woman having been overtaken in adultery to him, and having stood her in the middle of them, ⁴ they say to him, testing him, Teacher, this woman was overtaken in the very-act of committing adultery. ⁵ Now Moses commanded us in the law such ones are to be stoned. Therefore what do you say? ⁶ But they were saying this thing, testing him, in order that they may have something to accuse him.
But Jesus stooped downward and with his finger was writing in the soil and making-like nothing was happening. ⁷ Now as they were remaining, asking him, he stood-erect and said to them, The sinless one among you, let him cast the first stone upon her. ⁸ And again he stooped downward and was writing in the soil.

⁴⁶ But some out of them went away to the Pharisees and told them the things which Jesus had done.

⁴⁷ Therefore, the high-priests and the Pharisees gathered together a council and were saying, What are we doing because this man is doing many signs?

⁵⁷ Now both the high-priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, in order that, if anyone knows where he was, he should divulge it, that they might arrest him.

¹⁹ Therefore the Pharisees said to themselves, You are viewing that you profit nothing. Behold, the world has gone after him.

⁴² Nevertheless even many out of the rulers also believed in him, but they were not confessing it because of the Pharisees, in order that they might not become expelled from the synagogue;

¹ Jesus traveled on the Sabbath day through the grain-fields at that time, and his disciples were hungry and began to pluck the tops and to eat them. ² But the Pharisees, having seen it, said to him, Behold, your disciples are doing what is not legal to practice upon the Sabbath.
³ But he said to them, Have you not read what David did, when he himself was hungry and those with him; ⁴ how he entered into the house of God and ate the showbread, which was not legal for him to eat, nor those with him, unlawful except for the priests only? ⁵ Or have you not read in the law, that on the Sabbath day the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath and yet are crimeless? ⁶ But I saying to you, that a greater thing than the temple is here. ⁷ But if you had known what is meant by this, ‘I will to have mercy and not sacrifice,’ You would not have sentenced the crimeless. ⁸ For the Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.


⁹ And having proceeded from there, he went into their synagogue. ¹⁰ And behold, there was a man who had a dried up hand. And they asked him, in order that they might accuse him, saying, Is it legal to heal on the Sabbath day?
¹¹ But he said to them, What man shall there be out of you, who shall have one sheep and if this one falls into a ditch on the Sabbath day, shall he not take-hold of it and lift it up? ¹² Therefore how much more-value does a man carry than a sheep? So-then is it legal to do good on the Sabbath day?
¹³ Then he says to the man, Stretch out your hand. And he stretched it out, and it was restored as healthy as the other. ¹⁴ But the Pharisees having gone out, took counsel against him, that they should destroy him.

²³ And he happened to travel on the Sabbath day through the grain-fields, and his disciples began to make their way plucking the tops.

¹ Now it happened on a second Sabbath after the first, that he was traveling through the grain-fields, and his disciples were plucking the tops, rubbing them in their hands and were eating them. ² But some of the Pharisees said to them, Why are you doing what is not legal to practice on the Sabbaths?
³ And Jesus answered and said to them, Have you not read even this, what David did, when he was hungry, he and those who were with him? ⁴ How he entered into the house of God and took and ate the showbread, and also gave it to those who were with him; which it is not legal to eat, except for the priests only? ⁵ And he said to them, The Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.


⁶ Now it happened on a different Sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught, and a man was there, and his right hand was dried up. ⁷ Now the scribes and the Pharisees were observing him, if he will heal him on the Sabbath; in order that they might find an accusation against him. ⁸ But he knew their reasonings, and he said to the man having a dried up hand, Arise and stand; you in the middle. Now having risen up, he stood there. ⁹ And Jesus said to them, I ask you something, Is it legal on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil? To save a life or to destroy it? ¹⁰ And having looked around on them all, he said to him, Stretch out your hand. Now he did, and his hand was restored like the other. ¹¹ But they were filled with madness, and were speaking with one another as to what they might do to Jesus.

¹⁰ Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath day. ¹¹ And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of sickness for eighteen years, and she was always stooped over and was not able to completely stand-erect. ¹² Now having seen her, Jesus summoned her and said to her, Woman, you have been released from your sickness. ¹³ And he laid his hands upon her and instantly she was straightened and was glorifying God.
¹⁴ Now the ruler of the synagogue, being indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, answered and said to the crowd, There are six days in which men ought to work; therefore coming in these days, be healed, and not on the day of the Sabbath.
¹⁵ Therefore the Lord answered him and said, You hypocrites, does not each of you on the Sabbath loose his bull or his donkey from the manger and having led him away, give it a drink? ¹⁶ Now this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom the Adversary had bound, behold, these eighteen years, is it not essential for her to have been loosed from this bond on the day of the Sabbath?
¹⁷ And while saying these things, all those who laid in opposition to him were being shamed, and all the crowd was rejoicing at all the glorious things which happened by him.

¹ And it happened, while he went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees on a Sabbath to eat bread, that they themselves were observing him.

⁹ And immediately the man became healthy, and lifted up his pallet and was walking.
Now it was the Sabbath on that day.

¹⁶ And the Jews were persecuting Jesus because of this, and were seeking to kill him, because he was doing these things on the Sabbath.

²¹ Jesus answered and said to them, I did one work and you all marvel. ²² Because of this, Moses has given you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a man. ²³ If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath, in order that the Law of Moses may not be torn-down. Are you bitterly-angry with me, because I made a man entirely healthy on the Sabbath?

¹⁰ Therefore they were saying to him, How were your eyes opened?
¹¹ That man answered and said, A man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, Go to the pool of Siloam and wash. And I went away and washed and I recovered my sight.

²⁶ But they said to him again, What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?
²⁷ He answered them, I spoke to you already and you did not hear; why are you wishing to hear it again? Do you wish also to become his disciples?

² But the Pharisees, having seen it, said to him, Behold, your disciples are doing what is not legal to practice upon the Sabbath.

³¹ Some Pharisees came in that same day, saying to him, Come out and travel from here, because Herod wishes to kill you.
³² And he said to them, Travel to and say to that fox, Behold, I cast out demons and perform healings today and the next-day and I am completed in the third day. ³³ However it is essential for me to travel on today and the next-day and in the next day, because it is not acceptable for a prophet to perish outside of Jerusalem.

² This one came to him by night and said to him, Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God; for no one is able to do these signs which you are doing, if God is not with him.

⁵² Therefore the Jews were quarreling with one another, saying, How is this one able to give us his flesh to eat?

¹² And there was much murmuring among the crowds concerning him. Some were saying, He is a good man; others said, Not so, but he misleads the crowd.

⁴³ So there became a split in the crowd because of him.

²⁴ So they summoned the man who was blind a second-time and said to him, Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner.

³⁰ The man answered and said to them, For a marvelous thing is in this, because you do not know where he is from and yet he opened my eyes. ³¹ But we know that God does not hear sinners, but if anyone is God-fearing and if he is practicing his will, he hears him. ³² It has not been heard from the beginning of the world, that anyone has opened the eyes of one who had been born blind. ³³ If this one was not from God, he would be unable to do anything.

¹⁹ Therefore, a split again happened among the Jews because of these words.

¹¹ Either believe me, that I am in the Father and the Father in me, otherwise believe me because of the works themselves.

²⁴ If I had not done the works which no other has done among them, then they were having no sin, but now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father.

⁴ But the multitude of the city was split-apart, and some were together with the Jews and those others together with the apostles.

¹¹ But the crowds were saying, This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee.

¹⁹ And he said to them, What things?
But they said to him, The things concerning Jesus from Nazareth, who became a prophet, a mighty man in works and word in front of God and all the people;

¹⁹ The woman says to him, Lord, I view that you are a prophet.

¹⁴ Therefore, when the people saw the sign which Jesus did, they were saying, This truly is the prophet who is coming into the world.

²² Men, Israelites! Hear these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man from God, having been shown to you by miracles and wonders and signs which God did through him in your midst, just-as you yourselves also know;

²² Moses indeed said to the fathers, The Lord our God will rise up for you a prophet from among your brethren, like me. You will listen to him according to all things, as many things as he may speak to you. ²³ And it will be, that every soul if it does not listen to that prophet, will be utterly destroyed from among the people. ²⁴ But even all the prophets from Samuel and those who followed afterwards, as many as have spoken, also spoke of these days. ²⁵ You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God covenanted with our fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your seed, all the families of the earth will be blessed.’ ²⁶ God, having raised up his young-servant Jesus, sent him to you first, blessing you in turning each of you away from your wickednesses.

³⁸ Jesus who was from Nazareth; how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went through out the land working good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with him.

¹⁴ And Lot went out and spoke to his sons in-law, who married his daughters and said, Up, you* get out of this place, because Jehovah will destroy the city. But he seemed as a man jesting, to his sons-in-law.

¹¹ Jehovah, your hand is lifted up, yet they do not see. But they will see your zeal for the people and be put to shame. Yes, fire will devour your adversaries.

¹ Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of Jehovah been revealed?

³¹ But he said to him, If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, if someone rises up from the dead.

¹⁹ And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem in order that they might ask him, Who are you?

⁴⁴ How are you able to believe, receiving glory from one another, and yet you are not seeking the glory that comes from the God alone?

²² His parents said these things, because they feared the Jews; for the Jews, themselves, had covenanted already, in order that if anyone confesses him as Christ, he should become expelled from the synagogue.

³⁷ But though he had done so-many signs before them, yet they did not believe in him, ³⁸ in order that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, ‘Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?’ ³⁹ Because of this, they were not able to believe, because Isaiah said again, ⁴⁰ ‘He has blinded their eyes and he has hardened their heart; in order that they should not see with their eyes and should perceive with their heart and should turn and that I might heal them.’

¹⁵ while it is said, ‘If you hear his voice today, do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion.’ ¹⁶ For some who had heard it rebelled. But was it not all those who came out of Egypt through Moses? ¹⁷ And with whom was he displeased for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness? ¹⁸ Now to whom did he swear that they will not be entering into his rest, except to the disobedient? ¹⁹ And we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief.

¹¹ Therefore let us be diligent to enter into that rest, in order that no one should fall into the same example of disobedience.

⁸ Therefore the neighbors and those viewing him beforehand, that he was blind, were saying, Is this one not the one, sitting and begging earlier? ⁹ Others were saying, It is he. But others said, He is similar to him.
That man said, I am he.

¹⁰ And they were recognizing him, that this one was sitting to obtain charity at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with amazement and astonishment at what has befallen him.

¹⁴ But seeing the man who has been healed, standing together with them, they had nothing to speak against it.

¹ Jehovah is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? Jehovah is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?
² When evildoers came upon me to eat up my flesh, even my adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.

²⁵ The fear of man brings a snare, but he who puts his trust in Jehovah will be safe.

⁷ Listen to me, you* who know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law. Do not fear the reproach of men, nor be you* dismayed at their revilings.

¹² I, even I, am he who comforts you*. Who are you, that you are afraid of man who will die and of the son of man who will be made as grass,

¹¹ And of whom have you been afraid and in fear, that you lie and have not remembered me, nor laid it to your heart? Have I not held my peace even of long time and you do not fear me?

²² You are fortunate, whenever men hate you and whenever they separate you from themselves, and may reproach you and may cast out your name like evil, because of the Son of Man.

⁴ But I am saying to you my friends, Do not be afraid of those who kill the body and they do not have, after these things, anything more-than that to do against you. ⁵ But I will be showing you whom you should fear. Fear him, who after he has killed you, has authority to cast you into hell. Yes, I say to you, Fear him.
⁶ Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one out of them has been forgotten in God’s sight. ⁷ But even the hairs of your head have all been numbered. Therefore do not fear. You carry more-value than many sparrows.
⁸ Now I say to you, Everyone–whomever confesses to be in me before men, the Son of Man will also confess to be in him before the messengers of God. ⁹ But he who has denied me in the sight of men will be denied in the sight of the messengers of God.

⁵⁶ But a certain maidservant when she saw him sitting in the light of the fire, and having stared at him, said, This one was also together with him.
⁵⁷ But he denied him, saying, Woman, I do not know him. ⁵⁸ And after a little bit, a different one saw him, and was saying, You also are one out of them.
But Peter said, Man, I am not.
⁵⁹ And after approximately a one hour interval, then a certain other was stoutly affirming, saying, In truth this one was also with him; for he is a Galilean.
⁶⁰ But Peter said, Man, I do not know what you say. And instantly, while he is still speaking, the rooster crowed. ⁶¹ And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter was reminded of the word of the Lord, how that he said to him, Before the rooster crow, you will be denying me three-times.

¹³ Nevertheless no one was publicly speaking concerning him because of fear of the Jews.

⁴⁵ Therefore, the attendants came to the high-priests and Pharisees, and those men said to them, Why did you not lead him here?
⁴⁶ The attendants answered, Never, has a man spoken thus, like this man.
⁴⁷ Therefore the Pharisees answered them, You have not also been misled, have you? ⁴⁸ Not anyone from the rulers or from the Pharisees believed in him, have they? ⁴⁹ But this crowd who does not know the law are cursed.
⁵⁰ Nicodemus says to them (he who came to him by night, being one out of them), ⁵¹ Our law is not judging a man, if it does not hear from him beforehand and may know what he is doing, does it?
⁵² They answered and said to him, You are not also from Galilee, are you? Search and behold that no prophet has arisen out of Galilee.

⁴² Nevertheless even many out of the rulers also believed in him, but they were not confessing it because of the Pharisees, in order that they might not become expelled from the synagogue; ⁴³ for they loved the glory from men rather than the glory from God.

² They will be expelling you from the synagogues. But the hour is coming, that everyone who kills you may think that he is offering divine service to God.

³⁸ After these things, Joseph from Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but having been hidden because of his fear of the Jews, asked Pilate in order that he might take away the body of Jesus and Pilate permitted him. Therefore he came and took the body of Jesus.

¹⁹ Therefore being evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors had been locked where the disciples were gathered because of fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the middle, and says to them, Peace to you.

¹⁸ And they called them back and commanded them not to speak nor teach to any in the name of Jesus.

¹³ But none of the rest were daring to join himself to them, but the people were extolling them;

⁴⁰ Now they were persuaded by him, and having called the apostles to them, they whipped them, and commanded them not to speak in the name of Jesus and released them.

¹¹ But when Peter came to Antioch, I stood against him to his face, because he was being condemned. ¹² For he was eating together with the Gentiles before some came from James. But when they came, he was retreating back and separating himself, fearing those who were from the circumcision. ¹³ And the rest of the Jews were also hypocrites together with him; so-that even Barnabas was led away with their hypocrisy.

⁸ But to the cowardly and unbelieving and sinners and detestable and murderers and fornicators and sorcerers and idolaters and to all the false witnesses, their part will be in the lake which is burning with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.

¹⁹ And Joshua said to Achan, I beseech you, my son give glory to Jehovah, the God of Israel and make confession to him and tell me now what you have done. Hide it not from me.

⁵ Therefore you* will make images of your* tumors and images of your* mice that mar the land. And you* will give glory to the God of Israel. Perhaps he will lighten his hand from you* and from your* gods and from your* land.
⁶ Why then do you* harden your* hearts as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? When he had worked wonderfully among them, did they not let the people go and they departed? ⁷ Now therefore take and prepare for you* a new cart and two milk cows on which there has come no yoke. And tie the cows to the cart and bring their calves home from them. ⁸ And take the ark of Jehovah and lay it upon the cart. And put the jewels of gold, which you* return to him for a trespass offering, in a coffer by the side of it and send it away, that it may go.
⁹ And watch. If it goes up by the way of its own border to Beth-shemesh, then he has done to us this great evil, but if not, then we will know that it is not his hand that killed* us; it was a chance that happened to us.

¹⁴ Offer to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving and pay your vows to the Most High. ¹⁵ And call upon me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you and you will glorify me.

⁵ Hear the word of Jehovah, you* who tremble at his word: Your* brothers who hate you*, who cast you* out for my name's sake, have said, Let Jehovah be glorified, that we may see your* joy. But it is those who will be put to shame.

²⁷ And they crucify two robbers together with him; one at his right and one at his left.

³⁹ Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he spoke in himself, saying, This one, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, that she is a sinner.

² And the Pharisees and the scribes were murmuring, saying, This man accepts sinners and eats together with them.

⁷ And when they saw it, they were all murmuring, saying, He has entered to board with a man, a sinner.

²³ in order that all may honor the Son, just-as they are honoring the Father. He who is not honoring the Son, is not honoring the Father who sent him.

⁴⁶ Which out of you convicts me concerning sin? But if I speak the truth, why are you not believing in me?

⁴⁹ Jesus answered, I do not have a demon, but I am honoring my Father and you are dishonoring me.

¹⁶ Therefore, some out of the Pharisees were saying, This man is not from God, because he is not keeping the Sabbath.
Others said, How is a man, a sinner, able to do such signs? And there was a split among them.

³⁰ I will not be speaking much anymore with you, for the ruler of the world is coming and he has nothing in me;

³⁰ They answered and said to him, If this one was not an evildoer, we should not have given him up to you.

⁶ Therefore when the high-priests and the attendants saw him, they cried-out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him!
Pilate says to them, You, take him and crucify him; for I am finding no crime in him.

² For I testify to them that they have a zeal of God, but not according to full knowledge. ³ For being ignorant of God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God. ⁴ For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

²¹ For the one who knew no sin, he was made the sin offering on our behalf; in order that we might become the righteousness of God in him.

¹¹ He answered them, He who made me healthy, that man said to me, Lift up your pallet and walk.

³⁰ The man answered and said to them, For a marvelous thing is in this, because you do not know where he is from and yet he opened my eyes.

¹⁰ He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who does not believe God, has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has testified concerning his Son.

⁶⁷ If you are the Christ, tell us.
But he said to them, If I tell you, you may never believe;

¹⁰ Therefore they were saying to him, How were your eyes opened?
¹¹ That man answered and said, A man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, Go to the pool of Siloam and wash. And I went away and washed and I recovered my sight.
¹² Therefore they said to him, Where is that man?
He says, I do not know.
¹³ They lead him to the Pharisees, the previously blind one. ¹⁴ Now it was the Sabbath when Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes. ¹⁵ Therefore, again the Pharisees were also asking him how he recovered his sight.
Now he said to them, He placed clay upon my eyes and I washed and I can see.

¹¹ You are fortunate whenever they reproach and persecute you and say every evil word against you–lying, because of me.

³⁹ Now those who traveled by were blaspheming him, wagging their heads,

⁴⁵ Do not think that I will be accusing you to the Father. There is one who is accusing you, Moses, in whom you have hoped. ⁴⁶ For if you believed in Moses, you would believe in me; for that man wrote concerning me. ⁴⁷ But if you do not believe the Scriptures of that man, how will you believe my declarations?

¹⁹ Has Moses not given you the law and yet none out of you are practicing the law? Why do you seek to kill me?

¹¹ Then they instigated men, saying, We have heard him speak blasphemous declarations at Moses and God. ¹² And they agitated the people and the elders and the scribes and standing against him, seized him and led him into the council.
¹³ And false witnesses stood up, who said, This man is not ceasing to speak blasphemous declarations against this holy place and the law; ¹⁴ for we have heard him saying, that this Jesus the Nazarene will be tearing-down this place and will be changing the customs which Moses gave to us.

¹⁷ Behold, you who are named a Jew and rest upon the law and boast in God,

¹² and we are laboring, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we are speaking well of them; being persecuted, we are tolerating it;

¹⁰ nor the greedy ones, nor thieves, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will be inheriting the kingdom of God.

²³ who, being reviled, was not reviling again in return; when suffering, was not threatening, (but was giving himself to the one who judges righteously),

² And they said, Has Jehovah indeed spoken only with Moses? Has he not spoken also with us? And Jehovah heard it.
³ Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men who were upon the face of the earth.
⁴ And Jehovah spoke suddenly to Moses and to Aaron and to Miriam, Come out the three of you* to the tent of meeting. And the three came out. ⁵ And Jehovah came down in a pillar of cloud and stood at the door of the tent and called Aaron and Miriam. And they both came forth.
⁶ And he said, Hear now my words. If there is a prophet among you*, I Jehovah will make myself known to him in a vision. I will speak with him in a dream. ⁷ My servant Moses is not so. He is faithful in all my house.

²⁸ And Moses said, Hereby you* will know that Jehovah has sent me to do all these works, for it is not of my own mind.

¹⁰ And there has not arisen a prophet since in Israel like Moses, whom Jehovah knew face to face,

²⁷ and say, Thus says the king, Put this fellow in the prison and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction until I come in peace.

¹¹ Then Jehu came out to the servants of his lord and one said to him, Is all well? Why did this mad fellow come to you? And he said to them, You* know the man and what his talk was.

⁶ But I am a worm and no man, a reproach of men and despised by the people.

⁷ He made known his ways to Moses, his practices to the sons of Israel.

²⁶ He sent Moses his servant and Aaron whom he had chosen.

¹⁶ They also envied Moses in the camp and Aaron the holy ones of Jehovah.

² For he grew up before him as a tender plant and as a root out of a dry ground. He has no form nor comeliness. And when we see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
³ He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And as him from whom men hide their face he was despised and we esteemed him not.

⁴ You* remember the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded to him in Horeb for all Israel, even statutes and ordinances.

²⁴ But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This one is not casting out demons, except in Beelzebub the ruler of the demons.

⁶¹ But later, two false witnesses came and were saying, This one said, I am able to tear-down the temple of God and to build it again in three days.

² Now they began to accuse him, saying, We found this one perverting the nation and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, and saying that he himself is Christ, a king.

¹⁷ Because the law was given through Moses; the favor and the truth became through Jesus Christ.

²⁷ But we know where this one is from, but whenever the Christ comes, no one knows where he is from.

⁴¹ Others were saying, This is the Christ. Others were saying, The Christ does not come out of Galilee, does he? ⁴² Did the Scripture not say that the Christ comes out of the seed of David and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?

¹⁴ Jesus answered and said to them, Even if I testify concerning myself, my testimony is true, because I know from where I come and where I am going, but you do not know from where I come or where I am going.

³⁵ This Moses whom they deny, having said, Who designated you a ruler and a justice? God sent this one as a ruler and a redeemer by the hand of the messenger who was seen by him in the bush.

²² Now they were hearing him till this speech, and they lifted up their voice, saying, Take such a one away from the earth; for it was not proper for him to live.

²² Therefore, having obtained the assistance which is from God, I am standing to this day, testifying both to the little and to the great, saying nothing outside of what both the prophets and Moses said was about to happen.

² who was faithful to the one who made him such, as Moses also was in his whole house. ³ For he has been deemed worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as the one who constructed the house has more honor than the house. ⁴ For every house is constructed by someone, but the one who constructed all things is God. ⁵ And Moses indeed was faithful in his whole house as a bondservant for a testimony of the things which will be spoken later;

¹⁸ Open my eyes that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.

¹⁴ Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder. I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and the understanding of their prudent men will be hidden.

¹⁸ And in that day the deaf will hear the words of the book and the eyes of the blind will see out of obscurity and out of darkness.

⁶ And he was marveling because of their unbelief.

And he was going around the villages in a circle, teaching.

²² And Jesus answered and said to them, When you have traveled back, report to John the things which you have seen and heard; that the blind recover their sight, the lame are walking, the lepers are cleansed and the mute hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the good-news proclaimed to them.

¹⁰ Jesus answered and said to him, Are you the teacher of Israel and do not know these things?

³⁷ But though he had done so-many signs before them, yet they did not believe in him,

⁶ Because it is God, who said, ‘Illumination shine’out of darkness, who shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

²³ And Abraham drew near and said, Will you consume righteous men with wicked men? ²⁴ Perhaps there are fifty righteous men within the city. Will you consume and not spare the place for the fifty righteous men that are in it? ²⁵ Far be it from you to do such a thing, to kill a righteous man with a wicked man, that so the righteous man should be as the wicked man. Far be it from you. Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?
²⁶ And Jehovah said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous men within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sake. ²⁷ And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken it upon me to speak to the Lord, who am I but dust and ashes.
²⁸ Perhaps there will lack five of the fifty righteous men. Will you destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, I will not destroy it, if I find forty-five there.
²⁹ And he spoke to him yet again and said, Perhaps there will be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for the forty's sake.
³⁰ And he said, Oh let the Lord not be furious and I will speak. Perhaps there will be thirty found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there.
³¹ And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak to the Lord. Perhaps there will be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for the twenty's sake.
³² And he said, Oh let the Lord not be furious and I will speak yet but this once. Perhaps ten will be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for the ten's sake. ³³ And Jehovah went his way as soon as he had left off speaking with Abraham and Abraham returned to his place.

²⁹ And it happened, when God destroyed the cities of the Plain, that God remembered Abraham and that he sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot dwelt.

⁷ Now therefore restore the man's wife. For he is a prophet and he will pray for you and you will live. And if you do not restore her, you will know that you will surely die, you and all who are yours.

²⁰ And he cried to Jehovah and said, O Jehovah my God, have you also brought evil upon the widow with whom I journey by slaying her son? ²¹ And he stretched himself upon the child three times and cried to Jehovah and said, O Jehovah my God, I beseech you, let this child's soul come into him again.
²² And Jehovah listened to the voice of Elijah and the soul of the child came into him again and he revived.

³⁶ And it happened at the time of the offering of the evening oblation, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, O Jehovah, the God of Abraham, of Isaac and of Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and that I have done all these things at your word. ³⁷ Hear me, O Jehovah, hear me, that this people may know that you, Jehovah, are God and that you have turned their heart back again.
³⁸ Then the fire of Jehovah fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust and licked up the water that was in the trench.

²⁰ And Hezekiah the king and Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz, prayed because of this and cried out to heaven. ²¹ And Jehovah sent a messenger who cut off all the mighty men of valor and the leaders and captains, in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he came into the house of his god, those who came out from his own guts killed him there with the sword.

⁸ For what is the hope of the profane, though he gets him gain, when God takes away his soul? ⁹ Will God hear his cry when trouble comes upon him?

¹² There they cry, but none gives answer, because of the pride of evil men.

⁸ Now therefore, take to you* seven bullocks and seven rams. And go to my servant Job and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering. And my servant Job will pray for you*, for him I will accept, that I not deal with you* after your* senselessness. For you* have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job has.

⁴¹ They cried, but there was none to save, even to Jehovah, but he answered them not.

¹⁵ The eyes of Jehovah are toward the righteous and his ears are open to their prayer. ¹⁶ (The face of Jehovah is against those who do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.)

⁸ I delight to do your will, O my God. Yes, your law is within my heart.

¹⁸ If I regard wickedness in my heart, the Lord will not hear. ¹⁹ But truly God has heard. He has attended to the voice of my prayer.
²⁰ Kneel to God, who has not turned away my prayer, nor his loving kindness from me.

⁶ Moses and Aaron among his priests and Samuel among those who call upon his name, they called upon Jehovah and he answered them.

²³ Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy.

¹⁰ Teach me to do your will, because you are my God. Your Spirit is good, lead me in the land of uprightness.

¹⁹ He will fulfill the desire of those who fear him. He also will hear their cry and will save them.

²⁸ Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me, ²⁹ because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of Jehovah.

²⁹ Jehovah is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

¹³ He who stops his ears at the cry of a poor man, he will also cry, but will not be heard.

⁹ He who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

¹⁵ And when you* spread forth your* hands, I will hide my eyes from you*. Yes, when you* make many prayers, I will not hear; your* hands are full of blood.

⁹ Then you will call and Jehovah will answer, you will cry and he will say, Here I am. If you take the yoke away from the midst of you, the putting forth of the finger and speaking wickedly,

¹¹ Therefore Jehovah says thus, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they will not be able to escape. And they will cry to me, but I will not listen to them.

¹² When they fast, I will not hear their cry. And when they offer burnt offering and meal offering, I will not accept them. But I will consume them by the sword and by the famine and by the pestilence.

¹ Then Jehovah said to me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind would not be toward this people. Cast them out of my sight and let them go forth.

¹⁸ Therefore I will also deal in wrath. My eye will not spare, nor will I have pity. And though they cry in my ears with a loud voice, yet I will not hear them.

⁴ Then they will cry to Jehovah, but he will not answer them. Yes, he will hide his face from them at that time, just-as they have worked evil in their practices.

¹³ And it has happen that, as he cried and they would not hear, so they will cry and I will not hear, said Jehovah of hosts.

¹⁷ If anyone is willing to practice his will, he will know concerning the teaching, of what sort it is, whether from God or I speak from myself.

⁴¹ So they lifted the stone where the one who died was laying. Now Jesus lifted his eyes upward and said, Father, I am giving-thanks to you because you heard me. ⁴² And I knew that you always hear me, but because of the crowd who is standing around I said it, in order that they may believe that you sent me.

¹⁶ You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you, in order that you should go and should bring forth fruit and in order that your fruit should abide, that if you ask anything of the Father in my name, he should give it to you.

⁷ Then I said, (as it has been written concerning me in the volume of the book), Behold, I am coming to do your will, O God.’

¹⁵ And the vow of the faith will save the one who is weary and the Lord will lift him up, even if he has been practicing sins, it will be forgiven him.
¹⁶ Therefore confess your trespasses to one another, and pray on behalf of one another, that you may be healed. The supplication of a righteous man prevails; much in its working. ¹⁷ Elijah was a man of like-feelings to us and he prayed with much prayer that it might not rain, and it did not rain upon the land for three years and six months. ¹⁸ And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rainfall and the land sprouted her fruit.

²¹ Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have boldness toward God; ²² and whatever we ask, we receive from him, because we are keeping his commandments and are practicing the things which are pleasing in his sight.

⁴ Know this of old time, since man was placed upon earth,

⁴ For from of old men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither has the eye seen, O God, besides you, what he has prepared for him who waits for him.

⁷⁰ (just-as he spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets that have been from the ages past).

¹⁸ And there became lightnings and thunders and voices, and there became a great earthquake, such-as has not happened from which time men were born upon the earth, so-great an earthquake–so great!

³⁸ And hereafter I say to you, Withdraw from these men and permit them to continue, because if this plan or this work is from men, it will be torn-down; ³⁹ but if it is from God, you will not be able to tear it down; lest you might be found even to be quarreling against God.

⁹ And they said, Stand back. And they said, This one came in to journey and he will be a judge? Now we will deal worse with you, than with them. And they pressed greatly upon the man, against Lot and drew near to break the door.

¹⁴ And he said, Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you think to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian? And Moses feared and said, Surely the thing is known.

¹⁶ And it happened, as he talked with him, that the king said to him, Have we made you of the king's counsel? Cease. Why should you be struck? Then the prophet ceased and said, I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.

⁴ Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one.

¹⁴ What is man, that he should be clean? And he who is born of a woman, that he should be righteous? ¹⁵ Behold, he puts no trust in his holy ones. Yes, the heavens are not clean in his sight. ¹⁶ How much less one who is abominable and morally-corrupt, a man who drinks unrighteousness like water!

⁴ How then can man be just with God? Or how can he be clean who is born of a woman?

⁵ Behold, I was brought out in iniquity and my mother conceived me in sin.

⁷ He who disciplines a scoffer gets himself reviling. And he who reproves a wicked man gets himself a bruise. ⁸ Reprove not a scoffer, lest he hate you.
Reprove a wise man and he will love you.

¹⁰ Cast out the scoffer and contention will go out, yes, strife and reproach will cease.

¹² See a man wise in his own conceit? There is more hope for a fool than of him.

¹ He who, being often reproved, hardens his neck will suddenly be destroyed and that without remedy.

⁵ who say, Stand by yourself, do not come near to me, for I am holier than you.
These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burns all the day.

¹⁷ But if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the congregation, and if he also refuses to hear the congregation, let him be just-like the Gentile and the tax collector to you.
¹⁸ Assuredly, I am saying to you again, As many things as you may bind upon the earth will have already been bound in heaven, and as many things as you may loose upon earth will have already been loosed in heaven.

⁴⁵ Now someone from the professors of the law, answered and says to him, Teacher, you are also insulting us in saying these things.

¹¹ Because everyone who is exalting himself will be humbled, and he who is humbling himself will be exalted.

¹⁰ Two men went up into the temple to pray; the first one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. ¹¹ The Pharisee stood and was praying these things with himself, God, I give-thanks to you, that I am not like the rest of men: swindlers, unrighteous, adulterers or just-like this tax collector. ¹² I fast twice in the week; I tithe of all things, as many things as I procure. ¹³ And the tax collector, standing from afar, was not even willing to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his chest, saying, God, be lenient to me, the sinner. ¹⁴ I say to you, This one went down to his house, having been made righteous rather than that man, because everyone who is exalting himself will be humbled, but he who is humbling himself will be exalted.

¹⁷ Assuredly I am saying to you, Whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a little child, he may never enter into it.

³⁷ All that the Father gives me will be coming to me, and the one who is coming to me I may never cast outside.

⁴⁸ Not anyone from the rulers or from the Pharisees believed in him, have they? ⁴⁹ But this crowd who does not know the law are cursed.

⁴¹ You are practicing the works of your father.
Therefore they said to him, We have not been born from fornication; we have one Father–God.

² And his disciples asked him, saying, Rabbi, who sinned, this one or his parents, that he should be born blind?

³⁵ Jesus heard that they had cast him outside, and having found him, he said to him, Do you believe in the Son of God?

⁴⁰ And those who were with him from the Pharisees heard these things and said to him, We are not also blind, are we?

⁴ in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. When you and my spirit are gathered together, together with the power of our Lord Jesus, ⁵ to give such a one to the Adversary for the utter-destruction of the flesh, in order that the spirit might be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

¹³ Now God will be judging those who are outside, and you will be taking away the evil man from among yourselves.

¹⁵ We are Jews by nature and not sinners from the Gentiles;

³ among whom we also all conducted ourselves previously in the lusts of our flesh, practicing the wills of the flesh and of the mind and we were children of wrath by nature, even as the rest.

⁵ Likewise, the younger ones, be subject to the elder ones. But all of you be subject to one another, clothe yourselves with humility, because ‘God resists the haughty, but is giving grace to the humble.’

⁹ I wrote to the congregation, but Diotrephes, who loves to be their foremost one, is not accepting us.

¹⁷ and in order that no one should be able to buy or to sell, except he who has the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.

⁷ I will tell of the decree. Jehovah said to me, You are my Son, this day I have fathered you.

¹² Kiss the Son, lest he is angry and you* perish in the way, because his wrath will soon be kindled. All those who take refuge in him are fortunate.

¹⁰ Because my father and my mother forsake me, then Jehovah will take me up.

³³ Now those in the ship came to him and, worshiped him, saying, You are truly the Son of God.

¹⁶ Now Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.

The beginning of the good-news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

¹⁸ No one has seen God at anytime; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, that one has described him.

³⁴ And I have seen, and have testified, that this is the Son of God.

⁴⁹ Nathanael answered and says to him, Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.
⁵⁰ Jesus answered and said to him, Is it because I said to you, I saw you underneath the fig tree that you believe? You will be seeing greater than these things.

¹⁵ in order that everyone who believes in him might not perish but may have everlasting life.
¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, in order that everyone who believes in him might not perish, but may have everlasting life. ¹⁷ For God did not send the Son into the world in order that he might judge the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. ¹⁸ He who believes in him is not judged. He who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

³⁶ He who believes in the Son has everlasting life, but he who is disobedient to the Son will not be seeing life, but the wrath of God is remaining upon him.

¹⁴ After these things, Jesus finds him in the temple and said to him, Behold, you have become healthy. Sin no longer, in order that something worse might not happen to you.

⁶⁹ And we have believed and have known that you are the Christ the Son of the living God.

²⁷ She says to him, Yes, Lord. I have believed that you are the Christ, the Son of God, he who comes into the world.

²⁸ And Thomas answered and said to him, My Lord and my God!

³¹ but these have been written, in order that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and in order that believing you may have life in his name.

³⁶ Now as they were traveling down the road, they came to a some water, and the eunuch says, Behold, here is water; what is preventing me from being immersed? \super{T}

²⁰ And immediately in the synagogues he was preaching the Christ, that he is the Son of God.

⁴ who has been determined as being the Son of God in power, according to the spirit of holiness, out of the resurrection of the dead), Jesus Christ our Lord.

²⁰ Now Isaiah is very daring and says, ‘I was found by those who are not seeking me. I became manifest to those who are not asking for me.’

² whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the ages. ³ It is he who, being the brightness of his glory and the exact representation of his essence, and is carrying all things by his declaration of power. Having made a cleansing of our sins through himself, he sat down by the right hand of the Majesty in the high place; ⁴ having become so-much better than the messengers, inasmuch as he has inherited a more excellent name than they.
⁵ For to which of the messengers has he previously said, ‘You are my Son; I have fathered you today.’? And again, ‘I will be a Father to him and he will be for Son to me.’? ⁶ And again, whenever he brought the firstborn into the inhabited-earth, he says, ‘And let all the messengers of God worship him.’ ⁷ And he indeed says toward the messengers, ‘Who makes his messengers, spirits, and his ministers, a flame of fire.’ ⁸ But he says toward the Son, ‘Your throne, O God, is forevermore; the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom. ⁹ You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness. Because of this, God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness more than your companions.’

¹⁵ Whoever confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him and he in God.

⁵ Who is he who overcomes the world, if not he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

¹³ I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have everlasting life, and in order that you may believe in the name of the Son of God.

²⁰ Now we know that the Son of God has come and has given us perception, in order that we might know the true one and we are in the true one, that is, in his son, Jesus Christ. He is the true God and the everlasting life.

³ and I have not learned wisdom, nor have I the knowledge of the Holy.
⁴ Who has ascended up into heaven and descended? Who has gathered the wind in his fists? Who has bound the waters in his garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name and what is his son’s name, surely you know?

⁹ What is your beloved more than another beloved, O you fairest among women? What is your beloved more than another beloved, that you do so swear to us?

³ and said to him, Are you the one who is coming, or should we expect a different one?

³⁸ Now Jesus, having turned, saw them following, and says to them, What are you seeking?
But they said to him, Rabbi (which is to say, by translation: Teacher), where do you abide?

¹⁴ Therefore how will they call upon him in whom they have not believed? But how will they believe of whom they have not heard? But how will they hear without someone preaching?

⁸ Good and upright is Jehovah. Therefore he will instruct sinners in the way. ⁹ The meek he will guide in justice and the meek he will teach his way.

¹⁴ The friendship of Jehovah is with those who fear him and he will show them his covenant.

²⁵ Jesus answered and said at that time, I profess you, O Father, Lord of heaven and the earth, that you hid these things from the wise and intelligent and revealed them to infants.

¹¹ But he answered and said to them, It has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of the heavens, but it has not given to those men. ¹² For who ever has, to him will be given and he will abound, but who ever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.

²⁶ Jesus says to her, I am he, who is speaking to you.

²¹ He who holds my commandments and is keeping them, that one is he who loves me and he who loves me will be loved by my Father and I will love him and will be manifesting myself to him.
²² Judas (not Iscariot) says to him, Lord, what has happened that you are about to manifest yourself to us and not to the world?
²³ Jesus answered and said to him, If anyone loves me, he will be keeping my word and my Father will love him, and we will be coming to him and we will be making our abode with him.

³¹ and says, Cornelius, your prayer is heard and your charity is remembered in God’s sight. ³² Therefore send to Joppa, and call to you Simon, who is surnamed Peter; he is lodged in the house of Simon, a tanner, beside the sea. When he comes; he will be speaking to you. ³³ Therefore, promptly I sent for you, and having come, you did well. Therefore, now we are all here in God’s sight, to hear all things which have been commanded to you by God.

¹¹ So will the king desire your beauty, because he is your lord and bow to him.

⁹ Now as they were traveling to also report it to his disciples, behold, Jesus encountered them, saying, Rejoice! But they came and took-hold of his feet and worshiped him.

¹⁷ And seeing him, they worshiped him, but some were skeptical.

⁵² And they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy

⁹ And they are singing a new song, saying, You are worthy to take the book and to open its seals, because you were slaughtered and bought us in your blood for God out of every tribe and language and people and nation.
¹⁰ And you made them kings and priests to our God, and they will be reigning over the earth.
¹¹ And I saw and I heard a voice like that of many messengers in circle of the throne and the living creatures and the elders, tens of thousands of tens of thousands; ¹² saying in a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb who has been slaughtered to receive the power and the riches, and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and thanks. ¹³ And every created thing which is in the heaven and upon the earth and underneath the earth and upon the sea and all things in them, I heard saying, To the one who is sitting upon the throne and to the Lamb, is the thanks and the honor and the glory and the dominion, forevermore. Amen.
¹⁴ And the four living creatures are saying the amen; and the elders fell down and worshiped him.

⁹ And he said, Go and tell this people, Hear indeed, but do not understand and see you* indeed, but do not perceive.

¹⁰ For Jehovah has poured out upon you* the spirit of deep sleep and has closed your* eyes. The prophets and your* heads, the seers, he has covered.

¹⁸ Hear, you* deaf and look, you* blind, that you* may see. ¹⁹ Who is blind, but my servant, or deaf, as my messenger that I send? Who is blind as he who is at peace with me and blind as Jehovah's servant? ²⁰ You see many things, but you do not observe. His ears are open, but he does not hear.

¹⁸ They do not know, nor do they consider. For he has shut their eyes, that they cannot see and their hearts, that they cannot understand.

⁹ Then Jehovah put forth his hand and touched my mouth. And Jehovah said to me, Behold, I have put my words in your mouth. ¹⁰ See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to pluck up and to break down and to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.

²³ But if your eye is evil, your whole body will be dark. Therefore, if the light which is in you is darkness, how much greater is the darkness!

¹³ Because of this, I speak to them in parables, because seeing, they do not see, and hearing, they do not hear, nor do they understand. ¹⁴ And the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled in them, which says, ‘In hearing you will hear and may never understand, and seeing you will see and may never know; ¹⁵ for the heart of this people has become-callous and they have selectively heard with the ears and they have closed their eyes; lest they should see with their eyes and should hear with their ears and should understand with their heart and should turn again and I will be healing them.’

⁷⁹ to appear upon those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death; to steer our feet into the way of peace.

³⁴ and Simeon gave-thanks for them, and said to Mary his mother, Behold, this child is destined for the fall and the resurrection of many in Israel, and for a sign being spoken against.

¹⁸ ‘ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, in that, he anointed me to proclaim the good-news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the crushed in heart, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth the downtrodden in deliverance,

²¹ He healed many of diseases and disorders and evil spirits in the same hour, and he granted to many of the blind to see.

³⁴ The lamp of the body is the eye; therefore, whenever your eye is clear, your whole body is also radiant, but whenever it is evil, your body is also dark. ³⁵ Therefore, note that the light which is in you is not darkness.

³⁰ And behold, there are last who will be first and there are first who will be last.

¹⁷ For God did not send the Son into the world in order that he might judge the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

¹⁹ Now this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil.

²² For the Father is judging no one, but has given all judgment to the Son; ²³ in order that all may honor the Son, just-as they are honoring the Father. He who is not honoring the Son, is not honoring the Father who sent him.
²⁴ Assuredly, assuredly, I am saying to you, He who hears my word and believes in the one who sent me, has everlasting life, and is not coming into judgment, but has stepped out of death into the life.
²⁵ Assuredly, assuredly, I am saying to you, The hour is coming and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. ²⁶ For just-like the Father has life in himself, so he also gave to the Son, to have life in himself, ²⁷ and he also gave authority to him to make judgment, because he is a son of man.

¹⁵ You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one according to the flesh.

²⁵ Therefore that man answered and said, I do not know if he is a sinner. I know one thing, that I was blind, but now I can see.

³⁶ That man answered and said, Who is he, Lord, in order that I should believe in him?
³⁷ Now Jesus said to him, You have both seen him and he who speaks with you is that man.
³⁸ But he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshiped him.

⁴⁰ ‘He has blinded their eyes and he has hardened their heart; in order that they should not see with their eyes and should perceive with their heart and should turn and that I might heal them.’ ⁴¹ Isaiah said these things, when he saw his glory, and he spoke concerning him.

⁷ Therefore what? What Israel is seeking after, it did not obtain this, but the chosen obtained it and the rest were hardened; ⁸ just-as it has been written, ‘God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes in order that they should not see and ears in order that they should not hear, until this very day.’ ⁹ And David says, ‘Let their table become for a snare and for a trap and for an offense and for a repayment to them. ¹⁰ Let their eyes be darkened not to see and may you always bow down their backs.’

¹⁶ to the one an aroma from death to death, but to the other an aroma from life to life. And who is sufficient in these things?

⁴ in whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the illumination of the good-news of the glory of the Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn for them. ⁵ For we are not preaching ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord and ourselves as your bondservants because of Jesus. ⁶ Because it is God, who said, ‘Illumination shine’out of darkness, who shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

¹⁰ and in all deception of unrighteousness in those who are perishing, because they did not accept the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

⁹ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s ownership, that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;

¹¹ But he who hates his brother is in the darkness and is walking in the darkness and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

¹² Then the disciples came to him and said, Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this speech?
¹³ He answered and said, Every plant which my heavenly father did not plant will be uprooted. ¹⁴ Leave them! They are blind guides of the blind. Now if the blind guide the blind, both will be falling into a ditch.

¹⁶ Woe to you, you blind guides, that say, Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing, but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obligated. ¹⁷ You are foolish and blind; for which is greater, the gold, or the temple that makes the gold holy? ¹⁸ And, Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing, but whoever swears by the gift which is upon it, he is obligated. ¹⁹ You^\'b0 are foolish and blind; for which is greater, the gift, or the altar that makes the gift holy? ²⁰ Therefore, he who swears by the altar swears by it, and by all things upon it. ²¹ And he who swears by the temple, swears by it, and in the one who has dwelt in it. ²² And he who has sworn by the heaven, swears by the throne of God, and in the one who is sitting upon it.
²³ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and yet have left behind the weighty things of the law: justice and mercy and faith. You ought to do these, and not to have left behind those other things. ²⁴ You blind guides, who strain out the gnat and swallow the camel! ²⁵ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you cleanse the outside of the cup and the plate, but they are full from swindling and unrighteousness inside. ²⁶ Blind Pharisee! First cleanse the cup from within and the plate, in order that the outside of them might also become clean.
²⁷ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you are similar to whitewashed burial chambers, which on the outside indeed appear beautiful, but inside are full of dead men’s bones, and full of all uncleanness. ²⁸ So on the outside you indeed appear also righteous to men, but inside, you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

³⁹ But the Lord said to him, Now you, the Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter, but the inside of you is full from swindling and wickedness. ⁴⁰ Fools, he who made the outside, did he not also make the inside? ⁴¹ However, the things which are within you, give those as charity, and behold, all things are clean to you.
⁴² But woe to you Pharisees! Because you tithe mint and rue and every herb, and are passing over justice and the love of God. It was essential to have practiced these things and to not leave the other things undone. ⁴³ Woe to you Pharisees! Because you love the foremost seat in the synagogues and the greetings in the marketplaces. ⁴⁴ Woe to you scribes, and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you are like the indistinct tombs, and the men who are walking upon them do not know it.
⁴⁵ Now someone from the professors of the law, answered and says to him, Teacher, you are also insulting us in saying these things.
⁴⁶ But he said, Woe also to you professors of the law! Because you are loading men down with unbearable loads, and you yourselves do not stroke the loads with one of your fingers . ⁴⁷ Woe to you! Because you build the tombs of the prophets and your fathers killed them. ⁴⁸ Consequently, you are testifying and consenting to the works of your fathers, because they indeed killed them, and you build their tombs. ⁴⁹ Because of this, the wisdom of God also said, I will be sending prophets and apostles to them, and some out of them they will be killing and will be banishing; ⁵⁰ in order that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the conception of the world, may be sought from this generation; ⁵¹ from the blood of Abel Yes, I say to you, It will be sought from this generation. ⁵² Woe to you professors of the law! Because you took away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and you forbid those who were entering.
⁵³ Now while saying these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began terribly to hold everything against him, and to quiz him for unrehearsed answers concerning many things; ⁵⁴ plotting against him, seeking to trap him in something out of his mouth, in order that they might accuse him.

¹⁹ and have confidence that you yourself are a guide of the blind, a light of those who are in darkness, ²⁰ a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of infants, having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth.
²¹ Therefore you who are teaching a different one, are you not teaching yourself? You who are preaching not to steal, are you stealing? ²² You who are saying to not commit adultery, are you committing adultery? You who detest idols, are you a temple looter?

¹⁷ Because you say, I am rich and have enriched ourselves and have need of nothing, and do not know that you are the miserable and the pitiful and are poor and blind and naked.

²¹ Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight!

³⁵ Yet you said, I am innocent. Surely his anger is turned away from me. Behold, I will enter into judgment with you because you say, I have not sinned.

⁴⁷ But that bondservant, who knew his lord’s will and did not prepare, nor did according to his will, will be whipped with many lashes;

¹⁴ I say to you, This one went down to his house, having been made righteous rather than that man, because everyone who is exalting himself will be humbled, but he who is humbling himself will be exalted.

²² If I had not come and spoken to them, they were having no sin, but now they have no excuse concerning their sin. ²³ He who hates me also hates my Father. ²⁴ If I had not done the works which no other has done among them, then they were having no sin, but now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father.

²⁶ For when we sin willfully after the receiving of the full knowledge of the truth, then a sacrifice is left no more for us concerning sins,

⁸ If we should say that we have no sin, we are misleading ourselves and the truth is not in us. ⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ¹⁰ If we should say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar and his word is not in us.
