¹³ He causes it to come, whether it is for correction, or for his land, or for loving kindness.

¹⁸ Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as has not been in Egypt since the day it was founded even until now. ¹⁹ Now therefore send, hasten in your cattle and all that you have in the field, and every man and beast that will be found in the field and will not be brought home, the hail will come down upon them and they will die.
²⁰ He who feared the word of Jehovah among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses. ²¹ And he who did not regard the word of Jehovah left his servants and his cattle in the field.
²² And Jehovah said to Moses, Stretch forth your hand toward heaven, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, upon man and upon beast and upon every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.
²³ And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven and Jehovah sent thunder and hail and fire ran down to the earth and Jehovah rained hail upon the land of Egypt. ²⁴ So there was hail and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.
²⁵ And throughout all the land of Egypt the hail killed* all that was in the field, both man and beast and the hail killed* every herb of the field and broke every tree of the field.

¹⁸ So Samuel called to Jehovah and Jehovah sent thunder and rain that day. And all the people greatly feared Jehovah and Samuel. ¹⁹ And all the people said to Samuel, Pray for your servants to Jehovah your God that we not die, for we have added to all our sins this evil, to ask a king for us.

¹⁰ And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water was poured upon them from heaven. And she neither allowed the birds of the heaven to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.

¹⁴ And they buried the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son in the country of Benjamin in Zela, in the sepulcher of Kish his father. And they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was entreated for the land.

⁴⁵ And it happened in a little while, that the heavens grew black with clouds and wind and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode and went to Jezreel.

⁹ Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together to Jerusalem within the three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month and all the people sat in the broad place before the house of God, trembling because of this matter and for the great rain.

³¹ For by these he judges the peoples. He gives food in abundance.

⁶ For he says to the snow, Fall on the earth, likewise to the shower of rain and to the showers of his mighty rain.

²⁶ to cause it to rain on a land where no man is, on the wilderness, in which there is no man, ²⁷ to satisfy the waste and desolate ground and to cause the tender grass to spring forth?

³⁷ Who can number the clouds by wisdom? Or who can pour out the jugs of heaven ³⁸ when the dust runs into a mass and the clods cleave fast together?

²³ Be glad then, you* sons of Zion and rejoice in Jehovah your* God, for he gives you* the former rain in just measure and he causes the rain to come down for you*, the former rain and the latter rain, in the first month.
