²² Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then has not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?

²⁵ And they sat down to eat bread. And they lifted up their eyes and looked, and behold, a caravan of Ishmaelites was coming from Gilead, with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.

¹¹ And their father Israel said to them, If it is so now, do this: take of the choice fruits of the land in your* vessels and carry a present down to the man, a little balm and a little honey, spicery and myrrh, nuts and almonds.

⁵ Why will you* still be stricken, that you* revolt more and more? The whole head is sick and the whole heart faint. ⁶ From the sole of the foot even to the head there is no soundness in it, but wounds and bruises and fresh stripes. They have not been closed nor bound up nor soothed with oil.

¹² For Jehovah says thus, Your hurt is incurable and your wound grievous. ¹³ There is none to plead your cause, that you may be bound up; you have no healing medicines. ¹⁴ All who love you have forgotten you; they do not seek you. For I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the greatness of your iniquity, because your sins were increased.
¹⁵ Why do you cry for your hurt? Your pain is incurable, for the greatness of your iniquity. Because your sins were increased, I have done these things to you.
¹⁶ Therefore all those who devour you will be devoured and all your adversaries, every one of them, will go into captivity. And those who despoil you will be a spoil and all who prey upon you I will give for a prey. ¹⁷ For I will restore health to you and I will heal you of your wounds, says Jehovah, because they have called you an outcast, saying, It is Zion, whom no man seeks after.

¹¹ Go up into Gilead and take balm, O virgin daughter of Egypt. In vain do you use many medicines; there is no healing for you.

⁸ Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed. Wail for her. Take balm for her pain, perhaps she may be healed.

¹¹ And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to his disciples, Why is your teacher eating with the tax collectors and sinners?
¹² But Jesus having heard it, said to them, Those who are strong have no need of a physician, but those who are ill.

³¹ And Jesus answered and said to them, Those who are healthy have no need of a physician, but those who have ill ness. ³² I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.

⁴³ And a woman, having a flowing of blood twelve years, who had consumed her whole livelihood upon physicians, was not strong-enough to be healed by anyone.
