⁶² And say, O Jehovah, you have spoken concerning this place, to cut it off, that none will dwell in it, neither man nor beast, but that it will be everlasting desolate.

¹⁹ And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldeans' pride, will be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. ²⁰ It will never be inhabited, nor will it be dwelt in from generation to generation. Neither will the Arabian pitch tent there, nor will shepherds make their flocks to lie down there. ²¹ But wild beasts of the desert will lie there and their houses will be full of doleful creatures. And ostriches will dwell there and wild goats will dance there. ²² And wolves will cry in their castles and jackals in the pleasant palaces. And her time is near to come and her days will not be prolonged.

²² And I will rise up against them, says Jehovah of hosts and cut off from Babylon name and remnant and son and son's son, says Jehovah. ²³ I will also make it a possession for the porcupine and pools of water. And I will sweep it with the broom of destruction, says Jehovah of hosts.

⁹ behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, says Jehovah and Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant and will bring them against this land and against the inhabitants of it and against all these nations all around. And I will utterly destroy them and make them an astonishment and a hissing and everlasting desolations.

¹² And it will happen, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, says Jehovah, for their iniquity and the land of the Chaldeans and I will make it desolate everlasting.

³ For out of the north there comes up a nation against her, which will make her land desolate and none will dwell in it. They are fled. They are gone, both man and beast.

¹³ Because of the wrath of Jehovah she will not be inhabited, but she will be entirely desolate. Everyone who goes by Babylon will be astonished and hiss at all her plagues.

³⁹ Therefore the wild beasts of the desert with the wolves will dwell there and the ostriches will dwell in it. And it will no more be everlasting inhabited, nor will it be dwelt in from generation to generation. ⁴⁰ As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbor cities of it, says Jehovah, so will no man dwell there, nor will any son of man journey in it.

²⁵ Behold, I am against you, O destroying mountain, says Jehovah, which destroys all the earth. And I will stretch out my hand upon you and roll you down from the rocks and will make you a burnt mountain. ²⁶ And they will not take from you a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations, but you will be desolate forever, says Jehovah.

²⁹ And the land trembles and is in pain, for the purposes of Jehovah against Babylon stand, to make the land of Babylon a desolation, without inhabitant.
The mighty men of Babylon have ceased fighting; they remain in their strongholds. Their might has failed. They have become as women.

³⁷ And Babylon will become heaps, a dwelling-place for jackals, an astonishment and a hissing, without inhabitant.

⁹ I will make you a everlasting desolation and your cities will not be inhabited.
And you* will know that I am Jehovah.

²⁰ Be joyous over her: heaven and the holy-ones and the apostles and the prophets, because God has judged your condemnation from her

²¹ And a strong messenger took up a stone like a great millstone and cast it into the sea, saying, So Babylon, the great city, will be cast down, with a violent-impulse, and may never be found anymore. ²² And the voice of harpists and musicians and flute-players and trumpeters may never be heard in you anymore, and every craftsman of every craft may never be found in you anymore, and the voice of a millstone may never be heard in you anymore; ²³ and the light of a lamp may never appear in you anymore, and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride may never be heard in you anymore. Your merchants were the great-men of the earth, because all the nations were misled in your sorcery.
