¹⁴ But Zion said, Jehovah has forsaken me and the Lord has forgotten me.

¹ How long, O Jehovah? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?

¹ My God, my God, why have you forsaken me, far from helping me and the words of my groaning?

²² As for me, I said in my haste, I am cut off from before your eyes. Nevertheless you heard the voice of my supplications when I cried to you.

⁶ I call to remembrance my song in the night. I meditate with my own heart and my spirit makes diligent search.
⁷ Will the Lord cast off everlasting? And will he be favorable no more? ⁸ Has his loving kindness ceased forever? Does his promise come to an end in this generation? ⁹ Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he shut up his tender mercies in anger? Selah.

³⁸ But you have cast off and rejected. You have been angry with your anointed. ³⁹ You have spurned the covenant of your servant. You have profaned his crown to the ground. ⁴⁰ You have broken down all his hedges. You have brought his strongholds to ruin.
⁴¹ All who pass by the way rob him. He has become a reproach to his neighbors. ⁴² You have exalted the right hand of his adversaries. You have made all his enemies to rejoice.
⁴³ Yes, you turn back the edge of his sword and have not made him to stand in the battle.
⁴⁴ You have made his brightness to cease and cast his throne down to the ground. ⁴⁵ The days of his youth you have shortened. You have covered him with shame. Selah.
⁴⁶ How long, O Jehovah? Will you hide yourself forever? Shall your wrath burn like fire?

²⁷ Why do you say, O Jacob and speak, O Israel, My way is hid from Jehovah. And the justice due to me is passed away from my God?

³⁹ therefore, behold, I will utterly forget you*. And I will cast you* off and the city that I gave to you* and to your* fathers, away from my presence.

²⁰ Why do you forget us forever and forsake us so long time?

¹ Therefore I say, God has not thrust away his people, has he? Let it not happen! For I am also an Israelite, from the seed of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. ² God did not thrust away his people which he knew beforehand. Or do you not know what the Scripture says by Elijah? How he petitions God against Israel, saying, ³ ‘Lord, they have killed your prophets and have made ruins of your altars, and I am left alone and they are seeking my life.’ ⁴ But what does the divine-answer say to him? ‘I have left to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to Baal.’ ⁵ Therefore so there has also become a remnant according to the chosen of grace in this current time.
